Talk about bad taste and liberal values gone nose blind: DC’s new Muslim superhero manifests her superpower after declaring herself to be “Isis.”

The cartoon battleground in the jihad war is intense. People have lost their lives drawing cartoons of Muhammad. This is such a serious offense that when ISIS irregulars came to kill Pamela Geller in Texas, the country turned on Pamela. It was all about shaming Pamela for drawing Muhammad, and saying nothing about the killers. Somehow, popular opinion got confused, and thought Pamela Geller was the villain in the story of her attempted assassination. This level of confusion is to be combined with the absolute certainty that you will not draw Muhammad.

Yes, we know this “Isis” is supposed to be the Egyptian goddess. We can tell the difference, but we are beginning to wonder about people who think it is neat to have a Muslim super-heroine declare herself to be Isis after we have seen numerous attacks on artists, and cartoonists by devout Muslims, including those who have declared allegiance to ISIS.
This is supposedly a response to the election of Donald Trump.
“You might have heard there was this election,” said Marc Guggenheim.
“Not to get political, but something that we all gravitated toward in the writers room was making this character Muslim,” he explained.
Nothing too political, you understand. And, so this is what they came up with.
“the Muslim superhero reacts to the rise of populism in 2017 and challenges the other heroes to change history to avoid the future dystopia she comes from.”
So Trump is bad, and a Muslim declaring herself to be Isis is good. This probably won’t cause as much controversy as they think, because we see so much of this in other areas of life. We had eight years of it from Obama. There is so much pandering to Islam these days that a Muslim declaring herself Isis is too coy. If they really want attention, DC should be bold and create superheroes such as “Young Bin Laden,” “Super Hezbollah,” “Hamasman,” and “the Adventures of ISIS.”
The response from the cartooning community, including Charlie Hebdo, to Islamic intimidation of cartoonists has been less than heroic. This offering from DC comes across as downright dhimmi behavior.
TV show adds Muslim superhero in response to Trump’s election – her name is interesting

The executive producer of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” says that part of the motivation for adding a Muslim superhero to the show was the “political climate” after the 2016 election. He made the comments Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills.
“You might have heard there was this election,” said Marc Guggenheim.
“Not to get political, but something that we all gravitated toward in the writers room was making this character Muslim,” he explained.
The new hero will be introduced in the upcoming third season of the show. She is named Zari Adrianna Tomaz, a Muslim computer hacker from the future. Ironically, and rather unfortunately, the superhero is based on a character already introduced in comic books – named “Isis.”
To be clear, the ‘Isis” character is named after the Egyptian goddess of the same name, and not the Muslim extremist terrorist group.
Zaria Adrianna Tomaz will be portrayed by Iranian actress Tala Ashe.
“Representation is a really powerful thing,” said Ashe.
“When I was growing up watching television,” she explained, “I didn’t see anyone who looked like me. When I think of the kid version of myself, I think it broadens your perspective. What I think is so lovely about this show is that the Legends are this tapestry that represent America today.”
In an interview about her character, Ashe says that the Muslim superhero reacts to the rise of populism in 2017 and challenges the other heroes to change history…

I think you are the one who is nose-blind. A Muslim Superhero is calling herself Isis after the Egyptian Goddess, so what? First of all, ISIS or ISIL is a perjorative name the West uses to refer to the group because the military decided that using their chosen group name was showing them too much respect. Second of all, even if they did refer to themselves that way (which they dont) they know the difference between their own organization and an Egyptian Goddess.
Maybe the writers wanted to have diversity on the sow so all their Superheroes were not white men? Thats a really good thing as far as I am concerned. Im sick of heroes always being white and male! Let them be Jewish and Muslim and black and Hispanic and gay and trans and really….any other color or flavor of human there is. Thats who we are!

They didnt make her up, she was already a Superhero in the DC pantheon. She was part of a cartoon in the 70s. They choose to use her because she was Muslim. So what? This is a representative of the destroyed generation. This is group of people who don’t know who they are, don’t know where they are going, don’t know what they are doing, don’t know what sex they are, and don’t know the difference between right, and wrong. If having a Muslim superhero that declares her self to be Isis is who you are, then I suggest having a superhero who practices incest. After all, its who you are. How about a heroin addict superhero? It’s who you are. Why not have a superhero who is mentally defective? It’s who you are. Why not have a racist super hero? Its who you are.
The answer to all these questions is because being a heroin addict is not heroic, being a child molester is not heroic, and neither is a Muslim superhero who declares herself to be Isis. It’s cowardly, and it is pandering, not just to Muslims, but to a generation who is defeated, conquered, and colonized.

I’m a HUGE comic book fan and that show has gone so hard core soap opera that even I don’t want to watch it. This has less to do with the election, Trump and the state of the world than it has to do with trying to get people to watch their show. They make a big deal about a Muslim who becomes an Egyptian Goddess to play the diversity card and DESPERATELY hope that some SJWs will start watching their shows. That’s all this is, a ratings ploy. Blech.

Superheroes have always been a beacon of hope. They fought for truth, justice, and the American way. Superman helped fight Hitler during WWII, he also helped on his radio show to point out to the public the evils of the KKK. Batman has always been a victim of a unpunished crime, therefore he protects the innocent from the same fate. Over time superheroes popped up in many shapes and sizes, some had staying power, some didn’t. Until the Punisher; I believe, superheroes did not kill anyone. Evil doers where brought in to face justice. Somewhere along the line, they stopped fighting against the worlds most elite evils, and became political pawns. Superman landed in Washing D.C. to picketers with NO illegal aliens signs, and booed as if he was unwanted here. The push has been fierce to change characters that we have all grown to know and love, in the name of diversity, instead of creating yet another superhero, so this Isis character is the perfect example of what I’m trying to say, she is new, maybe she has staying power, maybe she don’t. I think the horrific part of all this, is that comics seem to mirror us, and they have gone from wholesome, innocent heroes that fight the good fight, to Superman vs. Batman, and a civil war between Captain America and friends. We are at war with ourselves, and as unreal as this Egyptian Muslim in her skimpy outfit is, this is what we are talking about.

Marvel is really mixing their themes. Even in fantasy land, a character has to make some sense. A scantily clad superheroin as a pagan goddess / devout Muslima makes no sense whatsoever. There is a girl named Isis in my Church, big time Christian. She is going into helping children. She just graduated from high school and was introduced to the congregation with the rest of this year’s class. I felt sorry for her name, she was named way before ISIS existed.

As a footnote, the fictional spy agency in the animated comedy Archer was called I.S.I.S. for the first few seasons. They deliberately got rid of it after the rise of Isis, the terrorist group. Now I guess Isis is IN.

I quit buying or watching DC products or productions a few years ago. Everyone of these writers should be forcibly taken to Iraq and Iran and dropped down in the middle of it and left to fend for themselves…..we’ll see how much they love “ISIS” then.

Isis is an Egyptian goddess of pre-Islamic Egypt. It’s the anti-thesis of Islamist Egypt. It had nothing to do with ISIS or ISIL at all. It is the opposite of ISIS. It mocks the culture of ISIS. It mocks Islam. Just as Wonder Woman does.
If DC Comics does not follow the correct origin of the goddess woman Isis and just puts her in a burka, they will fail. Isis couldn’t be more anti-Islamic if portrayed correctly. Her statement “I am ISIS” Is really saying “They are not ISIS, I AM the goddess ISIS!” If done right, muslims will be offended protest the character.
