Incredible. @TheAtlantic continues its rapid descent into irrelevance.
In its attack on the French manifesto calling for deletion of Koran verses calling for “murder of Jews, Christians and disbelievers,” The Atlantic takes the side of outraged Muslim leaders. The Atlantic sounds more like ISIS than an American magazine covering news and analysis on politics, business, culture. This is America after 9/11? We are doomed if the left continues to chokehold on American cultural and political discourse.
Incredible. The Atlantic viciously attacks my colleagues and me with lies, smear and defamation all in the cause of Islamic jihad. This piece lays bare their perfidy and betrayal of freedom, equality and Western values.
Has anyone over at The Atlantic read “The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism: From Sacred Texts to Solemn History”? Or the Quran?
Has anyone over at The Atlantic ever questioned why Muslims chant “Khaybar Khaybar ya yahud, Jaish …..” at every anti-Israel protest from Manhattan to Moscow? Do they even know what happened at Khaybar?
These people are supremely dangerous. They norm the incitement to genocide which precedes every genocide.
Muslims Recoil at a French Proposal to Change the Quran
Some of France’s most prominent figures, concerned about anti-Semitism, have signed a shocking manifesto aimed at curbing it.
By Karina Kiser, The Atlantic, May 4, 2018:
Although it’s not entirely clear whether “struck to obsolescence” means wholesale deletion of verses, the manifesto was perceived as a call to abrogate Muslims’ holiest text. And although pushing for a theological reform of Islam in France is nothing new—everyone from leading imams to President Emmanuel Macron have made plans to restructure Islam—demanding that scriptural verses be deleted is another thing altogether. In Islam, the Quran is considered divinely revealed; because it’s deemed to be the word of God, altering or deleting any part of the text would be blasphemous. The manifesto came a month after the grisly murder of Mireille Knoll, an octogenarian Holocaust survivor who was stabbed to death in her apartment in an act authorities are calling an anti-Semitic crime. Last year, Sarah Halimi, a 67-year-old, was beaten to death and thrown out of her window, in the same area where Knoll lived. Her attacker yelled “Allahu Akbar!” as he committed the act; Knoll’s reportedly did the same. It took judicial authorities nearly a year to label Halimi’s death an anti-Semitic crime.
The authorities are calling it antisemitic? Mireille K, an 85-year-old Jewish Holocaust survivor was raped, repeatedly stabbed and burned to death by her Muslim neighbor. He had repeatedly threatened to burn her, murder her, and he taunted her with antisemitic slurs like “dirty Jew” and “Allahu Akbar.”
Mirelle was raped, stabbed, burned by her Muslim neighbor. The Atlantic makes no mention of this.
France is home to the largest Jewish community in Europe. Since the early 2000s, French Jews have seen a rise in anti-Semitic acts, and although 2017 saw fewer overall incidents than 2016, those that did occur were more violent in nature. This wave of violence is part of what the manifesto’s signatories call a “new anti-Semitism”—new in that it is perpetrated not by the far right, but by French Muslims. The manifesto denounced what it characterized as the government and media’s refusals to recognize this “Muslim anti-Semitism.” It also labeled as “low-volume ethnic cleansing” the trends that have forced Jewish families to change neighborhoods, leaving suburbs, or banlieues, that are home to significant immigrant populations, and to pull their children from public schools. The manifesto generated an immediate outcry among Muslims in France and beyond, with critics labeling its usage of the phrase “low-volume ethnic cleansing” hyperbolic and accusing it of homogenizing all Muslims. Days after the manifesto’s release, 30 imams signed a counter-letter in Le Monde. The Observatory for Islamophobia, an organization affiliated with the Egyptian government, described the manifesto as “hateful racism” that proves that “France is not a land that welcomes Islam.” The proposal to abrogate certain verses of the Quran was most controversial of all. Tareq Oubrou, the prominent French imam who oversees the Grand Mosque of Bordeaux, called the characterization of the Quran “nearly blasphemous.” Viewing the scripture as anti-Semitic, he told me, is the falsified interpretation promoted by the very radicals France seeks to combat: “ignorant Muslims who remove texts from their historical context.” Furthermore, the notion that anti-Semitism is built into Islam is “theologically false,” he added. As monotheistic “People of the Book,” Jews and Christians enjoy a special status in Islamic law. Historically, they were considered protected dhimmi communities, which meant they were allowed to practice their own religions, although they were subject to a tax and various indignities that symbolized their subordination to Muslims.
