Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel is facing growing calls to resign for what some lawmakers in Florida say was his dereliction of duty in the case of 17 students and staffers just killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Why?
Apparently, it may not have been just one deputy who hid from the shooter while the kids were getting killed. Newly released records show it was actually four.

And Israel leads this department.

Not one but four sheriff’s deputies hid behind cars instead of storming Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, Fla., during Wednesday’s school shooting, police claimed Friday — as newly released records revealed the Broward County Sheriff’s Office had received at least 18 calls about the troubled teen over the past decade.
Sources from Coral Springs, Fla., Police Department tell CNN that when its officers arrived on the scene Wednesday, they were shocked to find three Broward County Sheriff’s deputies behind their cars with weapons drawn.
The school’s armed resource officer, Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Scot Peterson, was also outside. He resigned on Thursday after his failure to act was publicly revealed.
The Coral Springs cops entered the building to engage the shooter on their own, before other Broward County deputies arrived, two of whom joined the police inside, the sources said.
It was unclear whether the shooter was still inside at the time, CNN reported.
Coral Springs City Manager Mike Goodrum confronted Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel during a vigil for victims the next day, saying students could have been dying in the school while the deputies held back.
The next day, Coral Springs Police Chief Tony Pustizzi wrote in an internal e-mail that “another agency has given the impression that it had provided the majority of the rescue efforts.”
“Please know that this issue will be addressed, and the truth will come out in time,” he wrote.
In an official statement Friday, the police department said only that “any actions or inactions that negatively affected the response will be investigated.”
News of the deputies’ apparent inaction came after the sheriff’s office released records showing how many times it had received alarming reports about Cruz, 19, over the years — including two that specifically warned he was a potential school shooter.
The records show that a neighbor called in February 2016 to report that Cruz “planned to shoot up the school” and had posted photos to Instagram of himself posing with guns.
The information was passed on to Peterson, but it was not clear what, if anything, he did with it.
Another person phoned the sheriff’s office in November last year to say the teen was stockpiling guns and knives and warn that “he could be a school shooter in the making,” the records show.
But the caller was told to contact the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office instead because Cruz had moved out of Broward, according to the records.
In September 2016, a peer counselor told Peterson that Cruz had tried to kill himself by drinking gasoline, was cutting himself, possessed hate symbols and expressed a desire to buy a gun “for hunting.”
This time, Peterson did make a report, but a mental-health worker determined Cruz didn’t meet the state’s criteria for involuntary commitment to a psychiatric facility, the records show.
Cruz stayed at the school for another five months before he was transferred out.
And that’s not all.
Apparently, a tipster phoned to the FBI on January 5 that she had a bad feeling about Nikolas Cruz, the shooter — that she just knew he was going to explode.

“I know he’s going to explode,” a woman who knew Mr. Cruz said on the F.B.I.’s tip line on Jan. 5. Her big worry was that he might resort to slipping “into a school and just shooting the palce up.” Forty days later, Mr. Cruz is accused of doing just that, barging into his former high school in Parkland, Fla., and shooting 17 people to death.
And, from the Sun-Sentinel:
The FBI tipster whose call to the agency last month was ignored warned an employee that she was concerned about Nikolas Cruz “getting into a school and just shooting the place up,” according to a transcript of the call obtained by the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
The caller, whose name is removed from the transcript, said she was worried that Cruz was “going to explode.” The woman spoke with an FBI employee for more than 13 minutes on Jan. 5 and said she also alerted local authorities about him.
“I just want someone to know about this so they can look into it,” the woman said. “I just know I have a clear conscience if he takes off and…just starts shooting places up.”
Cruz is accused of killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on Feb. 14.

