Not Art – Just SICK

30

The norming of jihad. Makin’ it all cool and shit.

This is what the left has done to the whole of the culture, dragged us kicking and screaming into the abyss.

Ayn Rand on art:

Story continues below advertisement

Art is man’s metaphysical mirror; what a rational man seeks to see in that mirror is a salute; what an irrational man seeks to see is a justification—even if only a justification of his depravity, as a last convulsion of his betrayed self-esteem.

Between these two extremes, there lies the immense continuum of men of mixed premises—whose sense of life holds unresolved, precariously balanced or openly contradictory elements of reason and unreason—and works of art that reflect these mixtures. Since art is the product of philosophy (and mankind’s philosophy is tragically mixed), most of the world’s art, including some of its greatest examples, falls into this category.

=============

Consider two statues of man: one as a Greek god, the other as a deformed medieval monstrosity. Both are metaphysical estimates of man; both are projections of the artist’s view of man’s nature; both are concretized representations of the philosophy of their respective cultures.

=============

The emotion involved in art is not an emotion in the ordinary meaning of the term. It is experienced more as a “sense” or a “feel,” but it has two characteristics pertaining to emotions: it is automatically immediate and it has an intense, profoundly personal (yet undefined) value-meaning to the individual experiencing it. The value involved is life, and the words naming the emotion are: “This is what life means to me.”

Fury over ‘beheading’ art exhibition where the public pretend to be murdered by Jihadi John

  • The work featured at the Gogbot art festival in the east Dutch city of Enschede
  • Visitors can pose as the victim of a beheading using the controversial artwork
  • Politicians from several parties called for it to be removed from the festival

By George Martin For Mailonline, 10 September 2018:

An art installation where visitors are encouraged to have a photo taken next to an Islamic State terrorist waiting to behead them has been blasted by politicians.

The artwork, which is part of an exhibition at the Gogbot art and music festival in the Eastern Dutch city of Enschede, features a full-size picture of ISIS terrorist Jihadi John dressed entirely in black printed on a wooden board.

Next to the ISIS executioner sits his victim dressed in an orange jumpsuit down on his knees shortly before being beheaded.

The face of the victim is however cut out of the board, which allows visitors to the art exhibition to pose for a picture as an ISIS victim.

The art exhibition is on show in a gallery in the eastern Dutch city of Enschede and has drawn widespread criticism

The controversial artwork called ‘phantom pain’ was created by 22-year-old Anne Bothmer, who argued that ‘lorries driving into crowds, bombings and shootings’ caused a ‘massive stream of irrational reactions.’

Bothmer wrote: ‘As a spectator of these attacks we do not want to experience it, but we want to be part of it. The overarching tone of the messages within the aftermath amplifies a feeling of collective victimisation by European citizens.

‘However, in comparison there were only a few who were really present at the attacks and the rest of Europe only perceived them through cinematic and photographic imagery.

By using a provocative approach, my work unites these traumatic events with our own hyper reality, whereby the spectator is able to review his or her position.

‘Because, can you call yourself a victim when you were not being present at one of these terrorist attacks?’

As soon as the work was unveiled local politicians from different parties called for the removal of the IS artwork.

Politicians have called on the Gogobot music and art festival to remove the installation

Arjan Brouwer of Democratic Platform Enschede said: ‘We call urgently upon the mayor to act and remove this element of Gogbot immediately from the event.

‘This picture of genocide does not belong at this event and needlessly confronts our inhabitants and children with terrorism, human suffering and traumatic experiences which they went through in the country they fled from.’

Bothmer said she was surprised by all the commotion.

She added: ‘I stand firmly behind my work, even though I understand [those] people well.’

Bothmer said that ‘the reactions of visitors are mostly positive’.

The festival organisation and the mayor of Enschede have not yet reacted to the outrage over the IS artwork.

How disgusting! How can the Dutch complain when some degenerate plows his van down a sidewalk, or stabs several people in a subway station, when they are doing this kind of s**t, which is akin to promoting terrorism no matter what the insane “artist” says.