Rather than calling for absolute violence, Oubrou said the Quran advocates for a “defensive combat, against aggressors, within a historical context.”
For instance, one verse says, “Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture—[fight] until they give the jizya [tax] willingly while they are humbled.” The Quran, like many scriptures, is internally inconsistent on this and other matters. Oubrou argued that the problem is not religion itself—it’s that through radical, literalist interpretations of the Quran, “delinquents use the religion as a veneer for cheap crimes.” By demonizing the Quran as a text that contains anti-Semitism, he said, the manifesto casts a shadow on an entire religion, glossing over the role of interpretation and the other factors driving some young Muslims to develop hatred toward Jews.
That response didn’t sit well with the manifesto’s defenders. “The problem is that Islamists refer to the same texts as ordinary Muslims,” said signatory Pierre-André Taguieff, a research director at the French National Centre for Scientific Research who has published extensively on anti-Semitism. Samy Ghozlan, a signatory who formerly served as police commissioner in the Paris banlieues and who founded a hotline for anti-Semitism, defended the manifesto’s willingness to “name the problem,” and its call for theological reform. “In Islam,” he said, “believers are instructed to respect the Quran—there’s no room for commentary.”
That’s not how many imams see it. “The text might be the same, but the way it’s understood varies, as is the case for any text,” Abdallah Dlioueh, the imam of Valence, told me. “The Quran doesn’t tell anyone to be racist or anti-Semitic—in fact it expresses deep respect for Jewish figures such as Moses. But a minority of Muslims fall into a misreading,” he went on. “By promoting one vision of those verses, the manifesto makes the same error as terrorists.”Oubrou and Dlioueh were among 30 imams who signed a letter in Le Monde voicing indignation with “the confiscation of [their] religion by criminals,” a reference to those who preach violence, from certain Salafi imams to online recruiters associated with groups like the Islamic State. The authors expressed the consternation they feel—as both French citizens and Muslims—as they watch “Islam fall into the hands of an ignorant, disturbed, and idle youth” who have become “easy prey for ideologues” preaching hatred and inspiring anti-Semitic violence. Although the letter was published amid a heated debate over anti-Semitism, the conversation about Islam’s theological role in driving terrorism isn’t new. As France has struggled to grapple with terrorist attacks—often at the hands of nationals—scholars have clashed over what exactly prompted young men to kill concertgoers at Paris’s Bataclan theatre in November 2015 or drive a truck into a packed promenade in Nice the following July. Are jihadis devout Muslims who see violence as a religious obligation, or are they rebels—petty criminals and dropouts dismayed by their socioeconomic hardships—in search of a cause? The answer is likely some combination of both; jihadist terrorism neither has nothing to do with Islam—as some have said following attacks while urging against scapegoating of Muslims—nor is it an exclusively religious phenomenon. This debate aside, the Le Monde letter was a recognition that, despite the nonreligious factors driving violence in the name of Islam, religious authorities have a role to play in fighting it.But that needn’t mean abrogating certain verses of the Quran. Some Muslim scholars encourage believers to approach the Quran through a critical lens, putting it in historical context and recognizing its limitations. “A lack of human intelligence is blocking Islam today,” Razika Adnani, a scholar of Islam and member of the Foundation for Islam of France, told me. “Conservatives promote an idea that everything is in the texts, blocking human thought,” she added, and urged Muslims to “work to make Islam a religion of today.” Dlioueh stressed the importance of an “enlightened Islam”—and he considers it his daily job to foster that. “Imams are a shield against radicalization,” he said, and “we’re already working to that end—to promote tolerance, on the ground in rough neighborhoods, in our Friday sermons.” Rather than deeming certain verses dangerous, he said, Muslims should consider the entire text open to interpretation, and look to history as a reference for peaceful coexistence among Jews and Muslims (for example, in the Ottoman Empire).Oubrou promotes what he terms a “preventive theology” that takes into account why so many young people are vulnerable to what he calls “erroneous interpretations of the Quran.” He acknowledges that any religious text can be used to justify violence; the goal is to recognize the source of that manipulation, and why it becomes so compelling.Yet even if imams successfully promote a critical, contextualized reading of the Quran, the ability to fight anti-Semitism purely on the basis of religion is limited. Although many of the recent perpetrators of violence against French Jews have been Muslim, it would be overly simplistic to chalk the phenomenon up to religion alone. The gang leader who kidnapped 23-year-old Ilan Halimi in 2006, and held him hostage for two weeks, said he did it because “Jews have money,” drawing on the anti-Semitic tropes that have long plagued Jews. Those stereotypes are alive and well in France today: Survey data from 2016 reveal that 35 percent of French people believe Jews “have a particular rapport with money;” 40 percent think that “for French Jews, Israel counts more than France;” and 22 percent think that “Jews have too much power.”The Quran, Oubrou said, can become a “pretext” to legitimize deeper feelings of disdain for Jews, which themselves can be fueled by a host of external factors—including social exclusion, a sense of being dominated, conspiracy theories, and a misinterpretation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The last one, he said, “has been transformed into a religious cause by both sides,” enabling it to be grafted onto the way Muslims and Jews see each other in France.

