Government Shutdown!

Schumer’s shutdown. If only we could keep this going when the party of treason takes power in the House.

Federal shutdown begins after lawmakers fail to reach deal

AP, December 22, 2018:

WASHINGTON (AP) — A partial federal shutdown took hold early Saturday after Democrats refused to meet President Donald Trump’s demands for $5 billion to start erecting his cherished Mexican border wall, a chaotic postscript for Republicans in the waning days of their two-year reign controlling government.

Story continues below advertisement

Vice President Mike Pence, Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and White House budget chief Mick Mulvaney left the Capitol late Friday after hours of bargaining with congressional leaders produced no apparent compromise. “We don’t have a deal. We’re still talking,” Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby, R-Ala., told reporters.

Late Friday, Mulvaney sent agency heads a memorandum telling them to “execute plans for an orderly shutdown.” He wrote that administration officials were “hopeful that this lapse in appropriations will be of short duration” — an expectation that was widely shared.

With negotiations expected to continue, the House and Senate both scheduled rare Saturday sessions. House members were told they’d get 24 hours’ notice before a vote.

The gridlock blocks money for nine of 15 Cabinet-level departments and dozens of agencies, including the departments of Homeland Security, Transportation, Interior, Agriculture, State and Justice.

The lack of funds will disrupt many government operations and the routines of 800,000 federal employees. Roughly 420,000 workers were deemed essential and will work unpaid just days before Christmas, while 380,000 will be furloughed, meaning they’ll stay home without pay.

Those being furloughed include nearly everyone at NASA and 52,000 workers at the Internal Revenue Service. About 8 in 10 employees of the National Park Service will stay home and many parks were expected to close.

The Senate passed legislation ensuring workers will receive back pay, which the House seemed sure to approve.

Some agencies, including the Pentagon and the departments of Veterans Affairs and Health and Human Services, were already funded for the year in agreements reached earlier, and they will operate as usual.

The U.S. Postal Service, busy delivering packages for the holiday season, will not be affected because it’s an independent agency. Social Security checks will still be mailed, troops will remain on duty and food inspections will continue.

Also still functioning will be the FBI, the Border Patrol and the Coast Guard. Transportation Security Administration officers will continue to staff airport checkpoints and air traffic controllers will also remain at work.

Trump has openly savored a shutdown over the wall for months, saying last week he’d be “proud” to have one and saying Friday he was “totally prepared for a very long” closure. While many of Congress’ most conservative Republicans were welcoming such a confrontation, most GOP lawmakers have wanted to avoid one, since polling shows the public broadly opposes the wall and a shutdown over it.

Initial Republican reaction to the shutdown was muted. Among the few GOP lawmakers who issued statements as it began were Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who expressed disappointment at the lack of a deal, and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee. “This is a complete failure of negotiations and a success for no one,” Alexander said.

“Instead of honoring his responsibility to the American people, President Trump threw a temper tantrum and convinced House Republicans to push our nation into a destructive Trump Shutdown in the middle of the holiday season,” said a joint statement by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

Despite saying last week he’d not blame Democrats for the closure, Trump and his GOP allies spent the last two days blaming Democrats anyway. Trump said now was the time for Congress to provide taxpayers’ money for the wall, even though he’s said repeatedly that Mexico will pay for it — something that country has repeatedly rebuffed.

“This is our only chance that we’ll ever have, in our opinion, because of the world and the way it breaks out, to get great border security,” Trump said Friday. Democrats will take control of the House January 3, and they oppose major funding for wall construction.

Looking for a way to claim victory, Trump said he would accept money for a “Steel Slat Barrier” with spikes on the top, which he said would be just as effective as a “wall” and “at the same time beautiful.”

Trump called GOP senators to the White House Friday morning, but Republicans said afterward that the session did not produce a strategy.

Early this week, the Senate approved a bipartisan deal keeping government open into February and providing $1.3 billion for border security projects but not the wall. In a GOP victory Thursday, the House rebelled and approved a package temporarily financing the government but also providing $5.7 billion for the border wall.

Friday afternoon, a Senate procedural vote showed that Republicans lacked the 60 votes they’d need to force that measure through their chamber. That jump-started negotiations between Congress and the White House.