Now don’t worry, spacecockian. You’ve apparently been mixing pysch meds again. Stupid comments like that are a symptom. Tell the nurse on your ward about your situation and she’ll get you fixed up with some soothing, high dose, electro shock therapy. You won’t ever be normal but, at least it’ll give you something else to do besides hogging the computer and not letting other patients use it.

The picture of the assassin and his victim is what British SAS troops look for. On more than one occasion, an assassin’s head has exploded from a sniper’s round just before the execution. Good hunting…..

As I’ve said many times, one of the primary characteristics of leftism is malignant narcissism.

This is deeply shocking, for sure…but you know, according to the article, the artist made the piece in order to help Europeans understand firsthand how graphic and horrific the experience must have been for those being executed. Maybe they do need a wake-up call, too many of them live in a bubble where they still don’t believe Islamic terror is a serious problem.

I’m not sure she sees reaction to such horror as “rational”.

Bothmer participates with the terrorist in the sense that she exploits the beheading victim further and abuses the public with her “provocative approach” against their empathy and disgust at brutal attacks and terror.

Is it true she plans to install a similar exhibit at a former concentration camp?

Why does EVERYTHING to do with Muslims and Islam, and everything it touches, turn into something vile and sick? This phony religion is truly evil.

Let me see if I’ve got this straight: According to the artist, Anne Bothmer, born 1996, we are affected by the stories of terrorism because of media and our desire to be part of what is happening; but most of us aren’t actually affected. So she’s offering the viewer an opportunity to participate more directly and examine their actual emotional reactions. Clearly in this context her intended reaction is humorous, (rather than say a room full of decapitated heads floating in pools of blood.) In her words, “Because, can you call yourself a victim when you were not being present at one of these terrorist attacks?” No we are not the victims, we are human beings who share a sense of humanity and empathize with the victims and their families over this horror.

The artist’s political leanings are not known for certain, but the Left does generally try to minimize terrorism and that seems the objective here. Obama repeatedly pointed out how rare terrorist violence is and that the risk is minimal. Nicolas Kristof wrote, “Are terrorists more of a threat than slippery bathtubs? President Obama, er, slipped into hot water when The Atlantic reported that he frequently suggests to his staff that fear of terrorism is overblown, with Americans more likely to die from falls in tubs than from attacks by terrorists. The timing was awkward, coming right before the Brussels bombings, but Obama is roughly right on his facts: 464 people drowned in America in tubs, sometimes after falls, in 2013, while 17 were killed here by terrorists in 2014 (the most recent years for which I could get figures). Of course, that’s not an argument for relaxing vigilance, for at some point terrorists will graduate from explosives to nuclear, chemical or biological weapons that could be far more devastating than even 9/11. But it is an argument for addressing global challenges a little more rationally.” https://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/24/opinion/terrorists-bathtubs-and-snakes.html

Meantime, we’re all supposed to feel terrible if one or two confused transgender teenagers has to use a bathroom which doesn’t conform to their gender identity, or use the faculty toilet. They may be scarred for life! Strange priorities on the Left.

In fairness I don’t know what the artist’s views are towards transgenders. Maybe she doesn’t give a damn about them either because her premise is if you are not personally affected, it’s something you can mock.

In retaliation why don’t we show the blown apart bodies of terrorist? Where’s the artist for that? Too scared, I guess. Like MS said, they won’t ever do that because they want to eat out at restaurants in peace and sleep well at night.

No, they are not concerned about you at all. Just a meal and going home in one peace is all they care about.

*Giving air time to an ass****, that lived his pathetic life as an ass****, and ended like an ass***
*Being an attention whore, disguising shock as art, to attract attention. Milo Moire does the same, but at least she uses something nice, the great body she has.
*Serving as a good slave to the cause of islamization.

She is 22. She doesn’t understand anything. She is nothing but an arrogant, brainwashed child, who is devoid of compassion for her own people. But then who can blame her when the reaction of officials is to express concern for Muslim migrants, for those who kill in the name of their god. Everything about this is insane.