Instead of deleting passages in the quran, islam and the quran in its entirety should be permanently deleted from mankind.
Now, if the insane believers of this twisted cult want to follow….
There can be no such thing as a ‘moderate’ muslim. Anyone who professes to be muslim confirms their belief in the koran as the word of allah interpreted by the brutal, merciless, 7th century pedophile mohammed (who declared himself a prophet). There are only muslims maintaining low profiles until there are sufficient numbers in a given locale to violently demand their so-called ‘religious rights.’ The harsh, inhuman sharia law they are sworn to – is NOT compatible with the tolerant and compassionate philosophical nature of modern man, let alone the United States Constitution and our Bill of Rights as intended by our Founding Fathers.
Primitive muslims have been inbreeding 1400 years, and are bound by ignorance, intolerance, the threat of death to remain so, and their moon-god rule book to convert the world back into the stone age mercilessly by the sword if necessary. Pity the unfortunate females and children enslaved, mutilated, and often mercilessly killed in that degenerate, irrationally macho oppression.
Europe’s understandable rejection of nationalism since the intolerance of Nazi nightmare – has left them vulnerable to attack by the onslaught of middle-eastern cavemen. Only Poland seems to have learned anything about tyranny in the streets. The longer contemporary man cowers to socially-retarded, inbred, stone-age misogynists and pedophiles to avoid violence, the more gruesome the ultimate conflagration will be. Hyenas cannot assimilate with house pets.
“Show me just what muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.” ~ Manuel II Palaiologos – 14th century Byzantine emperor
“Islam was not a torch, as has been claimed, but an extinguisher. Conceived in a barbarous brain for the use of a barbarous people, it was – and it remains – incapable of adapting itself to civilization. Wherever it has dominated, it has broken the impulse towards progress and checked the evolution of society.” ~ André Servier
“Islam is as dangerous in a man as rabies in a dog.” ~ Sir Winston Churchill
And the strange part is it has been allowed to continue to operate and go its merry way for 14OO years , and no one so far has had what it takes to rid the world of this scourge upon the earth , and now it is right here in the good old USA doing its thing !
BK, The crusaders culled the muzzie herd significantly in the middle ages. It has taken until recently for the primitives to regenerate enough population to once again bring widespread misery to contemporary mankind.
– “The precept of the koran is perpetual war against all who deny that mohammed is the prophet of God.” “In the 7th century of the Christian era, a wandering arab spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. He declared undistinguishing and exterminating war as part of his religion.” ~ John Quincy Adams
– “Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.” ~ Manuel II Palaiologos – 14th century Byzantine emperor

Well the time is long overdue to putting and end to this insanity once and for ever .
Agreed. I’m curious how many would have to be irradicated at one time before what’s left of ’em could be civilized. Hyenas cannot assimilate with house pets.
Correct therefore there will no need for assimilation at that point .
Reforming islum is nothing but a red herring any muslums calling for it are nothing but experts at spewing taqiyya. Christianity could be reformed because it was fundamentally pacifist — as evidenced by the words and deeds of Yeshua, the Jewish carpenter and street preacher.
“Christianity could be reformed because it was fundamentally pacifist…”
We are allowed SELF DEFENSE. We are not supposed to provoke others into violence. Wars are okay too under certain circumstances. Don’t let others fool you into believing Christians are hopeless pacifist imbeciles. Also God commanded the Jews at times to be VIOLENT and murder others that He gave up on.
