cagcrisp – I have small positions in both barrick and Newmont. Looks like all the gold production will be in the hands of Canadian companies. That isn’t a problem with me, as I also own US and Canadian railroads, which track pretty much the same, up or down.

  6. Jerry Diekmann says

Oops! I got things turned around. Newmont (in Denver) is buying Goldcorp (in Vancouver, BC).

There WILL be Another price Increase for the 2018 Proof Palladium Today.

    New price will be $1,737.50

That would make it the 6th price Increase since Launch for a Total Increase of $350.00…

  19. cagcrisp says

Newmont Mining CEO, Gary Goldberg, was just on CNBC.

When he started speaking NEM was $31.61.

He said “as we go through our longer term plans we use $1,200.00 Gold price”…

  20. Anthony says

The spot price of gold is approaching $1,300.
Hopefully it will remain below $1,300 for when the Apollo 11 coins launch next week.
Collectors seeking the gold Apollo coins would save $12.50. I’m on the fence as to whether I will get the gold uncirculated or the proof coin.

  21. John Q. Coinage says

Anthony, I think the GOLD may sell out along with the 5z even @ THAT price, even the dollars have some potential for legs as their .999AG- but not a full Oz. That should have been done making the $1 on the ASE blank, nah would be too popular

  22. cagcrisp says

The Sold Out 2018 Proof Palladium that Launched @ a cost $1,387.50 has been repriced to $1,737.50…

  23. Jerry Diekmann says

I won’t be buying either the gold or the 5 oz. silver “dollar”. Just way too expensive and the designs are the same ones as on the silver dollars and clad coins, which are also terribly overpriced, but at least they don’t cost asmuch.

BTW, if the government stays shut down, how can they even sell these coins?

  24. Donnie says

Of course, Jerry, in the above comment, is referring to the curved 50th anniversary Apollo moon landing coins. Isn’t it interesting that the half dollar clad version, paired with an enhanced clad Kennedy half, has a published mintage limit of 100,000? Does anyone remember that the clad half dollar version of the 2014 Baseball Hall of Fame curved coin had a whopping mintage limit of 750,000? I don’t even think that this limit was reached. I’d guess that the Mint has learned from its previous miscalculation and is trying to make this half dollar offering more tempting.

  25. Achmed says

to Donnie: You should read the complete description for the product. For the commemorative clad half dollar the mintage limit is set to 750 000! Only the Kennedy enhanced reverse proof has a mintage of 100 000.

  26. Donnie says

    Achmed,
I did and realized my mistake before you posted. So, after these two coin clad sets are snapped up there will be an additional 650,000 clad Apollos trying to find a home. It’s funny that the enhanced clad Kennedy, with the exception of the gold Apollo, will have the lowest mintage of all of the offerings.