Republicans conceded that one of their biggest hurdles was Trump’s legendary unpredictability and proclivity for abruptly changing his mind.

“The biggest problem is, we just don’t know what the president will sign,” said Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz.

The White House said Trump did not go to Florida on Friday as planned for the Christmas holiday.

Reduced to its basic simplicity {and Americans are welcome to correct me on this} Trump was elected with a mandate, clearly proposed, to improve security by building a southern border wall. Fine, the Mexican government refuse to pay for it as he said they would, so crowd fund it or take it from overseas aid.

As for Trumps unpredictability, so what? No captain of a ship runs affairs by a committee, one can take advice but only one makes a decision, as events force a change of course, so one mind has to change or the ship of state is at risk.

My third point is that many who comment on here about the sad if not dreadful state of security which now passes for “normal” in western Europe better remember the Democrats, by threatening to “drain the moat” {not building the wall} are determined not only to sign that Marrakesh agreement but reproduce the kind of migrant mayhem and terrorism many blame all of us on the east side of the pond for.

Remember the costs in human and cash terms if those socialist snowflakes get their way next year, all your pockets will be picked as ours are in UK or France or Germany, combined the costs register at around 145 billion Euros a year.

One thing all agree on in Europe, the speed which migrants increase their numbers always surprises, many assume you have more time and options than you really do have, you have too little of both if you want to avoid disaster.

Trump is living up to his promises. He vowed to “bomb the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit out of ISIS” and did that through Mattis. Mattis loves war and so does the establishment. Mattis is also part of the establishment. The establishment profits from it. We don’t let our allies down either as we pull out. Trump is transferring the problem to Saudi Arabia so Muslims can fight themselves. You won’t read this in the corrupt main stream media. Trump used Mattis to live up to his campaign promise. ISIS is returning to the EU and Merkel and friends are rolling out the red carpet for them.

Immigration was #1 on the list for many of us. Some of us even think it is the only issue …

Albeit there are other things on the President’s agenda, blah, blah, blah, …

The fact remains that unless the Demokkkratic-Nasties are deprived of the constant renewal of their foreign, illiterate, ignorant, substantially criminal, imported-base from s*hole countries … America is cooked.

It’s true we fight on, and we’re not done. But without stopping anti-American, pro-DemNastie immigration – and that includes asylum seekers, refugees, visa overstays, lotteries, and chains, and other “legal” migrants … it’s only a matter of time before the Left goes Full Nastie Socialist all over us.

Off topic, but …

Merry Christmas to you and yours btw.

The Trump Doctrine: Economic Security is National Security…
Posted on December 21, 2018
By sundance

President Trump has been executing a foreign policy, a clear doctrine of sorts, where national security is achieved by leveraging U.S. economic power. It is a fundamental shift in approaching both allies and adversaries; summarized within the oft repeated phrase: “economic security is national security.”

Initially, given the nature of multiple military entanglements, a traditional military approach could not easily be reversed or dispatched. Defense Secretary James Mattis was the bridge to a path forward. President Trump removed military constraints, allowed rules of engagement that were much stronger, and let Mattis work on confronting and stamping out terror threats. In essence, an aggressive “let’s get this over with” approach.

However, that strong-arm military approach cannot continue indefinitely because it will never end. James Mattis was/is one voice who doesn’t want it to end. Hammers are useless without nails. War and intervention have a long history of unnecessarily expanding if not constrained. The war machine turns into a military business.

Candidate Trump, now President Trump, campaigned on a desire to bring U.S. troops home from all the “stupid wars”, in part because they are also “expensive wars.” And as a direct consequence the time for Defense Secretary Mattis was sure to come to an end.

Trump, for the most part, has been in somewhat of a set, with Mu-Mu … ever since Mu-Mu publicly denounced Trump for not wanting taxpayers to pay for sex-change operations of military personnel. That’s where the major split, with Mu-Mu, started.