God ordered Joshua and his people to kill every man, woman and child in Canaan? Joshua 10:40-43.
Joshua killed every man, woman and child. The wages of sin is death. God had enough of them and had Joshua handle it.
[40] So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.
[41] And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.
[42] And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.
[43] And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
God deemed them wicked and had Joshua handle it by killing them.
Here’s another example where pacifism is not allowed.
God told Moses that the nations that the Hebrew were replacing were wicked.
Deuteronomy 9:5
“It is not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart that you are going to possess their land, but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD your God is driving them out before you, in order to confirm the oath which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
God ordered the Hebrews to kill them all!
God had enough of their “wickedness”.These were not innocent people – men, women and children.
Deutoronomy 12:31
[31] Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
There are other examples too!
The Old Testament isn’t obsolete! Christians are not under the law. Christians are under grace. God’s nature through Christ, has not changed. Take a look at the punishments that ISLAM tries to copy from the Old Testament. Hell is not going to be a picnic!
Luke 22 clarifies how self defense is proper. Recall how one sliced off the ear of a guard coming to take Him and the response by Christ.
Luke 22:38,48-51
[38] And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
[48] But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
[49] When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
[50] And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
[51] And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
Also note the Old Testament acknowledges there is a time for peace, war, hate etc.. God understands us better then we know ourselves. God USES wars to punish and reward. There is no room for pacifism.
Look at Ecclesiastes. There is time for hate, love, peace, war etc. Human nature has NOT changed.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 – 8
[1] To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
[2] A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
[3] A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
[4] A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
[5] A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
[6] A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
[7] A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
[8] A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
A serious problem in today’s church. No exercise of wisdom or discernment only a foolish adherence to a misguided sense of ” Love thy neighbour “, or that ” God is in control and we don’t have to do anything “. At times God is in full control mode, it’s called judgement, because His people were too stupid to do what was right beforehand. If what we are seeing today isn’t God’s hand having been pulled back because the West collectively turned its back on Him decades ago, and He has had enough, then I’ll go back to my corner and shut up.
If it is His judgement, we are in for it, because He isn’t fooled by ” Bart Simpson ” apologies and His cup of indignation doesn’t fill up puppy dog tails and candy. In other words, He’s real angry that we have let things deteriorate as they have and that we ignored all calls to stay on track. Is human nature any different from thousands of years of learning and development, lol.
Jesus’s name is more accurately translated as Joshua.
The Atlantic is another leftist progressive rag that touts its Marxist, pro-Jihad doctrine. A format of faux-intellectual content whose its purpose is to serve the leftist intelligentsia. Those of the right, in the Atlantic’s elitist mindset, are base dullards, too unsophisticated and unintelligent to grasp the depths of its fakery. Only leftist weenies of the elitist and privileged bent are imbecilic enough to swallow the shallow swill throughout its pages. Not unlike all the Liberal MSM whether print or electronic it propagates anti-American, anti-Democratic vitriol while bowing to the toxic tenets of Islamism and Marxism.
I think the Atlantic is the publication William F. Buckley used to write for.
I don’t believe so, I may be wrong. He wrote for the National Review and other Conservative publications. Atlantic Monthly did articles on Buckley. I cannot definitely say he didn’t but would wager he didn’t. He may have contributed an article but that in itself runs against the grain of the Atlantic Monthly’s journalistic bent.

You might be right. He wasn’t quite the “conservative” he pretended to be. He wanted prostitution and illegal drugs LEGALIZED. At best he was a fiscal conservative with a great vocabulary and a social liberal.
He wanted prostitution and illegal drugs LEGALIZED. At best he was a fiscal conservative with a great vocabulary and a social liberal.
A patently inane rendition of the estimable WFB and what “conservatism” means. Not surprising, coming from a goon whose habit is to make grand pronouncements about matters of which he knows nothing.
WFB certainly did not want prostitution in society- I am confident he considered it a personal and spiritual failing of humanity, most particularly for prostitutes. Whether or not it should be criminalized is entirely another question. He would have wanted individuals to have the freedom to choose their own lifestyles so long as they did not transgress on a neighbor’s rights.
I also do not recall he ever called for the legalization of all drugs, although perhaps he did for some, notably marijuana (he certainly wanted patients to have the right to use it medicinally). Conservatives value individual liberty and seek to minimize the role of government in human affairs. They also uphold individual responsibilty for one’s own actions. Readers may want to consider that the draconian federal laws in the USA about marijuana were introduced during the reign of FDR, a “liberal”.
