Saudi Crown Prince Claims He’s ‘Not Familiar’ with Wahhabism, Islam ‘a Religion of Peace’

54

Nothing this prince says is honest. Clearly he is trying to win support in the U.S. as leverage against Iran. To do so, he is employing taqiyya, deception to advance Islam, in a big way.

“I believe the Palestinians and the Israelis have the right to have their own land.” Which land is “Palestinian” and which is Israeli? When “Palestinians” chant that they want all the land “from the river to the sea,” which part of that land will Mohammed bin Salman deny them?

“Islam, in this context, was not about conquering, it was about peacefully spreading the word.” This is appallingly deceptive to anyone who knows anything about Islam’s 1,400-year history of jihad warfare, cultural annihilation, and enslavement.

Story continues below advertisement

“This Wahhabism—please define it for us,” he asked Goldberg. “We’re not familiar with it. We don’t know about it.” Wahhabism — a virulent and violent form of Islam — is and always has been the official religion of Saudi Arabia, and the Saudis have spent billions, if not trillions, to spread it around the world.

The Crown Prince hopes that those who read this interview (with the credulous Jewicidal Jeffrey Goldberg) won’t know all this. And most Americans don’t.

“Saudi Crown Prince Claims He’s ‘Not Familiar’ with Wahhabism, Islam ‘a Religion of Peace,’” by John Hayward, Breitbart, April 2, 2018:

In an interview with the Atlantic conducted from the compound of the Saudi ambassador in Washington, who happens to be his brother, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) offered strong criticism of Iran and some thoughts about the religious, cultural, and economic upheaval in progress in Saudi Arabia.

In one remarkable exchange, MBS recognized the right of Israel to exist—a bold step for any Arab leader, let alone the next guardian of Mecca and Medina.

Like many other interviewers, Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic highlighted 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed’s “directness” as his most arresting attribute. Goldberg amusingly describes the ambassador Prince Khalid and his staff teetering on the edge of a conniption fit every time MBS decided to drop a truth bomb. For example, he calls out the Supreme Leader of Iran as worse than Adolf Hitler.

“I believe the Iranian supreme leader makes Hitler look good. Hitler didn’t do what the supreme leader is trying to do. Hitler tried to conquer Europe. … The supreme leader is trying to conquer the world,” MBS said.

On Israel, Goldberg reports that he “did not have a bad word to say” about the Jewish state, and he went further than any other Arab leader has in acknowledging Israel’s right to exist.

“I believe that each people, anywhere, has a right to live in their peaceful nation. I believe the Palestinians and the Israelis have the right to have their own land,” said MBS. He proposed that the Gulf states and their allies like Egypt and Jordan have strong common interests with Israel.

Another interesting part of the interview concerned MBS’ ongoing effort to frame Saudi Arabia as a jovial land of moderate Islam temporarily caught up in the Islamist extremism of the late 1970s. He described his vision of a reformist Kingdom returning to its progressive roots and doing battle against the “triangle of evil” that seeks world conquest through fundamentalist Islam: Iran, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Sunni terrorist groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda.

“In this triangle, they are trying to promote the idea that our duty as Muslims is to reestablish the caliphate, to reestablish the mindset of the caliphate—that the glory of Islam is in building an empire by force,” MBS explained. “But God didn’t ask us to do this, and the Prophet Muhammad did not ask us to do this. God only asked us to spread the word. And this mission is accomplished.”

He gave his interpretation of the “Islam is a religion of peace” idea and sought to reconcile it with the violent history of the Middle East:

Islam is a religion of peace. This is the translation of Islam. God, in Islam, gives us two responsibilities: The first is to believe, to do good things, and not bad things. If we do bad things, God will judge us on Judgment Day.

Our second duty as Muslims is to spread the word of God. For 1,400 years, Muslims have been trying to spread the word of God. In the Middle East, in North Africa, in Europe, they weren’t allowed to spread the word. That’s why they fought to spread the word.

But you also see that, in a lot of countries in Asia—Indonesia, Malaysia, India—Muslims were free to spread the word. They were told, “Go ahead, say whatever you want to say, the people have free will to believe whatever they want to believe in.” Islam, in this context, was not about conquering, it was about peacefully spreading the word.

“Today, every human has the right to choose their belief,” MBS noted. “In every country, it is possible to buy religious books. The message is being delivered. We have no duty anymore to fight to spread Islam. But in the triangle of evil, they want to manipulate Muslims, to tell them their duty as Muslims – their dignity as Muslims—requires the establishment of a Muslim empire.”

When Goldberg pointed out that the Wahhabi fundamentalist ideology of Saudi Arabia long predates the dire events of 1979—the Ayatollah Khomeini’s revolution in Iran and the siege of the Grand Mosque in Mecca—MBS literally responded that he has no idea what “Wahhabism” is.

“This Wahhabism—please define it for us,” he asked Goldberg. “We’re not familiar with it. We don’t know about it.”

When Goldberg attempted a little history lesson about the centuries-old extremist ideology, MBS cut him off and essentially dismissed Wahhabi Islam as tripe, an illegitimate perversion that has no grounding in the recognized schools of Islamic thought. He dismissed Saudi support for Wahhabism in the 20th Century as an unfortunate and unnatural product of Cold War politics, pointedly refusing to denounce it as a mistake, but indicating that it was not something the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would ever consider doing again….

