This is how they impose Islam in the public square. Chip, chip, chip. Anywhere Islamic law conflicts with American law, it is American law that must give way. And there is ….. no end to these accommodations (submissions). In this case, she should have removed her hijab to show she wasn’t hiding anything in it. It’s a simple matter of security. But Islam trumps everything.

The city of Long Beach has agreed to pay $85,000 to settle a federal lawsuit filed by a Muslim woman whose hijab was pulled off by a male officer while she was in police custody.
Story continues below advertisementThe settlement, approved Tuesday, concludes the legal battle undertaken by Kirsty Powell, an African American Muslim. Her lawsuit, filed in 2016, prompted the Long Beach Police Department to reverse its policy barring inmates from wearing religious head coverings.
“There really is no justification for taking off a person’s religious headgear,” said Powell’s attorney, Marwa Rifahie, who also works for the Greater Los Angeles Area Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The case started in May 2015 when Powell and her husband were stopped by two officers because he was driving a lowrider vehicle on Long Beach Boulevard, Rifahie said.
She provided them with her identification information. When officers ran her name through their database, they discovered she had three misdemeanor warrants for petty theft, vehicle theft and resisting arrest, police said.
Powell was not aware that a warrant had been issued for a 2002 petty theft offense, her attorney said. The other warrants were issued after Powell’s sister had falsely used her name, according to the federal lawsuit.
As officers prepared to arrest Powell, her husband requested that a female officer be called to the scene since physical contact must be done by a woman, the lawsuit contends.
The officers refused and handcuffed Powell, according to the suit. She was then told she would have to remove her hijab.
Powell told the officers “that she wears a hijab in accordance with her religious practice and that it is her legal right to wear it,” the lawsuit said.
She was driven to the Long Beach police station, where she was booked and stripped of her hijab in front of other male officers and inmates, according to the lawsuit.
Powell was detained for 24 hours without her hijab. Once she was allowed to leave, she was given a property bag containing it.
“She was held in the jail overnight, forced to sit in a cell feeling distraught, vulnerable and naked without her headscarf to everyone that passed,” the lawsuit said. “She cried throughout the ordeal and experienced humiliation when both her religious beliefs and personal integrity were violated. She felt that the male officers and male inmates had seen parts of her body that they should not have seen, according to her religious beliefs.”
Shortly after her release, Powell reached out to CAIR, the Muslim civil rights organization, to go over her options.
In April 2016, she filed the lawsuit, alleging that her 1st Amendment rights had been violated….

A federal law should be passed prohibiting any state or local government from paying the jizyah, even in the form of settlements. Any verdict in favor of a Muslim plaintiff should be void under federal law. We are at war.

Whether by choice or not, as most French and Belgians believe, a covered head on a Muslim woman is much less of a “religious” symbol than a symbol of the subjugation of women, male dominance and the inferiority of the female in Islam. It’s an affront to civilised values, and in particular to centuries of struggle for equality for women.

So now, the LBPD has caved to the muslim mandate, to the detriment of their own officers. Every officer in that department should either protest, or walk out. Their safety factor just went down to practically zero. As a CA resident, I protest that my tax dollars are going to pay for this woman’s lawsuit, so that she can continue to ride around in her lowrider car, no doubt on public assistance and gloating to everyone that she beat the system. Disgusting.

This is a good thing, really, the cash award will be paid from the tax revenue of the state, which is bankrupt, to accelerate this, every muslims should get a huge cash award so that the tax payers can see where their money is being spent. Not that they care because they are all living on borrowed money as well, but, like is happening in western europe, the fools and their money are being parted.

while standing in line at dulles waiting to get my genitals groped by the tsa monkeys, i watched some “thing” is a full burqua bypass our line and walk through a metal detector. i followed the “thing” to a waiting area for a flight to saudi arabia. so although i have to stand in line because of muslim terrorism against us, muslims are not required to be searched by tsa. this country is as dumb as a bag of hammers; we deserve what’s coming

Must have been a schmucky judge. Hijabs are not mandated in the Koran. it was a program stated by the Ayatolla Khomeini during the Iranian revolution against the Shah. The defense attorney for the city must be worthless as this was easily researched.

Hmmm, hijabs may not be mandated in the holey Quranus, but they may be mandated in the ahadith. The entirety of islamic theology is NOT found in the holey quranus, but in the ahadith as well. I believe there is an authentic ahadith that refers to the “believing women” covering everything except their hands and face and whatever muhamMUD says, goes.

You Americans are pikers when it comes to paying off muslims. Our Prime Minister gave a muslim $10.5 MILLION for killing and wounding a couple of your soldiers.
A few years ago in Russia a muslim wearing a burqa was not submitted to a security check at the airport. She had a suicide vest on and blew up the plane in flight.
The critical thing all our courts are refusing to address it that islam is not just a religion but a theocracy, a political movement hence it must be treated totally different from a religion. Our supreme courts must examine islam and refuse to allow many of its rules under shariah law to be used in our societies.

Someone wrot me here he thinks the hijab is mandated in the hadiths if not the Koran. They are not. s I wrote earlier this was a political statement encouraged by Khomeini. In fact, the SHAH’S soldiers frequently tore them off women’s heads.
The judge apparently knew nothing about the history of the hijabds and accepted her ignorant statements as facts. Incidentally, just an aside. the Holy Quran says the land of Israel belongs to the Jews and they are tp be respected along with Christians.The calls to kill Jews came later in the HADITHS hunreds of yeas after Mohammed’s death.