I write not to enlighten your reptilian brain, but I hate to think that anyone would be taken in by your pathetically banal misrepresentation of a great American conservative and the movement he so shaped.
Amen.
I think the Atlantic is the publication William F. Buckley used to write for.
I doubt that WFB wrote at all for the The Atlantic, but I cannot rule out the possibility that he contributed a handful of articles over his decades as a journalist. An ignorant goon like yourself probably confuses The Atlantic with Buckley’s own National Review, which he founded and edited for many years.
Oh well, lack of any knowledge poses no barrier to what goons “think”.
I can only imagine what you and your fellow “decent”, “moderate”, “honorable” muslums have in store for me and my fellow goons once you gain power. Gulags? Executions?
Oops but you’re wrong supercilious twit:
“Buckley has also

Do you like your crow w/salt & peppa?
You can hardly expect any rational sanity from any leftist source while islamic ones are very happy to loudly proclaim their aims and still the left refuse to listen. The bubble of idealistic non reality that surrounds a leftist must be incredibly thick to deny what is obvious. The irony here is that most leftists actually think that they are superior because they ‘think” not realizing the actual difference between idealism and harsh reality. Even before WW2 so many “intellectual” traitors were still unable to differentiate between the ideals of socialism and the actualities of it. Apparently the Cambridge five found the soviet reality hard to handle and even more difficult to fit into their own concepts. I wonder why?
This should get more interesting as ISLAM IS EXPOSED!
“This piece lays bare their perfidy and betrayal of freedom, equality and Western values.”
After reading this article, I have concluded that those of us who appreciate common sense and are right thinking would recognize that the claim that this book (Koran) was written by some God is frivolous and totally without merit. This book is a creation of “man,” not any deity. Its contents are consistent with the way “men” operate and think and write. It should be obvious to any reader of the book. The passions outlined in their book is consistent with the conduct of “man.” Reasonable people could not believe that any deity would ever consider any direction that would involve killing non-believers, Jews or Christians. That kind of direction is the creation of scribes (men) whose hatred of others is in the language they created to promote their religion and keep themselves in power. Therefore, I find those who make the claim that their book is the hand of some God is total rubbish. While I support the concept of religious morality, I give no credence to the statements that any God worth praying to would ever direct the kind of violence that the Islamic belief system outlines in its books. Nonsense! Since we can never expect the Islamic world to reject the immorality and violence written within their books, we need to recognize our need to protect us from these believers, before they overwhelm us with their sardonic belief system and cause even more death and destruction.
All “holy” books were written by men, Dennis. Hadn’t you noticed?
On the surface this seems like a complicated issue, but I don’t think it really is all that complicated. I agree with you completely that as islam stands today, with all of its books and their verses preaching hate towards non-believers, it represents a very real danger to free societies and that we need to quickly recognize this threat. It is a darkness with no hope of light.
Some have argued that the God of the Old Testament was pretty rough and unforgiving. He brought the Flood which wiped out just about everything, He commanded the Hebrews in some attacks to kill all and was quite harsh on His own people when they fell out of line. I’ve heard muslims compare muhammad’s tactics to this and claim that it was all necessary to establish their religion’s base. The comparative argument, on just this basis alone, isn’t all that out of line. But, the Old Testament isn’t what we adhere to today, and it has many verses referencing the One to come and indeed He did come, which is why the New Testament has prominence. None of their books has any reference to something more to come, nor do they permit any discussion about revising their scriptures – to do so is blasphemous and can get one killed. It is essentially ” what you see is what you get ” – no hope in any of their books and death if you dare challenge any of it, and eventually death to those who refuse to convert.
If there was any path to something more moderate within islam, it would be worth consideration based on humanitarian ideology alone, but it is not there and it cannot ever be there. New Testament vs their books, Jesus vs Muhammad, God’s love vs Allah’s hate – which is the religion of peace. Not complicated at all.
