Raban Alou, according to the Daily Mail Australia, “had been in trouble with the law as a teenager, for drug use, robbery and armed robbery.” But then he turned to Islam, and Australian officials were pleased: “a January 2015 report by the Department of Juvenile Justice” actually “praised Alou for ‘getting more involved in his religion, stopping his cannabis use and disassociating himself from his negative peer group.’” Unfortunately, Alou’s involvement in Islam turned out not to be as salutary as the Department of Juvenile Justice assumed it would be: in October 2015, Alou “helped 15-year-old Farhad Jabar shoot police accountant Mr Cheng outside the New South Wales Police Headquarters in Parramatta.”
But that is unlikely to stop the Department of Juvenile Justice from assuming that Islam that Islam is an unalloyed force for good in the next young Muslim juvenile offender’s life. Australia’s Department of Juvenile Justice, like authorities all over the West, universally assume this, and so figured that Raban Alou’s growing more observant in Islam would mean that he would become a good, solid citizen.
Authorities all over the West consistently ignore the fact that jihadis are virtually all deeply observant Muslims. There has been a good deal of misinformation about this, with Islamic apologists claiming that they’re actually ignorant of Islam or non-observant, but there is little, if any, evidence to back this claim. A few years ago some Islamic State jihadis ordered some basic books on Islam from Amazon, and that is just about the sole evidence adduced to show that jihadis are not knowledgeable and devout Muslims. On the other side is a mountain of evidence, that the Islamic State mandated hours of Qur’an study every day, and that numerous jihadis became more observant in Islam before they turned to jihad violence.

Take, for example, the Islamic State (ISIS). In its heyday (and down to the present day, whenever it issues new threats to non-Muslims), it quoted the Qur’an frequently: in threats to blow up the White House and conquer Rome and Spain; in explaining its priorities in the nations it is targeting in jihad; in preaching to Christians after collecting the jizya (a Qur’an-based tax, cf. Qur’an 9:29); in justifying the execution of accused spies; and in its various videos.
The Islamic State also awarded $10,000 prizes and sex slaves in Qur’an memorization contests. One of its underground lairs was found littered with weapons and copies of the Qur’an. Children in the Islamic State studied the Qur’an and get weapons training.
But surely this is all for show, no? They may praise study of the Qur’an, but they don’t actually read it, right? Unfortunately, Muslims who do read it also have joined the Islamic State. One Malaysian Muslim said just that, that the Qur’an led him to join the Islamic State. A Muslima in the U.S. promoted the Islamic State by quoting the Qur’an. An Islamic State propagandist’s parents said of him: “Our son is a devout Muslim. He had learnt the Quran by heart.” A Muslim politician from Jordan said that the Islamic State’s “doctrine stems from the Qur’an and Sunnah.”
Despite all this evidence, however, the willful ignorance among non-Muslim authorities is nearly universal. And so when the next wayward Muslim youth comes before them, it is virtually certain that Australia’s Department of Juvenile Justice will demonstrate that it has learned nothing from the case of Raban Alou, and will once again praise the young man’s newfound interest in his faith. It seems as if no matter how explosive the consequences of this refusal to face reality become, the fog of false assumptions will not be dispelled.

We’ve had two Canadian soldiers murdered on Canadian soil, one run over by a Muslim in Quebec and one shot dead while standing on guard next a monument in Ottawa. Then Muslim men were arrested while planning to blow up and derail a train travelling to the U.S., thus murdering scores of people. Just note that in all cases these were Muslims, not Baptists, Jews, Anglicans or Methodists, yet who does the Prime Minister of Canada and various authorities defend? Muslims who somehow are presented as the persecuted ones. It takes real genius to concoct such garbage, but this is what is taking place.

Well said, again, Michael. The West has become the vacuum you’ve described and for “decadent options” you’ve listed. After some 30 years ago I arrived back in Canada from my native South Africa, on tv I saw a man who was introduced as Canada’s leading sociologist. For me the most memorable thing he said was that “Canadians don’t believe in anything much anymore”. I considered that really troubling because people who “don’t believe in anything much anymore” – other than creature comforts and worldly possessions – won’t fight for anything much anymore and powers of discernment have gone to the dogs. And so it has proven with churches totally gutless. It matters not how much Muslims cause Christians utter misery in Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, Mali, Libya, etc, don’t expect to hear a word of condemnation of Muslims or Islam, or collection of money to help those suffering “brothers and sisters in Christ” (as they express about Christians overseas) and then do nothing for them. Like the usual pagans all around, those who call themselves Christian have drunk the coolaid and are in a state of stupefaction that I don’t understand. The West could smash Muslim countries and grind them into the ground, but within government and the appalling liberal media they are so overtaken by liberal mush and stupidity that they allow vile, hostile hoards of Islam into their countries where they cause endless problems while imposing themselves on these societies. I’m at loss to understand such stupidity, ignorance and cowardice.

