YAY! Two Celebration Cards for Birthdays and More! {Impression Obsession}

Oh friends, as promised. . .I have more birthday card cuteness today, just for YOU! (If you missed yesterday's birthday cards, check them out HERE!) I'm smitten to pieces with the new birthday and balloon dies from Impression Obsession. I'm always ready for some fresh new birthday products for card making, but these cuties are so timeless and fun, I just know we'll be using them for years to come!

Yesterday's cards had a bit of primary colors in the mix, so I gave today's cards more of a bright pastel vibe. First up, let's look at the aqua happy birthday card. You might recognize that inky oval in the background? (See yesterday's card if you don't!) Just because that awesome A4 Window stencil has three ovals, doesn't mean you have to use all three! Just one might be the perfect landing spot for your sentiment. Then, keep it clean and simple with a starry stamped background.
And remember that balloons aren't only for birthdays. This next card idea could celebrate a new baby, an anniversary, or yes indeed...a birthday. I grabbed my other new-ish favorite product, the Script YAY die. It pairs so perfectly with these balloons!
Are you loving this festive and fun release from Impression Obsession? (Yes, I know, of course you are!) Today is Day 2 of our designer blog hop, celebrating all of the May release at IO. Be sure you've hit all the blogs on the hop so you don't miss any awesome inspiration!

Two Festive Birthday Card Ideas Everyone Will Love! {Impression Obsession}

Oh goodness, my friends! I've been so excited to share the colorful and fun birthday cards I made with Impression Obsession's latest release! This festive array of birthday goodness will be product you (and I!) pull from again and again and again . . .as long as people keep having birthdays, we are going to LOVE making cards with these dies!

Both of today's cards are almost die-cutting exclusive. There's only a hint of stamping involved, plus a little bit of simple stenciling. Let's talk first about the HAPPY HAPPY birthday card. To begin this card, I used the A4 Windows stencil set. See those aqua ovals in the background? Just sponge some ink and make the perfect landing spot for your big, bold birthday sentiment.
I may have mentioned one of my favorite die-cutting techniques is to just jump in and die cut a bunch of elements in my chosen color scheme, and then mix and match to get some cards put together. That's exactly what I did for today's cards. I cut the happy birthday sentiment from about five colors to start with, and picked out what I wanted. Why just say Happy birthday, when you can say HAPPY HAPPY birthday!?

Next, I die cut a bunch of balloons in my same color palette and tucked them around my sentiment. This card was finished off with a few little stamped stars and enamel dots. I LOVE how this one came together.  This idea could be easily duplicated in whatever color palette you love!
Here's another idea with the balloon and birthday dies. Some polka dotted paper became the base of this design, paired with more of my stash of die-cut goodies. I love that the balloon dies include dies for the string, but you could also draw it, or use actual string if you want. Lots of options here!

Today, my friends, is just the beginning. The designers at Impression Obsession are celebrating the May release with a blog hop that's jam packed with inspiration just for YOU! I hope you'll hop around and see what everyone else has been creating. And then, pop back here tomorrow for the second day! (I might have MORE adorable celebration cards to share. . .and they're soooooo cuuuuuuuute!)

Hello Sweet Friend! Try This Card Idea With Stencil Stacking

Earlier this week I shared some sweet honey bee themed card making ideas, using stamps and stencils. Today I'm back with another idea using the Sweet As Honey stamp set from Impression Obsession, as well as two fantastic stencils stacked together for a whole new look. This is an idea you can try using the stencils you have in your stash.

This blog post contains affiliate links. When you make purchases through my links I receive compensation at no cost to you. Thank you from the bottom of my crafty heart!

Today's stamp set, Sweet as Honey, has a variety of cute bee themed images like honey, bees of course, sweet sentiments and tea pots. All of these little images needed a place to land, and I loved the idea of multiple landing spots that move your eye around the card. There's lots to look at, but it doesn't feel cluttered or busy because of the repetition of the honeycomb circles in the background.

How exactly did I make those honeycomb circles?
I'm so glad you asked! ;)
This is where stencil layering, or stencil stacking comes into play. In this blog post, I created a card with the same exact technique - with just one large circle.

Here's what to do:
  • Choose a patterned stencil (like today's honeycomb
  • Choose a stencil with a larger opening, like a circle or square shape. For this card, I used the six-circle stencil from the A4 Window Stencils set, which has a variety of shapes that are perfect for this technique.
  • Layer the patterned stencil and the circles stencil together and ink over them together onto your card. (Use washi tape to help your layers stay in place if desired)
Today is Team Favorites Day on the Impression Obsession blog, and the designers all have some of our favorite projects and products from this month's release, that we love sharing with you! I'm so glad you stopped by today, and I hope you find lots of inspiration along the hop! xoxo

Happy Graduation! Handmade Card Ideas to Celebrate Your Grad! {New from Impression Obsession}

Graduation season is almost upon us and it's so special to honor the grads in our life with handmade cards and gifts. It's a season filled with nostalgia and celebration and maybe a teensy bit of stress as we help our graduates cross the finish line. Make your graduates a card, gift card holder, or party decor that's customized just for them, using their school colors. They'll love the extra thought and time you put in to celebrate their accomplishments. Today I'll share some simple ideas you can start with, to knock out your graduation cards in no time!

This blog post contains affiliate links. When you purchase through my links, I receive compensation at no cost to you. Thank you from the bottom of my crafty heart!

All of today's cards begin with the adorable graduation cap die set, so let's start there. This new die set from Impression Obsession includes the pieces to make two caps, one slightly larger than the other. Each cap only has three pieces, so it's quite simple to assemble. You can mix and match with colors - I even used some glittered cardstock for added sparkle!

The striped cards below are a great way to bring school colors into the design. Cut strips into assorted heights, and then layer them together onto a card base. I made both of these cards at the same time, so it was quick and easy. Plus, since I die cut the graduation caps at the same time, I had everything I needed all at once. A die cut landing spot, and a simple stamped sentiment finished off these cards in no time!
Lastly, a few die cut clouds and graduation caps were all I needed to assemble this festive grad card. Remember, graduation caps don't have to be black! It's another fun way to personalize your card especially for your graduate.
Today is Day 2 of the Impression Obsession designers blog hop. We're celebrating all the great new stamps, dies, paper, and stencils in the April release. I hope you'll stop and see what all of my crafty peeps have created!