While i appreciate your responsive commentary, the one major factor that distinguishes the Jews, who follow the Old Testament, as do the Christians, is that except for defending themselves from those who would take their lives, their belief system does not give any justification for the kind of violent conduct against non-believers that Islam mandates from its followers. That is a major and dangerous difference between the two belief systems. Furthermore, it is my understanding that Jewish law has evolved into a form of justice that provides for equal protection and due process, concepts that are today still foreign to the Sharia system that is followed by the world of Islam. Though I cannot make any claim of the conduct of the Deity that involves the Jewish belief system, I do know that those of the Jewish faith are, and have never been preached to or promoted to justify affirmative violent conduct against others. History makes clear that to the extent Jews have been violent, it has been to defend themselves.
No disagreement that Judaism has evolved into the very civilized belief system it was always destined to be, nor that islam is the very antithesis of true justice. However, though I’m not claiming any kind of scholarly status on the particular subject of Hebrew conquest in Old Testament times, the wars wage by Joshua against the peoples of Jordan seem to not be defensive but rather a fulfillment of Gods promise to the Hebrews to deliver that land to them. The various peoples living in Jordan at that time were described as being wicked and although some peace deals were worked out with a few, many of these wars involved all things breathing being killed, young and old, women – all were killed according to God’s command. It is true that some of these tribes, after hearing of other battles, mounted counter offensives, and in a backwards way, the campaign became as defensive as it was offensive for the Hebrews. The Book of Joshua gives the account of these battles and if I have missed something I would be happy to have it pointed out to me.
However, my intent with this is only to draw attention to some of the talking points brought up by muslims and atheists alike. In as many ways as we can, we ought to be able to give an answer to questions or criticisms of Judeo/Christian values and principles – as steel sharpens steel, be well.
Since we can never expect the Islamic world to reject the immorality and violence written within their books
Dennis-
An insightful, well written comment overall, but I don’t know that you are right about that. A religion is what it’s practionners say it is, and the human capacity to rationalize is boundless. Short of an outright repudiation of portions of the Koran (which in its present for is only a little over 100 years old), I think the Moslem world could reinterpret much of it. I recall Rena Khalili, an Iranian who worked for the CIA for many years, claiming in his book A Time to Betray how when he was growing up, he interpreted the violent passages of the book in a figurative manner. Don’t ask me how that works exactly, but my point is different people, coming from very different places, can understand the same document in strikingly different ways.
Nobody today knows what the world of Islam will be in 200 years. The challenge is to convince Moslems that they need to reinterpret their canon. I have no idea how to do that, but it would not surprise me if it required making it clear to them that doing so was in their own best interests.
A challenge indeed. Unfortunately, though the Islamic world has had every opportunity to take back their belief system from the so-called radicals who use that belief system to justify violence and promote anti-Semitism and hate of all non-believers, the world of Islam has shown no effort to do so. Therefore, any hope for the kind of change that you would like to see occur is unlikely at best. Too bad! Peace should be the basis of any religion, but Islam just seems unable to embrace it.
Excellent rendition of the completely obvious to any normal thinking mind , and should go without saying , to those to dim witted to see what is right under their nose they are lost
How Children learn to be Muslims. Good for adult learning, as many are the level of most children when it comes to Islam. (Please share)
There are many levels of hell, islam is in the lowest.
Stuff your lies and propaganda. Islam isn’t a valid religion. It’s based on a book of lies. There is no allah and Mohammed was a psychotic paedophile pervert.
Actually, considering that it’s a moon god, and the moon has no light of its own, I would consider that the Islamic god is a fallen angel, and you know who that is – Satan.
….the Quran is considered divinely revealed; because it’s deemed to be the word of God, altering or deleting any part of the text would be blasphemous.
Well, just tell them Allah told you this. Isn’t that how this book got started?
After all. That was “Mo’s” M.O.!
Yep, he didn’t like swine, but what’s his name? Mo’ HAM-ed
Yup because modification of the Koran will tame Muslims. It’s not like they could smuggle in unabridged ones or anything. Maybe the French can mandate the all Muslims forget the forbidden verses they’ve memorized too.
Really France, are you that stupid? Don’t answer I know already…
What you say is of course true. But more than anything else, this reaction by Muslim leaders exposes just how relevant those verses are today to current teachings of Islam.
Let France be that STUPID!
Let the boy toy of France learn the hard way.
“In Islam, the Quran is considered divinely revealed…” Yet few even inquire as to the true origin of that ‘revelation!’
What, exactly, is the origin of the idea of Islam? How many Muslims are willing to openly discuss that?
Would the One True God (who is revealed in Scripture) call for the sweeping and universal killing of Christians and Jews?