Here… from Daniel Greenfield’s article discussing the issue:
The perpetrators of the Parkland school massacre, the Las Vegas massacre and the Texas First Baptist Church massacre were Americans. Muslim terrorists however were responsible for the mass shootings at the Pulse nightclub and in San Bernardino. While the Vegas shooter was responsible for the deadliest attack last year, the deadliest attacks of 2015 and 2016 were both carried out by Muslim terrorists.
Two of the last three years were dominated by mass shootings carried out by Muslim terrorists.
In the last decade, there were only 10 major mass shootings where the death toll went into the double digits. Three of those were carried out by Muslim terrorists. That’s all the more remarkable since Muslims make up less than 1% of the United States population, but account for 33% of major mass shootings. Proportional to their representation in the population, Muslims are responsible for far more mass shootings than Americans.
The trend is worrisome. Since 2015, not a single year has passed without a Muslim mass shooting. While 2017’s Muslim mass shooter Kori Ali Muhammad only managed to kill three people in Fresno, his expressions of racial and religious hatred make it clear that we are dealing with a hateful pattern.
Muhammad had sought to kill “as many white males as possible”. He shouted, “Allahu Akbar” when captured by the police. While the media has emphasized Dylann Storm Roof’s racist attack on a black church in Charleston, he was only 1 of 3 racially motivated mass shooters in the past 5 years, 2 were African-Americans, Muhammad and Micah Xavier Johnson, the Black Lives Matter protester who murdered 5 Dallas police officers. Johnson’s massacre of police officers and September 11 were the deadliest attacks on American police officers in this century. Both were carried out by Muslim attackers.
Johnson and Muhammad allegedly both had Nation of Islam ties. As did Gavin Long, who shot six police officers (three fatally), in a spree of racist violence. The funeral of Lovelle Mixon, who murdered 4 police officers in Oakland, included a minister from the Nation of Islam. A hate group championed by Obama’s church, by the Congressional Black Caucus and by a top figure in the Democratic National Committee.
The Nation of Islam is the racist hate group whose leader had met with Obama. Rep. Keith Ellison, No. 2 at the DNC, was a longtime member and it was recently revealed that he had also met with its leader.
It is deeply disturbing to learn that two-thirds of the racist mass shootings in the past 5 years were carried out by murderers with ties to a racist hate group that had connections inside the White House, whose leader had met with members of the Congressional Black Caucus and whose man has the second top job at the DNC. When asked about his Farrakhan connections, Rep. Ellison attempted to deflect by urging the media to look at white nationalist gun violence. But black nationalist gun violence is just as important. And it is rarely discussed because its existence taints top Democrats like Obama and Ellison.
John Allen Muhammad, also known as the Beltway Sniper, was also a member of the Nation of Islam. The racist terrorist and his accomplice murdered 17 people. The NOI has less than 50,000 members and yet it has managed to account for a disproportionate number of mass murderers in this century alone.
Can gun control stop Muslim mass shootings? Gun control advocates urge us to be more like Europe.
The Muslim terrorists who attacked the offices of Charlie Hebdo came packing assault rifles, submachine guns and a grenade launcher. The Bataclan terrorists had assault rifles and hand grenades. The total death toll from that wave of attacks stands at 130. Last year, a Muslim terrorist opened fire on police officers on the Champs Elysees with an AK-47 rifle. Gun control doesn’t stop Muslim terrorists.

It’s a 2 edged sword. IF nobody had guns, gun control would work, but you would be at the merci of a bad government. Since the guns are already in abundance, a “Concealed Carry” is an obligation for Law abiding citizen.
Nothing wrong with teacher(s) being armed and ready. Absolutely NO legal ramifications when defending their school/pupils AND give them a Medal of Honor for any foiled attempt of another school shooting.

Except of course, real bad guys would get guns because thats what the black market would of course bring. The rest of what you say is accurate. Using a couple of concealed carry folks, well trained, would indeed work and of course, the need to get rid of the 1990 legislation that brought this all to a head- the no gun zone laws that mandate no guns in federally funded schools. That was unbelievable stupid then, and as now. It needs to be repealed.
The need to hold people accountable when they write software like grand theft auto and worse; hunting other people software, also needs to be discussed.

You are absolutely correct. I live in Australia, Guns/Hand Guns are VERY restricted and there is NO legal concealed and carry. But I can buy illegally a handgun without any problems.
Laws are made to be broken, usually by the criminal element.
