This will be just the first of many sharia rulings in Sweden. There is a controversy over this one, but it will die down. There will be less of a controversy over the next one. And even less on the one after that. Given Sweden’s suicidal migration policies, sharia is coming to Sweden, and nothing is being done about it. The leftist and “feminist” politicians who have advocated for that mass migration will one day wake up and realize that sharia is incompatible with free societies. But by then it will be far too late.
“Lay judge criticized over Sharia ruling in Solna,” Save My Sweden, February 25, 2018:
In a landmark case, the Solna District Court has acquitted an Iraqi man suspected of abusing wife by pushing her against furniture, pulling her hair and hitting her face with a shoe. The court called the credibility of the woman’s testimony into question, stressing her “lowly” parentage.
Story continues below advertisementIn addition to stressing that the man “came from a good family,” unlike the woman, the court ruled that the fact that the woman turned to the police instead of the husband’s family “further” undermined her credibility. According to the court, “the normal thing” to do “in these circles” would be to try and resolve the conflict within the family.
The ruling, adopted by a divided court, triggered an immediate response from Sweden’s legal circles.
“This is one of the most prejudiced and strange judgments I have read. Not completely unexpectedly dictated by two lay judges. Still no one in charge who wants to do something about the lay judge system?”
former Swedish Bar Association president Bengt Ivarsson tweeted.
Prosecutor Josefine Dahlqvist appealed the ruling straight away, claiming that the ruling violated the foundations of Sweden‘s legal system.
One of the two lay judges who freed the man is Center Party veteran Ebtisam Aldebe, who is known for having advocated special legislation for Sweden’s Muslims (especially in divorce and inheritance rights) in a 2006 interview with Swedish broadcaster SVT. Aldebe ran for parliament in 2014 and is a member of the social committee in Solna. Aldebe also played a key role in rejecting at least three Christian converts asylum during her time as board member in Stockholm’s Administrative Court, according to the Christian newspaper Världen Idag.
“I’ve ruled in many cases. I’ve ruled in favor of men in some cases and in favor of women in others. In this case, I followed the law. Swedish law,” Ebtisam Aldebe argued in her defense.
However, Center Party leader Annie Lööf condemned the ruling and called for both lay judges to leave their roles.
“Horrendous judgment in Solna. Hair-raising reasoning and values that have no place in a state built on legal principles. These values have no place in our party. Our politics are based on all people’s equal rights and value, and being equal before the law,”
Lööf tweeted.
Roger Haddad, justice spokesman for the Liberal Party, which alongside the Center Party is part of the four-party center-right Alliance opposition, stressed that “politically appointed lay judges” were unacceptable.
“I definitely do not want those who are in favor of sharia laws in Sweden,”
Haddad tweeted.
Following accusations of supporting “honor-related culture,” the Center Party was forced to specifically stress in a clarifying tweet it was “not in favor of sharia law.” The Center Party also tweeted that it had lost confidence in both lay judges….

On tuesday March 6 I had the dismal occurrence to see Trump hold a press conference with Swede leader Stefan Lofven. Mr Lofven is the worst excuse of humanity and testosterone, and the Swedish people should cook him like a pig that he is. Any other males in gov’t should resign while they can. Not exactly “sharia law” being applied overtly, as the headline made it seem. Lay judges, who are not lawyers, applying their own version of “common sense” in split-the-baby type rulings in a low-level court for minor crimes, and (at least) one of them happened to be (apparently, from the name) a Muslim immigrant, like the defendant AND the complainant, and relied on her “common sense” about what a woman in her situation “should” do — go to the husband’s family to complain, not to court — and thus the woman was “not credible,” also given her lowly upbringing and her husband’s high-class origins. A sad miscarriage of justice, but not unlike what occurs in many courts around the world, in the UK and USA as well, when a judge’s personal bias affects the ruling, without any specific reference to sharia law. The light sentence in the Idaho child-rape case which Ms. Geller told us about on this site some months ago is another example — but probably had no more to do with explicit reference to sharia law than did the light sentence given to the blond, blue-eyed white swim team dude from Stanford in his rape conviction a while back.
Yes, it’s a horrible decision, and a worrying trend, but once again, the headline exaggerates for emotional effect.

Many others, outside the Center Party, also spoke up in Sweden condemning the ruling. That doesn’t sound like iether “cowardice” or “capitulation to Islam” to me. What it amounts to is TWO biased judges of Muslim culture ruling on a case involving a Muslim husband and wife. IF they get away with doing that and nobody in power nips it in the bud, this COULD lead to more frequent reference to sharia principles rather than Swedish legal principles by Muslim judges. So, time will tell if the protests and condemnations shut this down, or if the biased rulings by lay Muslim judges continue.

So? Headlines matter. For some people, that’s all they read. And if a headline lies or gives a misleading impression, that’s how people will remember the article.
Perhaps a better headline for this post of Ms. Geller’s would be: “Sweden: Muslim judge relies on personal bias and Muslim culture to acquit Muslim who beat his wife.” Similar, but “sharia law” is a very specific thing, not just a synonym for “Muslim culture.”
Otherwise, that’s like saying a hick judge in Texas who acquitted a murder defendant accused of shooting an annoying neighbor because “he needed killin'” was “applying American law.” Both the idiot in Sweden and the idiot in Texas were doing nothing having anything to do with applying law of any kind, just making a snap judgment based on their own biases.

I agree it’s too long. So was the Geller Report headline I was basing it on — for certain media. In other contexts, it would be about right. I actually just cut, pasted, and edited it.
As for the Texas judge, perhaps I wasn’t clear. I wasn’t talking about a “hangin’ judge” who would give the death penalty; I was talking about a LENIENT judge who would let the killer go free, because the VICTIM “needed killin.” I guess you hadn’t heard that old Texas joke before.

The old Texas joke has been around since before hillary was working truck stops. In any event it can be taken a number of ways. “Needed killing” could be interpreted as something that was necessary, or something that should have been done but wasn’t. One must try to be specific in cases of ambiguity.

That’s true. But since I was drawing a parallel, NOT a contrast, with the Swedish case, where an irrationally lenient judge let a criminal off the hook based on the judge’s cultural expectation as to what the defendant was accused of doing that “there’s nothing wrong with that,” I thought the reference would be reasonably clear to anyone familiar with the “Texas defense” joke. And there is NOT a version of the “he needed killin” joke that refers to Draconian sentencing tendencies, anyway, only the opposite.
Glad you got it. But I didn’t want to spoil the fun by explaining the punch line.

How much more islamophobic can a person get? To be a muslim is to accept sharia unquestioningly. You are saying to not let any muslims in.

It is what it is. By your definition I am right. However, the quote at the top was found in the article. I only pointed out the obvious. If a muslim cannot refrain from beating his wife because sharia allows it but the country he wants to enter has laws against it, he should find somewhere more appropriate to his life choices… or abide by the laws where he wants to move to and not beat his wife. Again, problem?

The invasion of Sweden will soon be complete when Muslims are elected into office, if they aren’t already. Muslims are encouraged to have large families in order to offset the native population. Soon the Swedes will be required to pay the non-Muslim tax and become second class people not deserving any respect from Muslims. The guy that tried to expel Muslims from his country was right but used the wrong procedure which was completely unacceptable.
