Leadership And The Power Of Your Word

By Ange Fonce

We are all leaders.

Leaders of our destiny, families, jobs, and social circles.

And it is our obligation to be the best leader possible.

So many people have been conditioned by society to be lazy sheep, and technology, and an easy, comfortable life, has automated people's thinking and the way they lead their lives.

And there is a major misconception about leadership.

It is not about superiority, authority, or control - and instead, the power of your word to inspire, lead, and serve.

Being a leader is about having a vision for the creation of a better future, and inspiring others to help you reach that vision.

A Good Leader See’s Every Task To The End

How you do anything, is how you do everything.

It is about the POWER and VALUE of YOUR WORD!

A good leader sets a vision, determines what needs to be done to achieve that vision, and executes until the end. The big test is if you can stay committed to your vision when things go bad or not as expected (and usually, they do).

Will you admit defeat and retreat to your comfort zone of safety?

Or will you continue pushing forward, despite the risk, with your eyes set on a greater reward.

A true leader will set a vision, and follow through with it, despite all risks involved, and no matter what kind of adversity you will face.

A Good Leader Takes Risks

Shying away from any and all risks is not a quality of a good leader and will make finding success in relationships and life more difficult.

Living a life without risk, in the comfort zone, will trap you in mediocrity, apathy, and numb all your ambitions and lust for life.

Would you be excited to date or be in a partnership or in a business with someone who had no ambition, was unwilling to be spontaneous, or adventurous?

A poor leader will stand at the crossroads of life – paralyzed by the fear of failure.

Failure is an awesome tool for growth – it is something that will allow you to know yourself, your limits, your potential, and what you are truly capable of in life.

If you do not take any risks, you will never make true progress in life.

A Good Leader Shares Success

A good leader works hard to achieve their goals - and is also humble and knows that success is not a solo effort.

When it comes to anything in life – it is not about you. It is about the group. It is not a player vs. player game. It is a cooperative game, where you are working together to reach a goal, be it a fun night out, a relationship, or an adventure or a business or a cause.

You must inspire others with your passion, vision and the power of your word.

You must be grateful for everyone who helps play a part in any success, and you must understand that people love to be recognized for their contributions – no matter how small.

A Good Leader Accepts Fault

To maximize your leadership qualities, you have to learn to take responsibility for failure. Blaming others will completely erode any confidence and loyalty your supports have in you.

You must assume all of the responsibility for every consequence of every decision – even if you are not truly at fault.

And lastly…

The greatest leaders in history have had moments of extreme success, and moments of devastating defeat.

It is about how you react to the failure, or respond to success, which makes for a great leader.

True leaders focus on what they can control:

How they react and respond in the present moment.

Dwelling on the past or feeling uncertain about the future will do nothing for a leader.

And this reminds me of a powerful lesson a mentor shared with me:

When times are good, they're never as good as you think. And when times are bad, they’re never as bad as you think.

This has forced me to live “in the middle” – not getting carried away with my successes, and not letting the bad times make me feel less worthy.

Great leaders are capable of getting a group to experience or produce the most amount of whatever those people believe they need.

What do people think and feel you can produce or inspire people to produce?

It does not have to be something material – like money or food. It can be experiences as well, like adventures, great nights out, or romances.

If you do not have the slightest clue how to do that - you would be better to focus your energy on getting really, really good at something. For me, it was learning to master coaching and social intelligence among other things.

Today, I want to help you understand how to find what you can focus on.

Because when you are aiming for mastery at something, you build confidence and clarity... Something that is necessary for a leader, especially in social situations to “become the master” at something.

I recently re-read Robert Greene’s book, Mastery, and felt my notes could help you on your quest... If you did not know, Robert Greene is the author of classics like 48 Laws of Power and The Art of Seduction.

Here is my understanding of his book, Mastery:

First, you must find your calling. This is the most important, and probably the “hardest” step towards Mastery, this is because once you know your calling, things start to fall into place.

You must learn how to listen to yourself and what you love to do.

You were born as a unique organism, and have your own unique contribution to share with the world. We talk about this with storytelling. When  you are with others the ability to express this unique perspective (and see it in others) is universally attractive and engaging.

It has been on display since your childhood, and you have been naturally inclined towards it all along.

You must return to your roots...

What do you find fascinating?

What problems have you helped yourself overcome?

What is the ultimate truth in which you live your life by?

The first step to mastery is answering those questions.

After you identify your calling, you must reframe your perception of the work it takes to get to the next level. All practice has hurdles involved in it, and the masters persevere and jump those hurdles. You must learn to see everything as part of the journey. Everything you do is a stepping-stone towards this calling.

In regard to social situations, as you progress you will start to notice more and more people entering your life.

This is all part of the quest towards your ultimate calling.

A Good Leader Is Generous In LOVE!

Every single skill you acquire, and every single thing you build – will end up building you.

And that is the last thought I want to impart about leadership.

Leadership is not always about being in control. In fact, the ability to delegate, to listen, to try out an idea that is not your own is just as important as what you can do and say yourself.

As a leader – it is not just you. It is the group. It is you and the people you are with working together to meet a perceived goal.

Out on a meet up with others, the need may be adventure, it may be romance, it may be just an awesome relaxing night out with great conversation, AND it is not all about you. It is you and that other person or other people working together to create an unforgettable experience.

Have you any thoughts or comments you would like to share with me on what I have written?

I would love to hear from you.

Thank you and may you enjoy a Loving, Caring, Prosperious and Dynamic day!

Yours Sincerely
