Mike Pence Lays Down Law to Central Americans: ‘If You Can’t Come Legally, Don’t Come At All’

13

Vice president Mike Pence put out a public statement to Central America that made clear: If you’re not coming to this country legally, don’t bother coming here at all.

Wait for the left to go nuts on this one.

Pence made the remarks while traveling to Brazil. Talk about bold. America, he went on, is a nation of laws.

Breitbart has more:

Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Brazil on Tuesday with a warning message for Central Americans thinking of coming to the United States or sending their children with smugglers: “If you can’t come legally, don’t come at all.”

Pence was in Brazil meeting with President Michel Temer when he made remarks specifically addressed to Central Americans.

“To the people of Central America, I have a message for you, straight from my heart and straight from the heart of the American people,” Pence began, calling them neighbors with hopes that they will “prosper and thrive.”

“Don’t risk you lives or the lives of your children by trying to come to the United States on a road run by drug smugglers and human traffickers,” urged Pence.

“If you can’t come legally, don’t come at all,” he said firmly with a strong warning. “If someone tells you they can bring your child to America, don’t believe them. Hold on to your children.”

The Vice President urged Central Americans to “Build your lives in your homeland and be confident that your neighbors in the United States and across this new world are all working together to ensure a brighter future for all of the nations of this hemisphere.”

“In the first six months of this year nearly 150,000 Guatemalans, Hondurans and Salvadorians abandoned their homes and made the often dangerous journey to the United State in the misguided belief that they could enter our country illegally,” said Pence.

Pence then turned his messages to all nations in the region, “With great respect, just as the United States respects your borders and your sovereignty, we insist that you respect ours.”

The Vice President emphasized that the United States is a nation of laws. He continued, “We also want the people of our Hemisphere to have the chance to build a better life for themselves in the land of their birth, rather than leaving for ours.”

“The United States has invested significant resources to help Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador stop the flow of drugs and cripple the criminal syndicates that plague the region,” he made clear. Pence further pledged to take his message to the leaders of Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador when he meets with them on Thursday in Guatemala City.

I like to think that had I been an adult around 1940, when Roosevelt sent that ship full of Jewish children back to Europe, where all the children were murdered by the Nazis and their henchmen, that I would have broken the law and tried to bring them into the USA, albeit illegally.

Not saying the situations back then and today are comparable, but there are higher loyalties than to the law. And there are people in Central America who face the choice of fleeing, or being murdered.

Yes, a very black mark on this country at that time, however it could have been worse as only 250 out of 900 were killed by the Nazis.

Yet this failure to save Jews is a good thing to remember when you hear all the Israel-bashing from the democrats.

I still think that legal immigration is preferable though. Even Israel would not just allow people from neighboring countries to enter without restrictions.

We shouldn’t allow any illegal or refugee male between the ages of 16 to 60 to stay in this country. Ship them back and let them fight the wrongs in their country of origin, not come here in live of off our hard earned benefits and freedoms. We’ve gotten enough free loaders (liberals) here already.

…and the media and the Democrats will wrongfully play his commentary as racist with all the negative spin they can muster. I hope the citizens of this great country understand that those who besmudge these very reasonable and forthright statements by the present leadership of this country rejects the liberal negative commentary and brings to bear the full weight of their authority by voting into office, come November, others who understand the propriety of Pence’s comments, and that this country finally takes control of its very porous borders. Don’t you wonder why these people are motivated to come here to a land that does not have as its primary language their native tongue, yet they refuse to seek émigré status in those South American and Central American countries that do speak their language. While I recognize that the turmoil in their native countries and lack of economic opportunity is a motivating factor, we simply cannot let them overwhelm us; we simply cannot be responsible for the costs that involves welfare, hospitalization, housing and food assistance that these emigrants require of us. The world has changed and being a good Samaritan is no longer the only answer. I believe that the reality facing us demands that we finally take charge and control of our borders. While I agree that lawful entry into this country requires vetting and compliance with first seeking the lawful documentation required to enter this country, and that should continue to be available to foreigners, we must keep the unlawful out!

Perhaps as part of his tour, he can give a couple of his speeches at the U.S./Mexican border. That way, the traffickers and smugglers will get the message at the same time. You know, so theres no confusion.

Their country doesn’t shower them with U.S. tax dollars, benefits and perks. Their country doesn’t rob the rich and middle class to give to bums, criminals or illegal aliens.
America’s corrupt leaders do.

What ever became of those private citizens who discouraged illegal immigration through the AZ desert by firing live rounds at the foreigners attempting illegal entry in the ’70”s?
