A family of alleged extremists are accused of planning an ISIS-inspired plot to bring down a commercial plane by gassing passengers before detonating a bomb made out of a meat mincer.
Story continues below advertisementTwo Lebanese-Australian father and son teams were reportedly the four men arrested after dramatic raids across Sydney on Saturday afternoon.
While the full extent of the alleged conspiracy is not yet known, the men may have planned to detonate a homemade bomb on a flight from Sydney to the Middle East, possibly Dubai, according to Seven News.
They allegedly planned to gas passengers aboard an aircraft in a plan orchestrated by ISIS militants in Syria, The Australian reported.
The paper was told the four, who are all related, allegedly made a ‘non-traditional’ device designed to kill passengers with a sulphur-based gas.
A kitchen mincer is believed to be among the everyday items the alleged attackers used to form a lethal device, according to the Herald Sun.
The apparatus was reportedly ‘ready to go’ as counter-terrorism police stormed properties across the city’s west and inner-east.

Australian Federal Police, ASIO and NSW Police jointly carried out the operation on Saturday in Surry Hills, Lakemba, Wiley Park and Punchbowl.
One of the men was reportedly dragged from his Lakemba home wearing only a towel, while his father was arrested at a property in neighbouring Punchbowl.
The other father and son duo are understood to have been arrested in separate raids.

The former conservative Prime Minister (PM) John Howard invited Lebanese here after the war. HUGE mistake. We now have a joke of a PM Malcolm Turnball (who Trump hung up the phone to) and he too is a ‘conservative’. In fact he has split the conservative party and will lose the next election badly thereby gifting the socialist Labor/Green alliance with 2 x 3 year terms. This country is teetering on the edge anyway and a pro Muslim government will finish it.
100’s of thousand muslims will set sail from Indonesia and Australia will then be lost. Events like the Sydney airport scare will become commonplace and we will eventually submit like France the UK Sweden etc.

And the poor son was only wearing a towel? OOOOOHHH!!! So much easier to chop him up in little pieces and check out how good that meat grinder is. If it’s not any good take it back to Target. I’m not real sure if it is supposed to be cleaned first. You may need to check with the store. I really do thank them for that meat grinder idea. Mix it with some pork and you got a great sausage for those muslims demanding certain foods in prison. They’ll never know it’s pork. They can’t. If they do allah will be upset with them.

I don’t believe a word of it. No one, except govt agencies or those licenced, have the capacity to manufacture explosives. Meat grinder is just steel, and doesn’t matter, but what matters is from where do the suspects get the ingredients which when mixed together, and on ignition, become either incendiary or explosive, for if any of the active ingredients are asked for in a chemical suppliers, the person asking – if not credentialed, is reported.

“Designed to kill passengers with a sulphur-based gas.” What was it – a stink bomb? What kind of sulphur-based gas is deadly in the small quantity that can fit inside a meat grinder? And what a weird container! A meat grinder? Give me a break. And how are terrorists supposed to generate this gas and compress it ? It’s one thing to generate a gas. A highschool student who pays attention in class could generate cyanide gas (which is not sulpher based). Then it is another thing to compress it. And another thing again to have sufficient quantity in a meat grinder of all things to kill a plane load of people all the while the plane’s ventilation system is pumping away.
Something doesn’t add up here. There may well have been some deadly plot, but by the time poorly educated police try to explain it to illiterate journalists, nothing makes sense any more.
