Maryland gunman who shot five dead in the Capital Gazette newsroom had sued the paper and harassed staff

Will the left elite, members of PEN and hordes of news and political commenters, pundits, etc. blame the journalists at the Maryland’s Capital Gazette for defamation, just as they blamed the journalists at the Charlie Hebdo magazine?
And if not, why not? What’s the difference? Islam? Will they blame the victims here as they blamed me after jihadis attacked my free speech event in Garland, Texas? Again, why not? Why is it always their first priority to make sure no one thinks ill of Islam?

“Pictured: Bitter gunman, 38, who shot five dead in the Capital Gazette newsroom, after he sued the paper and harassed staff over 2011 article that exposed him for Facebook stalking a woman,” by Emily Crane, Hannah Parry, and Ashley Collman, Dailymail.com, June 29, 2018:

The gunman who shot dead five people and injured two others in Maryland’s Capital Gazette newsroom had a long-running grudge against the newspaper after they exposed him for Facebook stalking a woman.

Story continues below advertisement

Jarrod W. Ramos, 38, was armed with a shotgun and smoke grenades when he launched the attack on the journalists in their newsroom in Annapolis on Thursday afternoon.

He was arrested shortly after police stormed the building. Ramos, who lives in Laurel, Maryland, had refused to identify himself to authorities in the aftermath of the shooting.

A law enforcement official said he had to be identified using facial recognition technology after purposely damaging his fingerprints in what investigators believe was an attempt to prevent them from quickly identifying him. Acting police chief William Krampf later denied this.

There is no known motive at this stage but police said it was a ‘targeted attack’ on the Capital Gazette and that he entered the building ‘looking for his victims’.

The five victims were named by police as Wendi Winters, 65, Rebecca Smith, 34, Robert Hiaasen, 59, Gerald Fischman, 61, and John McNamara, 56.

Winters was the special publications editor, McNamara was a writer, Fischman was editorial page editor, Smith was a sales assistant and Hiaasen was an assistant editor and columnist.

Police said the newspaper had received threats on social media prior to the deadly shooting. Investigators said they were trying to determine if the threats were linked to the suspect.

Ramos had unsuccessfully sued the newspaper and one of its former reporters in 2013 for defamation. A Twitter profile under his name includes frequent tweets about the newspaper and its staff.

Ramos was the subject of a 2011 article – titled ‘Jarrod wants to be your friend’ – after he pleaded guilty to criminal harassment. The article described him as having threatened and harassed a former high school classmate on Facebook. He sent the woman numerous emails spanning several months calling her vulgar names and telling her to kill herself.

In the years that followed, Ramos sued the newspaper, the reporter who initially wrote about the case, a judge and the woman who testified against him. His defamation suit was thrown out on appeal in 2015 because Ramos failed to prove that what the newspaper had printed was untrue.

Ramos routinely harassed journalists from the newspaper on Twitter in scores of profanity laced tweets. One of those tweets targeted one of the journalists killed on Thursday, Rob Hiaasen. In another tweet, he discussed how he’d enjoy seeing the paper stop publishing, but ‘it would be nicer’ to see two journalists ‘cease breathing’.

Other tweets from his account referenced previous journalist shootings, including the 2015 terror attack on the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris

The woman who was harassed by Ramos told WBAL TV that she warned an ex-police officer years ago that he would ‘be young next mass shooter’. Adding that he’s a ‘f***ing nut job’, the woman said Ramos because fixated with her for no apparent reason….

He was inspired by Hebdo.

One of the reporters at the paper actually told a superior just before the shooting that he EXPECTED this guy to come gunning for them. I would have gotten a handgun and practiced a little. Could have saved lives. Just sayin…..

He was threatening them with tweets right up till he shot them. his shooting was no surprise to them. NORMAL people would prepare and ARM themselves just in case he did act out. So much for GUN FREE ZONES which should be outlawed.

shame on you. law abiding people don`t own or carry guns. guns are dangerous. it`s all the NRA`s , and right wing extremist`s fault. This poor shooter was probably made fun of in kindergarten, girls probably objected to him trying to peek up their dresses, and caught him in-numerable times, sniffing their bicycle seats. his unwed mother had uncountable ‘daddies’ for him. He likely was born in a pickle barrel in some back alley, where a lactating stray dog nursed him. So sad. Where`s your compassion ? shame, shame

Why was he able to make repeated online threats on Twitter? Wasn’t there supposed to be a “safety council?” Where was SPLC warning about this guy’s hate? The “hate police” are too busy focusing on their political enemies to notice the real threats! How many times must we learn- after the fact- that some bozo freely telegraphed his violent intentions online? These shooters seem to have two patterns: they commit murder only then to realize it wasn’t really as awesome as they thought it would be and either surrender or they then shoot themselves. People (later) say they suspected it would happen and maybe even warn others beforehand. You can’t stop sociopaths but you can identify them by their actions. Sociopaths can’t hide as easily as non sociopaths because (later) someone ALWAYS TENDS to say, “I figured that person was going to snap.” Why can’t we just get them help before they ruin other folks lives and end their own?

Ramos is HISPANIC!
Just like George Zimmerman it’s more convenient to label him WHITE. Remember George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin?

there are Mexicans and other Latin Americans whose ancestors were Spaniards who never mixed with Native (Latin) Americans (o.e. Azteks, Mayas, Incas or whatever ”politically correct” term they want you to use). so this guy (like Zimmerman) can be labelled als “white” although of course there is absolutely no guarantee that (perhaps) one or more ancestors of this Ramos guy committed an “indiscretion…

The race of these individuals however is not the issue here but their actions.

God allows ALL of us to make CHOICES in life.
God is not responsible for CHOICES of people.
He will JUDGE those CHOICES.
Sometimes He intervenes and sometimes He doesn’t.
He surely sees the news media for the DISHONEST people they are. A few less dishonest “journalists” doesn’t spoil my day.

So, some whacked out nut job lefty goes into a newspaper that he’s had an ongoing feud with since 2011 and shoots the place up and somehow it’s Trumps fault. The next shoe to drop is that Ramos is a “white hispanic”. Where did we hear that one before? The unhinged lunatic fringe is going to keep pushing this asinine crap and there will be a civil war… I’m going to enjoy the spectacle.

Naturally this is Trump’s fault even though this freak has been harassing the paper since 2011. Trump wasn’t elected till 2016. Yes the media is VERY DISHONEST in reporting Trump had anything to do with this lunatic. Yes, he is a WHITE “Hispanic” too just like George Zimmerman. LOL!

In a cruel twist of fate, the guy who wrote the article in question doesn’t even work for the paper anymore.

Now you see why I carry a loaded concealed weapon with me everywhere I go, especially to church.

Be safe, be trained, be alert.

It’s a bit disturbing with all the mass shootings going on. Not to mention some of these psychos were already known to victims who told the police but they did nothing. Not even confiscate their guns, which is idiotic.

You have these regular crazies on top of Muslims who are eager to slaughter as many infidels as they can for Allah. Seems we’re headed for a very grim future. As others have suggested the only option is for people to get armed and be ready for these wackjobs to appear and take them out before they get away with killing dozens.
