UK: Social media giants are allowing jihadists to ‘act with impunity’ after failing to report a SINGLE potential jihadist to terror police

21

This is all happening, mind you, while the same social media giants are clamping down hard on conservatives, shutting us out of their forums in every conceivable way. Since they control virtually all of the means of communication today, this is extremely serious, and ominous. The only voices that Facebook, Google, Twitter et al are allowing to be heard are those of the left, and their allies, jihad terrorists. This story ought to be enough to prompt legislators in Britain and the U.S. as well to begin to limit these social media giants’ power over the public discourse, and break up their monopoly. But so far, politicians have shown little to no interest.

“Social media giants are allowing Jihadists to ‘act with impunity’ after failing to report a SINGLE potential extremist to terror police,” by Tim Sculthorpe, Mailonline, March 6, 2018 (thanks to Inexion):

Social media giants have not given British police a single tip-off over terrorist material on their websites.

Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Twitter are allowing jihadists to ‘act with impunity’ by uploading beheading videos and bomb-making manuals, the country’s most senior counter-terror officer said yesterday.

The internet companies have not made any direct referrals to the police about extreme content, even though it has inspired deadly attacks.

Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, the outgoing chief of UK counter-terror policing, said they are threatening public safety to maximise ‘profit and customer satisfaction’.

His remarks raise the spectre of terrorists freely plotting online to carry out atrocities against the UK before the police become aware of them.

Web giants face calls to tighten online security after Britain was hit by five attacks in London and Manchester last year. The attacks left 36 people dead and all of them had an online component.

Speaking at a counter-terror conference in London, Mr Rowley said social media firms should work with police in the same way banks had been made to co-operate on tracing dirty money.

He said: ‘Those extremists who utilise cyber space have proved highly influential and dangerous actors.

‘They have successfully encouraged, directed, enabled and promoted terrorist attacks with the click of a mouse or the tap of a screen.

‘The online extremists seem able to act with impunity, occupying spaces owned and managed by legitimate and very wealthy corporations.

‘I am disappointed that in the UK as a police service we are yet to receive a direct referral from them when they have identified such behaviour.’

Last night Twitter responded by saying that 95 per cent of terrorist content was removed using purpose-built technology and 75 per cent of accounts were suspended before their first tweet.

They are effectively private tenants to their communication service provider landlords. In the real world if a landlord knew their property was being used to plan or inspire terrorist attacks you would expect them to show corporate responsibility by informing the authorities and evicting them forthwith. We want to see those same standards applied in the virtual world.

The web giants have set up the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism to clamp down on extreme content.

Calling for a whole-society response to the terror threat – from both Islamist and right-wing extremists – Mr Rowley said 14 potential plots had been thwarted last year….

” to counter terrorism and clamp down on extreme content “, well they’re doing that alright, because it’s our views they class as “extreme” and our demonstrations and public debates they think of as “terrorism”.

I’ve lost all faith in the officers of the law when they and their political masters play host for 3 days to Arab despots funding mosques and terror in Christian countries, indulge their ignorant and prejudiced fancies in political show trials while refusing to offend some by drawing correct conclusions about terrorism by shutting mosques, removing muslims by the million and banning the real “hate speech” found there.

There are a lot of people who go along with it and say “but they are a private company.” They are private companies that are too big and work with governments enough to invalidate that argument.

I am unsure as to the thoroughness of Mr Rowley’s researchers in this matter. It would be easy to identify a text post wich contained extremist content, but video and audio podcasts are a different technical challenge. The social media providers would require sufficient computing resources to stream each podcast through a speech to text service that understood Arabic, Hindi, Urdu at the minimum, plus apply image recognition to each frame of video to look for suspicious text signs or objects. So I doubt the credibility of the claims made by the social media giants that their tools scrubbed 95% of extremist content. Additionally look at the CEO’s and execs for those companies; I sometimes wonder how sincere they are in their “opposition” of terrorism.
Sometimes I wonder how sincere London’s mayor is given that five attacks occurred within one year, and that he has admitted to using violence to deal with bullies.
Lastly I will add that the UK has had many long years of experience in fighting the terrorists of the IRA, who were all white, so why are they having trouble with a few jihadists? Looks like police training has some deficiencies.

Social media are mostly liberal socialists who due to hating western civilization, especially Christianity, patronize islam as they are too stupid and weak to do anything themselves, so they get muslims, who are bigoted stooges to begin with, to do their dirty work for them. However, a lot of people will happily be meat for muslim dogs as they are too fat headed to realize what they are being used for. Social media giants became billionaires by selling volunteers for whatever the market in suckers would pay.

The social media; Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New World,’ the overlord conjured-up Soma, a mind-numbing drug to placate the masses, indoctrinating them to toe-the-line. Progressivism is base censorship; Facebook et al, are a co-mingling of Fifth Column factions nurturing suppression of ideologies opposed to the Progressive/Totalitarian doctrine. Treason, apparently, is unworthy of indictment when committed by the Social Media or others of its perfidy.

When the UK, or the U.S. has the next terror attack and it can be traced back to some social media posting, charges of conspiracy and obstructing should be leveled against that company. Or, the UK can simply seriously restrict FB and other social media traffic into its country. If those social media giants think they can act that way, if they are hit in their bottom line, they’ll take notice. There’s no other way.

I do the same, once in awhile. But I’m NOT a member of Youtubed and will never be. Love to comment, but you have to be a member.

But then, I looked at all the comments and there is no way anybody reads them, due to it’s prolific nature. Kind of self-defeating and not worth it the way it is setup by Youtubed.

Too much of a hassle to read them, anyway. I really only like Disqus way of commenting and generally avoid commenting on other types.

EVERYBODY should be using Disqus.

You do realize disqus has begun censoring comments and commentators?

and

I wouldn’t be surprised if this comment were to disappear.

I generally do not have a problem with them. But someone impersonated me using my Disqus name.
There is only one way they can do that. And I suspect the culprit was a Disqus staff, though, I have no proof.
I had to delete thousands of comments and reset my Avatar and it is now marked Private. Before, I left it open.
