RNC Chair: We Want Assurances From Facebook, Twitter That They Won’t Suppress Conservatives

45

The chair of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, took to Fox News to explain that conservatives aren’t content any longer to sit back and take the censorship of political thought and speech from the likes of Facebook and Twitter.

Rather, she said, they’re fighting back.

And step one in the fight was to send a strongly worded letter to social media executives asking them to explain the censorship, and vow to discontinue it.

From Breitbart:

[O]n Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the RNC and the Trump 2020 campaign sent letters to Facebook and Twitter requesting answers about concerns that conservative content is being blocked.

McDaniel said, “We’ve seen in the history of Facebook there have been instances where they have changed the trending topics. They’ve suppressed conservative viewpoints, we’ve recently seen with Diamond and Silk that they suspended their account.”

She continued, “We just preemptively wanted to go to Facebook and say we want assurances that you won’t suppress conservative voices, that the Silicon Valley thought police is not going to determine what voices filter through on their social media platform.’ We sent a letter to Facebook and Twitter. We’ve asked them to respond by June 18th and we’re hoping we can get that to our audience, our GOP membership who cares very deeply about this country, who want to see a fair treatment on these social media platforms. They use them heavily and we have a very important mid-term coming up and I think it’s an important time to have this conversation.”

Ronna McDaniel can say anything she wants. Where’s her proof? What she proffers isn’t scientifically acceptable as proof, and as such, I would scoff at her and blow off the letter. What may look like differential treatment may not be because law enforcement is sometimes involved calling the shots.

Where’s your poof? (I’m mocking you.)

More to the point, on what basis do you require “scientifically acceptable….proof,” in this context? I don’t think you know the proper context for specific types of evidence. There are mathematical proofs where one finds the most strict standards of demonstration–step-by-step proofs. This is the highest form of what can be called, “evidence.”

There is “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard of evidence applicable to court proceedings: Scientific evidence, satisfied by that field’s method–the “scientific method–can be part of courtroom evidence.

Do you have any questions?

I am willing to bet, as a conservative, that I could take apart the Facebook policy handbook and find many instances of language choices the favor the left. How a sentence is structured and how it is placed in a context is relevant to any bias.

Yes. They can. But, to be fair, when one is locked away in a mental institution 24/7, their news of the world is, well, as unbalanced as they are. She hasn’t been receiving weekend visits like she used to, so she’s a little frustrated.

What I meant by the question is whether “Soltan Gris” actually deserved the punishment. There are occasions when people behave badly by our standards as well as the corporate standards.

You can’t use a substitute letter to get around the expletive restriction. I’ve reported many a post like that. As for why THEY didn’t get banned, no one reported them.

no, that’s crap, “i” report them back. every time the use the ‘real’ f-word. i also post links to the comment thread in closed groups to ‘ban-raid’ back on them, as they ban raid on us. and i’ve been substituting @ for ‘a’ and such for years, those have ‘never’ gotten you banned until quite recently. ^^

It is virtually impossible to get fair treatment. The culture of San Francisco and much of Southern California has been extreme leftist for decades. Putting a leftist in charge of fairness to those on the right is silly. By the way, try getting hired as a conservative not only in Silicon Valley but most of academe.

The only way to obtain assurances is for all conservatives to drop these companies who think they are in charge of our thoughts and ideas and speech. Then they will know how many we are who value our God-given rights!

Part of the problem with that strategy is that it is difficult to keep up with who owns what company.
These leftist philosophy enterprises form interlocking directorates of subsidiaries, fronts, and shadow corporations that are nigh impossible to keep track of for anyone who isn’t a tech maven.
Personal example: I don’t use farcebook, have never used farcebok, and will never willingly provide any information to farcebook. But because of third party usage they have a hole that is gradually being sketched in from information provided without my knowledge or consent from businesses and friends/family who do have a relationship with farcebook. All done without my consent and despite my taking active measures to thwart their obtaining this information. Even ~this~ site is providing a certain amount of information to farcebook.

I was going to have said to Ms. McDaniel: Good luck with your push. Maybe when pigs learn to fly (no, and I don’t mean buying airline tickets and traveling on a plane). Sounds eerily similar to the “assurances” Neville Chamberlain sought from Hitler over the latter’s intentions towards the Sudetenland in 1938.

The RNC is being very deceptive as usual. I am under the impression that their plan is to exempt the social media deep state giants from being controlled by any laws mandated by Congress to force them to fair. That is why they are writing letters “asking” for explanations of this and that. As usual, they want to avoid doing the jobs for which they were elected. The Constitution is a big joke for almost all of the Republican side of the aisle, but on a lesser scale than the Democrats. Two wings of a filthy bird.

The Constitution is a gentleman’s agreement and gentlemen are an endangered species. If it were actual law punishment for violating it would be codified within it…

I understand from whence you come, but do believe those who take an oath to defend the Constitution, and do not, should be removed from their office by the people. We, the people, were supposed to be self governing. That requires a wise and discerning population which requires Bible education as a springboard for all education. We were given an opportunity to be a blessed or cursed nation accordingly. Our politicians are a reflection of a culture that left God’s protection. I am a sinner who was fortunate to find the Savior, and have no righteousness in myself.

There is not a day that goes by that we experience those on the right being cut off. No matter what Facebook or Skype tell you they are actively stopping commentary from the right, The Republicans in power must go after these people hard.
