For years, I have been on the forefront of this issue. It is good to finally see this happening. Cruz doesn’t get much out of Zuckerberg, and I don’t believe a Senate grilling will change things. We need government intervention and enforcement of our First Amendment rights on what is now, for all intent and purposes, the public square.

The Right Scoop, April 10, 2018 :Ted Cruz really put Mark Zuckerberg on the spot today in regard to Facebook censorship of conservatives and conservatives sites, grilling him over specific pages that have been blocked by Facebook in what appears to be political bias, including the most recent Diamond and Silk.

Agreed Pam, these social media companies all have proven if they get absolute power they’re absolutely corrupt, esp FB, Twitter and Google/YouTube. I’m glad we’re at least grilling one of them-making a public display and letting these speech Nazis know we see what they’re doing.
But clearly they require oversight to ensure that the 1st Amend is always protected. Thousands of us have been permanently banned from these sites simply because we told the truth about Islam. I personally was always very careful never to use any slanders or hateful language about Muslims but the truth is no defense to these Leftist fascists.
This is why the US gov’t must step in and start protecting those of us who don’t walk in lockstep with radical left ideology. I really hope that something is done about it. We need independent govt oversight over all their decisions. Every banning past and present must be reviewed to see if individuals were treated unfairly and have those decisions reversed. I think they should compensate those they harassed as well.
Either Zuckerberg is lying or he’s a moron when he says he doesn’t know the political views of his 20,000 reviewers. Who the hell would hire anyone off the street to act as judge/jury/executioner over content issues? Were they not trained? He’s being deceptive because he knows if he admits they’re nearly all liberal it’ll make his bias obvious. We need more grilling like this-for other social media giants. They can’t be allowed to get away with their fascist censorship.

Rick, he is being truthful when he says he doesn’t know the political views of his reviewers. Given his hiring pool, can be safely assumed that they are people of the left, and thus can be reliably depended upon to look askance at sites like this. Moreover he knows that, or doesn’t want to know it. It is unfortnate that he is such a limited person when it comes to thinking about the present danger.

Congratulations, you just came out as un-American even though you didn’t say it. What part of the Constitution justifies oversight on 1A of a private enterprise? If such a law is passed, it should be struck down by the courts.

The issue is equal access to a public forum… THAT is why it can be monitored and they can be forced to either quit violating the rights of other people, or make their company a “private membership ONLY” company and then they can censor all they want. Of course, that means they go out of business…

A theory on this issue, and why it would seem like an attack on conservatives but isn’t:
Someone on the right violates TOS: it’s simply that and not an actual threat to commit a crime or incite the same…such can be deleted and punishment meted out there without having to notify any third parties.
Someone on the left violates TOS: it is more likely a situation that requires Facebook to notify the police. Law enforcement doesn’t want Facebook to delete the post so that an electronic trail can be built…and so it stays on longer.

You can almost sense Mark Suckerberg wants to MORPH into a Demon and he is struggling to holding it back. To keep the HORNS from appearing and his skin turning blood red and a tail growing out.

Cruz’s “grilling” of Zuckerberg was nothing but a dog & pony show; it gave Zuckerberg the opportunity to present his skillfully crafted lies and obfuscations so that afterwards everyone could pat each other on the back and go home telling themselves that they had actually done something good.
The absurdity of this whole theatrical performance was that what the people questioning Zuckerberg were asking him if he’d done was exactly the same as what THEY had been doing.
Things like this have become the standard operating procedure for our government: somebody does something horrible, they are required to be questioned at a hearing, they are asked questions and deny the charges, and then we are told, “Nothing to see here folks, now everybody just move along and go home”.

Cruz wasn’t the only member of Congress to bring up this issue of bias with Zuckerberg. Let’s just say Facebook is on notice for the preferential treatment given to Liberal news sources. Members brought up the censorship of Diamond and Silk’s site all day long, which Zuckerberg claimed was a “mistake,” as well as studies which show that Conservative news feeds are represented 16% less than Liberal ones.
I also observed that Republicans were much more polite and appreciative of Zuckerberg’s accomplishments and the good his creativity and his business success has brought to the world. R’s tend to be concerned with keeping creativity unburdened by excessive regulation. Let’s face it, if you want to want to create an omlette you have to be willing to break some eggs. Democrats were downright rude and insulting to Zuckerberg just because Facebook is a large and successful corporation. I can’t help but suspect he noticed the irony, considering he’s on Dem’s side.
I also noticed in his interchange with Cruz Zuckerberg actually was energized by the match. Most of his other exchanges with members required forbearance, as if Zuckerberg was speaking to fifth graders.
BTW, the Geller Report seem to be not functioning properly. I guess another attack?