1. At the start of the Trump admin. The Saudi king swept aside his son’s older rival, so that Prince Mohammed bin Salman could take charge.
2. Prince Mohammed bin Salman immediately started with reforms in the country.
3. Trump’s “Drive Them Out” Speech – sets the tone for a new Middle East policy.
4. Saudi Arabia takes military action against the houthi militants in Yemen.
5. Prince Mohammed bin Salman decries ‘The Muslim Brotherhood’ an incubator for terrorists. Takes measures to remove Muslim Brotherhood influence in schools.
6. Prince Mohammed bin Salman publicly slams Obama’s Iran nuclear deal.
7. Prince Mohammed bin Salman publicly backs Israel’s right to exist ( this is huge).
8. Prince Mohammed bin Salman publicly slams Iran’s Supreme Leader ‘Makes Hitler Look Good’. Asks Trump to take a hard line approach to Iran, & threatens war if Iran does not stop its terror support.
So yeah while your cartoon holds some truth to Saudi Arabia of every administration before Trump, Saudi Arabia could now become a stabilizing factor for a new peace in the middle east.

1. My original post is not a post on the virtue (or lack thereof ) of Islamic text. It’s about power, politics and the struggle the House of Saud is in to retain its power in the Kingdom. Therefore THAT is why the new Saudi Prince is taking measure to clean up the mess they contributed to. AND THAT is the POINT I am trying to make. 2. Trust? Who the F said I trust them!?! 3. I never claimed to be an expert. The reply above yours suggested I read The ” Koran ” and learn the lessons of Kaybar. All I said was that I have been there and that I have read the Quran. I am well versed in the culture and history of the region, I never said I was an “expert” But I do know what Taqiyya and Kitman, or Murana is. 4. Last & most importantly, Thank you for your service.

Never said I Trust. when it comes to the middle east, I prefer the Netanyahu approach… “trust but verify.” and while you’re on the right track with Iran being a problem for SA. It’s actually a whole of a lot bigger. Iran funds ISIS, HAMAS AND HEZBOLLAH, it is arming the Houthis in Yemen. When the Muslim Brotherhood planned Arab Spring revolutions broke out in 2011, the Islamic Republic of Iran hailed them as an “Islamic awakening” and considered them as a continuation of its own revolution in 1979. Iran recognises the Muslim Brotherhood and Tehran have much in common, particularly the notion of “Islamic democracy”. Saudi Arabia on the other hand is threatening military action with Qatar for protecting and funding the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore the only thing I “TRUST” is that Trump’s middle east strategy seems to be working ( Google Trump’s Drive Them Out speech) and that for the first time in history, there is a real chance for stability and peace throughout the region.

Last, The Prince was put in power for a reason, The kingdom knows they must reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on oil, diversify its economy, & develop public service sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation and tourism if they are going to retain their power over their people. That is why I think they are willing to clean up the mess they contributed to from the past ( Wahhabism & Terrorist support).

I will have more faith in the Saudis when they start to take down the mega mosques that preach the Saudi Wahhabism, and turn them into true cultural centers that teach about all faiths, and even those that lack it. As long as they have their hate preachers in their hate mosques, words are just that, now time for action, or as you said verify.

We can only wait and see. The guy just took over the country less than a year ago. But I was encouraged greatly when I saw that he will eradicate any trace of Muslim Brotherhood influence and will dismiss anyone working in the sector who sympathizes with the banned group. The education ministry is working to “combat extremist ideologies by reviewing school curricula and books. Some of those books made it to Muslim private schools & Mosques in the US in late 90’s to early 2000’s. Time will tell if he cracks down on the wahhabis in the same manner, as they do shill for the royal family, big time. But there’s glimmers of hope like he has already taken some steps to loosen Saudi Arabia’s uber-strict social restrictions, scaling back the role of religious morality police, permitting public concerts and announcing plans to allow women to drive.

This is a totally new direction, and I do believe it is in part to Trump policy.

Real courage from the Prince would be outlawing wahhabism and the MB as both being poison from the same fruit tree, and ushering in a new Islam that retracts all of Muhammad’s vitriol from pedophelia to jew and apostate hatred to legal slavery. Sharia must become a thing of the past.

If he makes big changes through actions, ones that might actually reform Islam, then I will take him seriously.

And yes, I think Trump is helping the Prince re shape his narrative, but again, so far only words.

Analyzing this paragraph…

> “Muslims have been trying to spread the word” — All we are doing is TRYING, an innocent-sounding word. You must give us credit for TRYING.

> “they weren’t allowed to spread the word” — Poor us. We are such VICTIMS.

> “That’s why we fought to spread the word.” — You MADE us kill you. (Queue ‘Achmed the Dead Terrorist’: “I kill you!”)

NO!

Pick your poison!
They will say and do anything to advance Islam or protect their sect of Islam.

Muslims have their six lies that are tenets of Islam, It is perfectly reasonably not to trust Muslims based on the fact that lying is categorized for Muslim’s convenience.

• Taqiyya (Shia) or Muda’rat (Sunni): tactical deceit for the purposes of spreading Islam.
• Kitman: deceit by omission.
• Tawriya: deceit by ambiguity.
• Taysir: deceit through facilitation
(not having to observe all the tenets of Sharia).
• Darura: deceit through necessity (to engage in something “Haram” or forbidden).
• Muruna: the temporary suspension of Sharia in order that Muslim immigrants appear “moderate”.

“non-orthodox” is a meaningless sobriquet when applied to islum. There is no such thing as an “orthodox”, “reformed”, “conservative”, “protestant” mosque or state.

Orthodox; 1- of, relating to, or conforming to the approved form of any doctrine, philosophy, ideology, etc.

The “radicals” hold to the textual and historical roots of their religion and thus are orthodox by definition. Those who do not do so are non-orthodox or liberal in their theology.