I was in Canada in 1978…Prince Edward Island…nice. Very nice. I was 18. Vast country and people of similar disposition to us.
I’m catholic and pray and go to Mass though ‘faith no more’ seems to be the order of the day for youth and indeed anyone born after about 1970. Abortion, homosexuality and hedonism is rife. The sewer that is the internet has just about washed away all vestiges of decency and drug and alcohol use is stupefying our young. Sexual promiscuity is rampant. The MSM is woeful as are our politicians by and large. It is a society that has abandoned God, although my church has 13 Masses each weekend and confession runs almost non stop. St Patrick’s Cathedral Church Hill has 7 Priests. I feel at home there. I have a place in the bush where my nearest neighbour is over a mile away. It has spring fed dams and is completely off grid. Handy. Life is good,though I suspect the winds of change will sweep all this comfort away soon enough. People like to talk about wiping out all muslims and arming themselves. Me, yeah it pays to be en guard, but the most powerful weapon in this world is the Holy Rosary. That’s my take.

So well said, the internet really is “a sewer” that can and often does contaminate minds. Over the weekend while searching for some rugby match suddenly a whole montage of live sexual acts appeared. It’s happened before, but thankfully does not hold any fascination for me, so I turn it off and continue my search for a rugby match. But what of minds that are fascinated? It ruins minds, lives and marriages.
Your place in the bush sounds a pleasant refuge from an increasingly disagreeable world. I was widowed many years ago and now through a tragedy have two grandchildren, 8 and 9, in my permanent custody. In this country today with it’s insane notions of what constitutes a ‘family’ I could not entertain the thought of them landing up in a foster home – that could also constitute something far from the traditional family. Not only the idea of ‘family’ is under assault, so is the notion of father and mother, girl and boy. After all, kids are being told the utter rubbish that they can be whatever gender they choose. Pretty much everything is done to accommodate the not just wishes, but ‘demands’ of minorities, most of all the LGBTQ mob that, long ago evident, is supported by Canadian Human Rights Tribunals, which, as the admirable University of Toronto Prof Jordan Peterson points out, are simply kangaroo courts. And Canada, no longer much of a democracy, continues to permit their existence. The premier is a despotic-minded lesbian, and with the opposition weak, consumed by muddle headed politically correct thought, individuals dismally lacking in independent instincts and gravitating to characterless conformity, she gets to impose her ideas that happen to accommodate her sexual disorientation. So yes, in the children’s school I’ve fought against their efforts to brain-wash about Islam and challenge their lying rubbish regarding homosexuality and transgenderism. I’ve taken the trouble to research the latter so know what is science’s findings. Support for these personal efforts is zero because parents don’t want to rock the boat, but about this I don’t have any expectations and really couldn’t care less what others think. The challenge is to never give in and never lose your humour.

Intelligent, sound thinking and common sense has deserted these societies – along with honesty. Does any other national ‘leader’ match Justin’ass Trudeau for pure idiocy or have as worthless a media Conrad Black describes as one that “no sane person believes”. In the latter regard I think that Oz does. Liberal thought has turned Western societies into virtual lunatic asylums where truths about Islam and Muslim behaviour is denied. They’ve bought into the ‘Islamophobia’ coolaid; the lights have gone out, democratic practices are shunned and in their place are intolerant, dictatorial, conformity-demanding bodies – like Canada’s Human Rights Commissions – driven by silly minds that have turned to mush and reject fairness and decency.

I’m glad that Australia is not quite as bad as Canada. My son has visited Oz where I have family and while enjoying his time there he considered the Oz media about as trashy as that of Canada. Truth is not a pressing pursuit to such people. And then we’ve read about your police being utterly disgusting over Muslim violence and threats of violence, such ‘leaning on’ the immigrant who recorded (and put on the internet) the Muslim murderer in Melbourne shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ while in his vehicle running down pedestrians. The police asked him to remove this recording from the internet. I would have told them to get lost. As in the UK and Canada the authorities protect the savages and vilify anyone who endeavours to warn the public against Islam.

We can own guns Rob. If you have no convictions for violent type behaviour (otherwise you have to wait 10 years with no further convictions), and can show evidence of a place to shoot…eg a gun club or a property owned by you or friends or family, then it is easy. We cannot get machine guns and automatics and I like most of my fellow countrymen are happy with that. Comparing Australia with the US re guns is like apples and oranges. US has a gun culture based on the war of Independence and the Constitutional rights. Australia never had to fight a domestic war. Many Aussies did not give up their guns and kept them hidden during the buy back. Lots of Aussies have gun but generally not in the cities. Different cultures. You can walk downtown here and be pretty sure you will not get shot, even in the seediest areas. We have no NOGO Zones although there are some areas like Riverwood where ambos get rocks thrown, but it is isolated. I will acknowledge though that way too many muslims own guns here and that is an issue!
