YouTube Will Deem ‘Quality News’ Sources to Fight Fake News

16

YouTube has been kicking off a campaign to work with news organizations to pick and choose which outlets are of high enough “quality” to post videos on its site.

That’s code for this: How to Censor Conservatives.

YouTube is mulling now how best to change its format to support only those posts it deems appropriate. That it’s actively working with only a handful of carefully selected news organizations to determine what’s appropriate and what’s not is a red-flag sign of the censorship that’s coming to those with conservative views.

From the Daily Caller News Foundation:

YouTube is working with news organizations to deem “authoritative” and “quality” news sources in an effort to combat fake news and conspiracy theories.

“[W]e’re announcing steps we’re taking with the GNI [Google News Initiative] to support the future of news in online video, and product features we’ve been working on to improve the news experience on YouTube,” company executives announced on Monday.

Owned by Google, YouTube is committing $25 million to the cause in three areas: paying experts to review the news, donating money for innovation and financially supporting news outlets it considers credible and in need of monetary support.

YouTube will also change its format to fit the new format, which will show approved videos at the top of search results for news-related searches and also includes a breaking news section of YouTube-approved videos on the homepage. The company is set to debut the new format in the coming weeks.

“Journalists often write articles first to break the news rather than produce videos,” the company executives wrote. “That’s why in the coming weeks in the U.S. we will start providing a short preview of news articles in search results on YouTube that link to the full article during the initial hours of a major news event, along with a reminder that breaking and developing news can rapidly change.”

As the world’s largest video-sharing platform, videos that receive a large number of views have the ability to earn a profit. YouTube said it wants to support credible news organizations earn money in a sector plagued by financial problems.

“We believe quality journalism requires sustainable revenue streams and that we have a responsibility to support innovation in products and funding for news,” wrote YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan and Chief Business Officer Robert Kyncl.

Experts YouTube considers are Vox Media, Jovem Pan and India Today.

“We’re establishing a working group with news organizations and experts from around the world to help us develop new product features, improve the news experience on YouTube, and tackle emerging challenges,” the video-sharing platform added.

The company said it will expand the number of outlets it will work with in the coming weeks.

YouTube’s grants to help innovation will “enable our partners to build key capabilities, train staff on video best practices, enhance production facilities and develop formats optimized for online video.”

YouTube has come under fire for its trending section promoting conspiracy theories.

In one case, as reported by The Daily Caller News Foundation, the top trending video was a local news outlet interviewing Parkland, Florida, shooting survivor David Hogg about his friend getting into trouble with the police at a beach.

The video, “Confrontation Between Lifeguard, Bodysurfer Caught On Camera In Redondo Beach Goes Viral,” itself was not conspiratorial, as it was a real interview. What was considered conspiratorial was the video’s description, which said, “DAVID HOGG THE ACTOR….”

The video launches a conspiracy that Hogg is a crisis actor meant to prop up anti-gun legislation in the wake of the school shooting in Parkland. Check Your Fact verified that this is a false conclusion.

Hate speech does that. What constitutes “hate speech” is subjective and as you know one sided. Something has to be done about this.

Yup! We also need to BAN foreign money in our EDUCATION!

I guess the swamp thinks they have us cornered. Politicians are funded by the globalists, lie to us, do their bidding and which ever candidate wins will do their bidding. Maybe that is why there is no outcry from the uniparty.

Religious education needs overhaul to ‘reflect UK’, says report
Jul 17, 2018 by The Guardian (UK)

Ex-education secretary says assemblies, syllabus and admissions policy need change

Religious education in schools is outdated and should be replaced with a new subject: religion, belief and values, and the right of parents to withdraw their children from classes should be scrapped, according to the former Labour education secretary Charles Clarke.

Significant shifts in the UK since the 1944 Education Act mean changes to the way religion and belief is taught in schools to reflect modern Britain are long overdue, Clarke and his co-author Linda Woodhead, a professor in the department of politics, philosophy and religion at Lancaster University, argue in a pamphlet published on Tuesday.

In the 1940s, Britain was a predominantly Christian country. Now a majority of people say they have no religion, and there are parts of the country where people of other religions form a significant proportion of the population.

A new nationally-determined syllabus called religion, belief and values should replace religious education and be required in all state-funded schools. At the moment, each education authority sets its own RE syllabus.

Faith schools could provide additional teaching if desired. Parents should no longer have the right to withdraw children from the syllabus. “Religion, belief and values should be a proper educational subject like any other,” Clarke told the Guardian.

Daily collective worship of “a broadly Christian character”, which is a legal requirement under the 1944 act, should be replaced with a requirement for all state-funded schools to hold a “regular assembly or act of collective worship in keeping with the values and ethos of the school and reflecting the diversity and character of the school community”, the pamphlet argues.

Frankly I’m surprised it’s taking this long. Starts with the best intentions (the path to hell being paved with them) and always ends in greedy manipulation. The history of fallen man…

This did not start with the best intentions…this was the agenda from the beginning.

Oh I don’t think so. True black hat and cape villains are very rare, most are convinced they are doing right by people. The beginnings of the internet were all about the free flow of ideas and information, sort of a counterculture thing when the information culture was owned by establishment leftists. Then they discovered there was shiploads of money to be had and the rest is obviously what the net has devolved into. The titans of Facebook etc would, if asked, undoubtedly believe they are working to create a better world. The problem is that they’re just as sin tainted as you and I. Thus garbage in garbage out…

Anything which starts with the “best intentions” is like a shiny red apple with a worm in it. Those who bite into the apple bite into a half of the worm.

While I do use YouTube, I have to admit that many social media platforms are indeed primarily geared towards liberal and left-wing audiences, unfortunately.

Youtube and Facebook have axed millions so many videos and accounts the more truth they say the more chances they will get the axe even things that are in the public domain and the public interest alternative views are frowned upon and punished. Just recently Facebook axed 800 well established organic health and alternative health pages and accounts that most had close to or if not more then 1 million subscribers due to the recent Facebook Monsanto merger.

This is what happens when you let leftist kids and untested NERDS run your country. They RUN it to the ground. Greenhorns who never had any life experience. SPOILT BRATS who had life too easy and too fast.

What will bring them around is ONE GOOD SLAP from daddy. It’s life changing…….

Obviously, none of them had one.

So FB lets a person share Breitbart news but it actually stops the friends from getting that shared blog. Same with the Geller news.

While Google, FB, Twitter, YouTube, etc. promote the agenda that truth is evil, and falsehood is good, we are drawing closer to “1984”.
