Terror-tied CAIR attorney says Texas anti-boycott-Jews BDS law regulates grocery store purchases

Watch here at 8:27 when Amy Goodman asks CAIR attorney Gadeir Abbas if saying to a friend they don’t want to buy Israeli product would be a violation of Texas law.

Abbas replies: “Yeah. Bahia would be disqualified from working for any school district in the state that’s following this law simply because she chooses not to buy, for instance, Sabra hummus. So, her grocery store decision to not buy Sabra hummus and to buy, instead, another kind of hummus automatically, under this law, disqualifies her from all public employment of all kinds.”

However, he gives no examples, cites no court cases where Texas has acted against someone for their grocery store purchases. Indeed, the law itself is entitled “Chapter 2270. Prohibition on Contracts with Companies Boycotting Israel.” There is nothing in the law about groceries, or Sabra hummus.

Combine this with the numerous articles saying that Bahia Amawi was fired. No one fired Bahia Amawi. She refused to sign her contract with the Pflugerville School District. Amawi took a principled stand. She did it for her kids. She took this step because she is pro-BDS.

Likewise, CAIR is pro-Hamas.

Here they are filing a similar lawsuit in Maryland on behalf of BDS activist, and former CAIR-MD Government Relations Director, Saqib Ali.

As can be seen here, Saqib Ali is an admirer of Ali Abunimah. For his part, Abunimah is out of control over his hatred of Israel, and has called for the EU to supply Hamas with missile technology to make the rockets more lethal.

Additionally, we find Teher Herzallah, the Associate Director of Outreach & Grassroots Organizing for the American Muslims for Palestine, taking part in CAIR’s Maryland press conference. The American Muslims for Palestine is the second coming of the Islamic Association for Palestine. The IAP was CAIR leader Nihad Awad’s old employer and a Hamas front. Recall, that a court found the Islamic Association for Palestine liable in the Hamas drive-by assassination of David Boim. The IAP shut down rather than pay the 156 million dollars awarded to the Boim family. But less than a year later, the IAP reopened under their new name, the American Muslims for Palestine. The Boims are now suing the American Muslims for Palestine.

In light of all this, consider the following:

Glen Greenwald was the first to misstate this story and the anti-Semites on you tube ran with it. Also, Sabra dipping company may be located in Virginia, but it is made by those wascally Jews so it must be boycotted.

Is it a lie though? As TX law is worded, it requires signing a document under pain of perjury…and conceivably, what the article discusses could be stretched to be a violation of TX law. If strict scrutiny is applied, the TX law will fall. (KS modified its law in response to a lawsuit to apply only to businesses, but that new law might still end up challenged.)

Dumb people will believe other dumb people.
Reverse racism and anti-semitism is thriving!
Muslims are incompatible with our culture and all we stand for.
It’s a culture and worldview CLASH.
The whole thing is ridiculous! She claims she is not an “activist”.
This law doesn’t stop her from buying anything. She is not in a position to violate it – she is a speech pathologist.
She is not issuing contracts or business deals.
