The New York Times Has Just Hired A New Writer…And She’s A Racist!

91

Please help me to understand something. Is a racist remark only considered racist if a white person utters it? What is it called when an Asian makes a bigoted remark about a white person? Or hundreds of them? Just curious, because the new hire at the New York Times Editorial Board, Sarah Jeong, an Asian, really, really doesn’t like white people – at all.

On Wednesday, the New York Times proudly announced that Sarah Jeong would be joining them.

What would it be like if we all deleted Facebook? What does the future of online privacy look like? Why can’t the tech industry diversify? Are monkeys allowed to sue over copyrights? And what in the world is #cockygate?

Story continues below advertisement

To answer questions like these, the editorial board will soon be turning to Sarah Jeong, who will join us in September as our lead writer on technology. Sarah will also collaborate with Susan Fowler Rigetti, our incoming tech op-ed editor, and Kara Swisher, our latest contributor on tech issues.

Sarah has guided readers through the digital world with verve and erudition, staying ahead of every turn on the vast beat that is the internet.

She arrives most recently from the Verge, where she’s a senior writer. She also authored the book, “The Internet of Garbage,” which examines the many forms of online harassment, free speech, and the challenges of moderating platforms and social media networks.

Born in South Korea, Sarah grew up in North Carolina and California. She’s both a journalist and a lawyer. As a student at Harvard Law School, she edited the Journal of Law & Gender and worked at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. She was a Poynter Fellow in Journalism at Yale for 2016 and was named to Forbes 30 under 30 for Media in 2017. She’s written for The Atlantic, Vice’s Motherboard, The Washington Post, and The New York Times Magazine.

Sarah lives in Portland, Ore., and will be writing for us from there. She’ll pay us a visit in the early fall, and we hope you’ll all join us in welcoming her then.”

Smart young woman. Great resume. But take a look at some of her tweets.

In case you would like to see more of Ms. Jeong’s prose, the link below will bring you to a collection of all of her tweets that mention “white people.”

https://twitter.com/search?q=from%3Asarahjeong%20%22white%20people%22&src=typd

Okay, so what should the New York Times do? How can the newspaper keep her on when they denounce Roseanne Barr for an extremely stupid, but singular racist tweet?

This isn’t just a tweet or two on a desperate day. Apparently, this is Ms. Jeong’s worldview. She certainly offers no apologies or excuses for her behavior.

Okay Gray Lady, it’s your move.

Something about our ‘..fragile white privilege and inherent racism..’ if we mention her person of colour, victim of racism and sexism’s apparent racism. Somehow, someway, somewhere, there’s a cis alt right white male to blame for the controversy.

…cis alt right white male…

What is “cis?”

joscefi

Reply to  scherado

Properly, it’s a term from chemistry, “…denoting or relating to a molecular structure in which two particular atoms or groups lie on the same side of a given plane in the molecule, in particular denoting an isomer in which substituents at opposite ends of a carbon–carbon double bond are on the same side of the bond…”.

It has been taken by the social justice/trans-sexual lobby and is used now to mean someone who identifies with the sex they were born as.

Just as gender was taken from grammar, people have a sex, cis has been usurped from science to give a clinical gloss to unscientific feelings based beliefs,

Then “cis”:transgender as straight:homosexual? (“cis is to transgender as straight is to homosexual”; your standard SAT question.)

George Soros Bought $3 Million in New York Times Stock Holdings
By Joshua Caplan
June 13, 2018

“Soros’s stock buy included 126,400 shares in the New York Times Company through Soros Fund Management LLC, the billionaire’s New York City-based investment firm. The shares were valued at $3,046,000 at the time of purchase and are shown in a May 15 filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC),” reports the Free Beacon.

Media Research Center’s Dan Gainor says industry watchers shouldn’t dismiss the investment despite its modest sum.

“Soros has long had influence or given direct funding to a wide range of journalism operations from NPR to ProPublica,” said Gainor, adding, “This is still a big step to be buying a $3-million stake in the top liberal outlet in America.”

Soros Fund Management, the 87-year-old’s primary investment vehicle, was recently revealed to have secretly backed SF Bloodstock and SF Racing Group, who own 15 percent of the breeding rights for Justify, the Triple Crown horse.

In October 2017, the progressive billionaire transferred $18 billion to Open Society Foundations, the global grantmaking network which champions left-wing causes ranging from mass migration to climate change advocacy.

Please help me to understand something. Is a racist remark only considered racist if a white person utters it?

Oh, come on! We all know, or remember… wait, maybe we all don’t.