Whoa, isn’t this the perfect opportunity to bring the world’s attention to the fact that Islam is NOT a religion of peace? Ther Koran encourages violence against anyone who their “prophet” Mohommet says is an infidel.
BAN THE kooran BAN the burka BAN building ANY moosque( hate centers )!!
Koran = Fahrenheit 666
I am convinced Islam is the organized religion of Satan.
Satan LOVES “religion” and for those that go to church, he loves going there too especially if it is BIBLE based.
Fallen churches don’t interest him.
I posted and, then, just read yours. Our thoughts ran concurrently. Surprise but no surprise.
The most sinister thing Satan ever did was change his name to allah.
As long as we allow Islam to be categorized as a “Religion” and afford Muslims their First Amendment Rights to practice their religion, then that gives them justification to act upon the marching orders of Muhammad – because they are following what Muhammad their religious leader (prophet of Islam) commands of them. In other words Muslims will be practicing their religion based upon what is taught in their “holy book” the Qur’an and in the Ahadith (sayings of Muhammad).
If we do not re-classify Islam as a Totalitarian Enemy Threat Doctrine and continue to allow Islam to
maintain the protected status as a “religion,” then America is truly doomed.
For example: The Muslim Brotherhood is strictly following what their “holy book” teaches and they are the enforcers of this belief over the more “moderate” Muslims who have reservations about such teachings.
See Pentagon Briefing: Article from 2006
[ Suicide bombers follow Quran concludes Pentagon briefing ]
“Tasked with pinpointing motivation, analysts find terrorists ‘rational actors’ following ‘holy book’ …Addressing a youth session at the 1999 Islamic Association for Palestine’s annual convention in Chicago, CAIR founder Omar Ahmad praised suicide bombers who “kill themselves for Islam,” according to a transcript provided by terror expert Steve Emerson’s Investigative Project.”
“Fighting for freedom, fighting for Islam, that is not suicide,” Ahmad asserted. “They kill themselves for Islam.” Source: http://www.wnd.com/2006/09/38120/
It is hardly shocking. Out of all the religions, Islam is one that has largely failed to reform and adapt to the modern day and age.
I am heartily sick of the taqiyya from the Imans.. Their calls to defend the quran…They know it is totally against Western values, but they want their world wide caliphate…Blow up every mosque in Europe, Burn every quran. and send the buggers packing to the islamic paradises they came from
Islam is the foundation of a murderous cult , and should not be allowed to befoul civilisation anywhere .
Validate your 2nd Amendment Rights… Carry !
When muslims are in the minority, they demand their rights. When the muslims are in the majority, there are NO rights.
In the wake of President Trump’s courageous recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, “Palestinian” protesters in New York City, London, and Berlin have chanted “Khaybar, Khaybar, ya yahud, jaish Muhammad saufa ya’ud” – “Khaybar, Khaybar, O Jews, the army of Muhammad will return.”
Since they chant it in Arabic, authorities no doubt have no idea what they’re saying, and even if they did, they probably wouldn’t understand the meaning of the chant. But that meaning is quite ominous. This is a call for genocide of the Jews.
What happens in the Atlantic is a total travesty of education
Education supposedly gives a human the knowledge to discern the right from wrong
In the case of the Atlantic whoever had taught them must have done a really horrible, horrible job, for their education only brought them closer and closer to evil and falsehood
may be the Atlantic has a mosque in it
“The Observatory for Islamophobia, an organization affiliated with the Egyptian government, described the manifesto as “hateful racism”. Is islam a race? This a news to me.
“In its attack on the French manifesto calling for deletion of Koran verses calling for “murder of Jews, Christians and disbelievers,” The Atlantic takes the side of outraged Muslim leaders.”
-Some of the same outraged Muslim leaders, who on odd days of the week bloviate out of the other side of their mouths that *islam is a religion of peace*??????
If you read the verse where this is stated in the Quran it’s true!…..but keep reading. Right after that it says essentially – “(sic) to ONLY like minded believers”….And now you know……the rest of the story.
And only a hundred more verses of the same nature to go.
I find it rather entertaining that France might want to ban koranic ‘assault verses’. Let’s keep tabs on close statistics as this unfolds.
The call for deletion of Koran verses calling for ‘murder of Jews, Christians and disbelievers’ would mean there is virtually nothing left.
I do remember they were trying to change the bible..
