The Star Tribune reported Monday that “relatives of a Minneapolis woman who was fatally shot by a police officer responding to her 911 call have filed a federal lawsuit claiming the officer who fired and his partner conspired to cover up evidence by not turning on their body-worn cameras and later hiding behind a ‘blue wall of silence.’”
There is ample reason to support the claims in this suit, which is seeking more than $50 million in damages.
Justine Ruszczyk Damond called 911 in Minneapolis in July 2017 to report what she thought might be a rape; when police arrived, she approached the police car, and Muslim Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor shot her dead. After that, Noor refused for months to be interviewed by investigators, although he spoke to friends about what happened and why. The more Noor and those who know him spoke, the more it became clear: he didn’t act in self-defense, as he has implausibly claimed.

Mohamed Noor is a Somali Muslim. He was the first Somali Muslim on the Minneapolis police force. In 2016, Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges expressed her excitement about that fact: “I want to take a moment to recognize Officer Mohamed Noor, the newest Somali officer in the Minneapolis Police Department. Officer Noor has been assigned to the 5th Precinct, where his arrival has been highly celebrated, particularly by the Somali community in and around Karmel Mall.”
Hodges wasn’t excited because Mohamed Noor had the skills necessary to become a fine police officer. She was only excited because he represented a religious and ethnic that she was anxious to court. And it became increasingly clear, as we learned about Mohamed Noor’s nervousness and jumpiness and lack of respect for women, and from his own account of events that he relayed to friends (that he was “startled” and reacted by opening fire), that Mohamed Noor was not cut out to be a policeman. He did not have the temperament for it.
So why was he on the force at all? Because he was the first Somali Muslim on the Minneapolis police force. He was a symbol of our glorious multicultural mosaic. He was a rebuke to “Islamophobes” and proof that what they say is false. Minneapolis authorities placed a great deal of faith in Mohamed Noor. He was for them the triumph of diversity, the victory of their worldview. But he has let them down.
Mohamed Noor is clearly a trigger-happy, panicky, reckless individual who held his job not because he was fit for it, but because of what he symbolized. And in the wake of his failure, Minneapolis multiculturalists made no effort to reconsider the errors of judgment that led to Noor being hired as a policeman in the first place. On the contrary, they doubled down. Hodges immediately recognized — as authorities do everywhere after jihad attacks — that the real victim was not the woman who was killed, but the Muslim community. She should have issued a statement saying that she recognized that Mohamed Noor was not hired because he was competent, but because he was a Somali Muslim, and that she sees now that Leftist social engineering on the police force costs lives. She should have promised that from now on, police officers will be hired based on their fitness for the job, not their religion or ethnicity.

Justine’s death is a tragedy for our city. We cannot compound that tragedy by turning to racism, xenophobia, and Islamophobia. It is unjust and ridiculous to assert that an entire community be held responsible for the actions of one person. That will not be tolerated in Minneapolis. Mayor Hodges saw her primary duty right after the killing of Justine Ruszczyk Damond to reassure Muslims and warn against “Islamophobia,” as if a non-Muslim police officer had shot an unarmed Muslim woman. But that’s not what happened. And in issuing this warning, Hodges was only reinforcing the false premises that led to the killing of Justine Ruszczyk Damond in the first place: the idea that Muslims are a victimized, persecuted community that needs special consideration, such that an incompetent Muslim police officer had to be hired. This just ensures that in the future, there will be more Justine Ruszczyk Damonds.

What does need to happen is that people like Hodges need to be replaced with sane people who have respect for the law-respecting people of that city, and a grip on reality when it comes to crimes committed by the Muslim community, of which there are plenty.

The cops were called, she saw their car parked there for a while, she went out in a housecoat and slippers to see them, then out of no where this murderer shoots right across the lap of his partner. Vigilantism is illegal. As long as the rule of law still obtains even somewhat in this country, the legal system is responsible for investigating this incident, and if necessary, charging Noor for his wrongdoing. If that does not happen, the legal system will have been shown to be corrupt and will lose legitimacy in the eyes of the public.
The primary responsibility of the public at this moment is to keep the heat on the officials who want to shove this incident under the rug in the hope it will go away. Since the victim was a foreign national visiting this country – Damond was an Australian citizen – the Australian government will doubtless also keep the pressure on city officials to do the right thing.
I hope the Australian government goes to the Trump administration and gets aid in pressing their case against Minneapolis officials as well as the mayor. If I was in their position, that’s what I’d be doing.
We probably agree that it is an outrage that Noor is being treated so well after what he did, but the blunt fact of the matter is that resolution of this matter is now in the hands of investigators and the legal system.

It’s actually a Sudanese problem, with teenage gangs in Victoria doing house invasions, torturing civilians even after they’ve handed over their valuables and generally giving the law the finger. Betsy Hodges.. I lived in that area in the 1980s and early 90s, and it was “strong and beautiful” long before the Somali community invaded it by thousands and tried to Islamify the native culture there. The Somalis have proven to be a problem wherever they go. As employees they are too often arrogant, defiant, and non-cooperative. They enter the U.S. with a chip on their shoulders and refuse to make serious effort to integrate. They perpetual and nurture violent gangs of youth and condone things like Shariah oppression of women, mistreatment of animals, child marriage, and rape. People like Hodges are ignorant of these real issues, and do real harm to the hard-working citizens of Minneapolis.

I am sure there is a Somali immigrant out there that might make a good police officer, but this guy was not the one. From what I remember of the story, the woman was in her pajamas and Noor fired from inside the car, ACROSS HIS PARTNER! That caused some serious ear damage. What could have possibly scared him so? We will never know, because anything he says will be taqqiya. It is blatantly obvious that the City of Minneapolis was extremely negligent in their hiring of, and then advancing this individual to be on the streets, in uniform armed with a lethal weapon.

New York City has thousands of police officers, and a very large number of them are Muslims. This, I know, but I have to wonder about cities like Dearborn Mi.
Gushing over hiring a minority is a way of showing off, but the result is that you just get a body of a certain ethnic caliber. It is almost like Affirmative Action, hiring minorities based on their being minority. This means the best people are not selected, based on their “whiteness” in favor of a minority. In this case, Muslim. But colleges also observe this quota and bright students are refused entry. This is not fair to anybody. The jobs and school entry should only be merit based.
The city made a mistake hiring Noor. I wonder how he passed entry exams, or a mental health evaluation. If that was never checked, or disregarded, then I hope that city pays, but any money they shell out, comes from the taxpayers pocket, not Noor.

Hodges should have posted, “We stand with the victims of this horrific incident, and we will find out if Noor was influenced by his religion.” Etc. I wonder if the victim was going to report that she had been raped by a Somali Muslim & Noor decided to protect his community by killing her. It has happened. Fact is devout Islamics can’t really say they believe in the Constitution of the USA so how can they be trusted to enforce the nation’s laws which to them aren’t worthy of respect since they contradict Sharia Law which to them is supreme?
Robert Spencer is a case in point. In this country, he has to live in fear because he practices his constitutional right of free speech is saying things that offend Islamics! These Islamic immigrants come over to western countries & set up their Sharia mafia that enforces their rules of physically assaulting and terroristically threatening those who offend them like Robert Spencer which should concern us all! FINALLY!! I was wondering what took so long for the family of Justine to sue the Minneapolis PD!!! I hope the family gets everything they ask for.