I don’t remember when, but it was at least a few decades ago when first I heard or read that, “minorities can’t be racist,” or some such thing having the same implications. Also–again, some large number of years ago–I was told that only the people with power can be racist. Therefore, the people in positions of power (whites, traditionally) and those of European and American lineage can be racist; And, now, we know–are told that–these groups are racist no matter what constitution they possess, no matter what moral tenets they follow. I do think that I read this somewhere recently.

Let’s all agree upon a few things (in broad strokes):

1. Several disparate (separate) civilizations developed after the glaciers receded 10,000 years ago. (The end of the last “ice-age” marks the beginning of the long march up to the present–for all sentient beings on land. Some “fishes” may have done just fine under sea level. Eh?)

2. Tool-development for each was disparate (unequal).

3. The one that had the best tool-development ruled the day, had it’s way. Eh?

4. If someone has a problem with “whitie”, then let that person renounce, reject, abjure by solemn oath or not, everything “White.”

5. If anyone did #4, then that person would be in “third-world” state of being.

I am SO tired of so many different races, and nationalities, appropriating my culture. Every time they enter a hospital … they are appropriating MY culture. Every time they wear Western dress (suit, sport coat, jeans, button down shirts, leather shoes …) they are appropriating MY culture. Every time they flip a light switch, use a telephone (land line or cellular), or a computer, or get in an automobile, or utilize central heating and HVAC, or a water closet, or running water .. Asians, half-Asians, Polynesians, Malays, Indochinese
– we are all white by my books
– and genetically, humans do not even have ‘races’
– just slight color variations
– like different colors of horses: these are not ‘races’ of horses

– many species have a ‘white variant’
http://www.newsweek.com/there-no-such-thing-race-283123
– Polar bears are the white variant of the Grizzly
– Arctic wolves are the white variant of the grey wolf
– ghost deer are white variants [not albinos]
– etc etc.
– in humans, the white variant did better in the North
– because they could bind vitamin D better in low sunlight
– 3 to 5 mm of skin melanin concentration variations
– is not enough to make distinct genetic ‘races’
– all humans can interbreed

Achmed Mohandjob
Achmed Mohandjob

Then, as opposed to calling it “race” or “races”, we should call it “breed” or “breeds”.

DemocracyRules
DemocracyRules

Yes we could to that informally
– but biologists don’t recognize breeds because the genetic boundaries are too fuzzy
– for example Cocker Spaniels and Poodles were distinct
– but now ‘Cocka-Poos’ abound
– however, for sure, discrimination and bias do exist
– in all humans, and many other species
– because they are part of normal thought processes
– for example, I have a strong bias for ‘chocolaty’ ice creams
– and a negative bias against licorice ice creams
– we all categorize and have preferences
– and therefore prejudice and discrimination is present in all humans
– there is no ‘off switch’, we cannot turn it off
– we can only fiddle with the volume control

If there is no such thing as race, but recognition of breeds (American Kennel Club, etc.), why would we do that “informally”?
Would that not change the terminology to “breedists” as opposed to “racists”?

DemocracyRules

Ach:
– so as you can see, someone who accuses others of ‘racism’
– is implicitly saying, “I do not know what ‘race’ is.”
– and they are also saying, “I do not know about the psychology of prejudice”
– prejudice = pre – judge
– and therefore, logically, anyone who calls a stranger ‘racist’
– is exhibiting prejudice, because they are pre-judging that person
– and it’s probably better not to use the word ‘racist’ at all

I have to wonder what makes an Asian woman so consumed with hate for old white men?
The Rape of Nanking?
Being pimped out as a Comfort Woman?
Being forced to walk around on glass bottom balconies without underwear?
I once saw a radical speaker, a white woman consumed with hate for old white men, who claimed that the thing the Vietnamese hated most about the Vietnam War was the American soldiers raping the Vietnamese girls.
Many years later I was talking to a Vietnamese American friend who told me it wasn’t generally the white GIs.
This woman in question here, Sarah, is the personal beneficiary of the American involvement and policy of Containment of old white American men, who bequeathed to her: Capitalism, Freedom, Economic Opportunity, Rule of Law, Due Process, the Middle Class and Social Prosperity. To her and to her country; to her parents and their parents.
She has had every privilege in the greatest country on Earth, conceived and built by old white men and women.
She must be searching for an identity and looking for a place to fit in.
That’s the case with all the congenital malcontents and emotionally disturbed and angry people who call themselves journalists (and Democrats) today, each one looking to out-do the other in terms of hysterical radical hyperbole.
That’s ingratitude.
That’s the Out-of-Control Leftist Media.

Racism is racist attitude and behavior, not skin color.
Skin color is the target of racism.
Like whites who are called ‘racist’ for being white!
The ones prejudging them based on skin color and calling them racists… are the racists, not the whites! (where not enough info. is available, some are racist and some aren’t, just like with all race groups)
If people don’t know that…. it simply does not get any stupider.
