Female TV Presenter Flees Saudi Arabia

16

A female television personality in Saudi Arabia suffered so much backlash for the clothes she wore during her most recent on-the-job news presentation, she was forced to flee the country.

The woman, Shereen Al-Rifaie, had gone on air wearing clothing that, by Western stands, was completely conservative. But by strict sharia standards, she was out of Islam line.

The outfit Ms Al-Rifaie’s wore during the news report was deemed ‘indecent’ by the Saudi General Commission for Audiovisual Media.

Angry callers flooded the station manager, and she was forced off air. The backlash continued, and she was finally compelled to leave the country.

From the Daily Mail:

A Saudi Arabian TV presenter has fled the country after an investigation was launched into claims she had violated the kingdom’s dress code for women.

Shereen Al-Rifaie is accused of recording a segment on women finally being allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia in an outfit deemed ‘indecent’ by the Saudi General Commission for Audiovisual Media.

The presenter wore a white abaya – a traditional Muslim robe-like dress – which opened to reveal white trousers and a top underneath in the TV segment.

Her hair was somewhat covered by a loose white scarf, but her dark locks could be seen by her hairline and flowing down her back.

She was reporting on the lifting of the longstanding ban on women driving in the conservative Muslim kingdom, which took place this month.

In a Twitter post, the Commission said they had launched an investigation after the video clip of Ms Al-Rifaie had been shared on social media.

They said the clip of her news report had shown her ‘wearing indecent clothes, in violation of regulations and instructions.

As the news of the investigation broke, Ms Al-Rifaie posted a photo of a plane ticket and her passport on Snapchat, local news website ajel.sa reports, indicating that she had left the country.

She posted a picture of a plane ticket and her passport on Snapchat after news broke of the investigation.

Saudi Arabia has a legally imposed dress code, and all women, foreign and local, are required wear an abaya in public.

Muslim women must also wear a headscarf – or hijab – to cover their hair, but foreigners are not legally required to do so.

While it is not ordered by the state, many Saudi women also choose to cover their face with a burqa or niqab.

The hadiths, the descriptions of the life of Muhammad, the ideal human being whose example all the Islamic faithful must follow, confirm that women are inferior beings like dogs and donkeys, and that there is nothing wrong with sexual slavery and raping female prisoners.

Agree. UK police is giving tough competition to saudi sharia police !

Sharia Police in Uk are not willing to protect those who speak truth about islam https://tinyurl.com/ya6j3phj

Instead go after those who expose the jihadi crimes and oppose their Left/Liberal supporters !

Indeed, women were treated like trash both before and after Muhammad in Arabia.

As the crown prince noted, it seems strange that no one remembers that the ban on driving, unaccompanied women, the dress code etc. only went into effect in 1979. Prior to that women could not only drive, work, etc, but the extremely conservative black hajib was confined to two relatively small tribes/sects. Traditional tribal wear was often colorful, if conservative and designed to protect from the elements, and hair sometimes covered, sometimes not depending on tribal custom or even the weather.

Well, at least she was able to drive herself out of the country. Perhaps she’ll land in Hollywood, where she’ll do the talk show circuit for a while, have a movie made about her, then retire to Malibu, where she can open up a hookah lounge.

Soddy Barbaria has really long arms and influence. I believe a princess of the royal family who dared marry someone of her own free will was tracked down in a foreign country, hauled back to Soddy Barbaria and beheaded in Riyadh.

It seems that Saudi Arabia today is sadly not that much different than ancient Arabia…

Dictatorships almost always regulate every aspect of your life, right down to the clothes you are allowed to wear, what religion, or lack thereof, you will adhere to, and what you may or may not put into your body. The USA used to be free, but it is not anymore, in that the government regulates, taxes, legislates and monitors nearly everything on everybody. They’ve even gone so far as to regulate how much water and electricity you may use and how to use it. Oh, and don’t DARE store rain water – it belongs to the government!

I’m with you. I lived in California three times, all due to military moves. I’m glad I don’t live there now. The last time I was there (1975), it was obvious to me that the state was headed for the rocks.

Yup. Just about the time landlords were mandated to rent to anyone who came to the door, and evicting lowlife, non-paying tenants became a massive exercise in patience and self-defense.

I know a landlord in Massachusetts who would be jumping up and down agreeing with you right now. Rental property regulations are a pain for many landlords because they have to follow the laws written by idiots who have no idea of the work that goes into getting property ready for the next tenant. And getting evictions, he says, is a headache and a half.