Trump doesn’t want money for the wall, contrary to what he has said. If he did, he’d not be demanding such now, given that as currently constituted, it’s basically a blank check with no checks and balances…meaning the money would likely line the pockets of Trump and his friends. When Sarah Sanders went the rounds defending Trump on Faux Fox News, she apparently was unaware or refused to do research on what happens when there are no checks and balances…you get criminal fraud, as happened with CityTime in NYC…and yes, Sanders should have known about that given that the no-bid contract was awarded by Rudy Giuliani. If Pamela Geller was unaware of the CityTime scandal, she has no business opining on this issue now at all.

What this also ensures: Nancy Pelosi can weaponize the border wall against the rest of Trump’s agenda, forcing Senate Republicans and Trump to decide what’s more important. This was Schumer’s game all along—to prevent Republicans from passing this during the lame-duck session in any form.

@disqus_clUCegMvQv:disqus – the deep state is a figment of Trump’s imagination and victim complex.

@theglobalfirm:disqus and @gonadtheruffian:disqus – that mosque vandal deserved what he got, as Florida is a three strikes law. That crime was charged as a hate crime solely to elevate a high misdemeanor to a low felony. But since Michael Wolfe had already been in jail for 2 unique instances of grand larceny prior, any felony, no matter how low, made Wolfe eligible for 25 years to life for a third unique felony conviction. Had Wolfe gone to trial and been convicted, he would have drawn a mandatory 25-to-life sentence for a third felony conviction. Someone who had no prior record would likely have drawn at most a year and a day in jail.

The negro, that broke into a synagogue in Chicago … broke all of the windows, cameras, urinated in the sanctuary, destroyed sacred relics, and painted swastikas (in purple no less), was also a repeat offender (six adult offenses … and, no NOT traffic tickets) was sentenced to “Two Days. Time Served.” and ordered into a taxpayer provided “anger management class. That was the very same weekend as the Florida bacon man. Why did the negro only receive only a two day sentence, when his crime … based upon destruction, was significantly worse. Is it because it was Chicago. Or, that he was a negro and SO WAS THE JUDGE?

This is ukfcing baloney on the part of the SATANIC Demoncrap party. The party of SATAN!

They play clips of the Demoncrap party warning about illegal immigrants coming to America by hook and crook. The same ones that DON’T want the wall built that would prevent what they were crying about from happening.

So they were just LYING to get elected then do the opposite by DOING NOTHING about it. If they do what Trump and the American people want they should have no problem with it.

SO WHY??? Maybe they are just a party of LIARS. Their dear Negro was a liar. Nothing he EVER said was true. What they say brings DEATH. Arming the enemy, allowing an invasion, whilst simultaneously disarming Americans and lying about their motives of them and your enemies.

FYI he LIE and the MURDER is the MO of SATAN!!

I expect this showdown to last for along time, certainly weeks, maybe months. Trump and his base want the wall, The Commiecrats and their base are adamantly opposed. I doubt there is a middle ground. In the meantime, we will find that at least 3/4 (maybe 9/10ths?) of these federal workers are not required at all. The private sector needs minimum wage workers and here will be about a million soon to be available.

Screw ’em. … The Federal bureaucracy has been in the hands of anti-American Nasties for decades. They voted about 90% for the enemy in the DC area … so why should we care.

If all the Feds lost their jobs – their health care insurance, their retirements, their health care, their education for their kids, their nice homes, and all the perks …

All of it would not add up to a small fraction of what they have done to America.

The cost of just the lost inventions of all the American inventors and innovators destroyed by their War on America – would probably add up to the total current value of the planet’s economy.

They created the Federal debt. They deported 350MM jobs to China and SE Asia. They imported 40MM or so illegals to commit crimes and violence and sell poison. They taught our kids to hate our culture, our nation, our people, our achievements, and our history. They are traitors through and through.

… We know why the pundits defend the rank and file – and I do feel for the ordinary chumps doing their jobs – but many Feds are arrogant, incompetent, quota quacks who could not do the job without underpaid and overworked professionals that the Left-tards will never hire b/c they are not the right color, race, creed, nationality, ethnicity, or political stripe.

I should know – I’ve trained dozens of these idiots. It’s like trying to teach bricks to stand up and walk.

… Better stop before I blow a gasket.
