Trump Calls for More Republicans to be Elected as Obamacare Bill Fails in Senate

14

So much for Obamacare repeal-replace — this time around, anyway. A well-watched bill in the Senate went down in flames after a small contingent of Republicans opted against voting for it.

And with the political make-up in the Senate at 52-48, pretty much all Republican hands were needed to push through the measure.

The GOPers who bolted?

Story continues below advertisement

Sens. Jerry Moran of Kansas and Mike Lee of Utah were the late-comers to the naysaying game.

Sens. Mike Lee and Jerry Moran bucked the Republican tide and opted against voting for the Obamacare repeal-replace bill.

Trump said he was blindsided by the defections, especially since he had just hosted a group of GOPers at the White House on Monday evening, and talk of the Obamacare bill’s passage had seemed on track.

“I was very surprised when the two folks came out last night because we thought they were in fairly good shape,” Trump said. “They’re not disloyal; they had their own reasons. They’re going to have to explain to me why they did and I’m sure they’ll have very fine reasons. But we have to get more Republicans elected because we have to get it done.”

Trump said he’d be out and about to help more Republicans — read: less RINOs — elected in 2018, particularly to the Senate where the same bill that just failed, had actually passed in 2015. Then, it was Barack Obama who failed to sign on to it.

Trump tweeted Tuesday of his disappointment.

“We were let down by all of the Democrats and a few Republicans. Most Republicans were loyal, terrific & worked really hard,” he wrote.

He also called for an absolute repeal, immediately.

Notice that the both of those “late-comers to the naysaying game” have common tendency to stick something into their mouth: either pencils or frame of their glasses as above photo clearly shows. What one can say about that notorious habit? That they are so cunning or “smart”? Nay! I would not be surprised if both of them also greatly “enjoy” grinding their own finger nails with teeth. Ugh!

Has Trump forgotten about all the people on the campaign trail who told him they can’t afford the premiums? The bill did NOTHING to lower premiums – it was a bad bill.

The most important Republicans we need to be elected are the ones to replace Ryan and McConnell.

Perhaps Congress should focus solely on the total repeal of Obamacare, and simply let the private markets draft their own health plans. They can provide the options suitable for each individual, or employers who provide coverages. The less government intrusion, the better.

If the RNC is smart they will start cultivating reelection opponents for every obstructionist in Congress, Republican or commiecrat, using their current conduct as campaign ammo. Finance the opponent and leave the incumbent twisting in the wind. Simply use the commiecrat strategy as seen in the GA Sixth District only show a little competence while you are at it.

The Republican Senate leader McConnell has a PAC to do exactly what you describe, except that all its money goes to finance lying ads against Tea Party candidates who believe in the Constitution and who are challenging the disgusting “cross the aisle” Senate RINOs who are loyal to McConnell.

McConnell’s PAC’s ads say the conservative Tea Party constitutionalists are the liberals who want to sell out the nation to the Dems, and the incumbent RINO squirrel-posteriors who have spent their careers selling out to the Dems at McConnell’s behest are the conservatives!

His ads are well funded and highly effective, as well as mendacious, having blocked over the last several election cycles many worthy conservatives from taking Senate seats currently held by RINOs.

Ryno in the House and Meotch McConnell in the Senate keep putting these Obamacare bills together in the dead of night, in complete secrecy, with no consultation with conservative members of their own caucuses. Then they dump them out there, hundreds of pages long, with only minutes or hours for members to review them before the vote. This is very much following in Pelosi’s and Reid’s footsteps.

Their bills have only attempted to rearrange deck chairs on the S. S. Obamacare, years after any fair-minded observer with two brain cells to rub together can see it has already struck the iceberg.

If Mike Lee of Utah bailed on this bill at the last moment, the most likely reason is that Meotch McConnell wouldn’t show him the bill until the last moment, and then Mr. Lee, or someone on his staff, found something in the bill that belied its description as a simple “repeal and replace” bill.

Just like Dems, all Repubs are not the same. Get ride of some Commie RINOs like McConnell and things might change. But I highly doubt it. Politicians do not care about anything but themselves.

Good call! We need more conservatives to actually look at the bad behavior of the left while in power. The corrections of mismanagement has to start somewhere, so start by draining the swamp of idiotic, non-functioning brains in Congress and replacing them with people with a functioning common sense attitude.

The Republicans are in a quandary. If they come up with a bill that makes it more like Obama Care, the conservatives won’t support it. If the bill is less like Obama Care, the moderates won’t support it. I would say let it collapse first and then repeal it. At that point Republicans and Democrats would be forced to come up with a replacement quickly, otherwise no one below 65 will be able to find insurance to replace it if they had it. If it is repealed before it becomes supported by zero insurance companies, the Democrats (and the MSM) will put the blame for any bad consequences on the heads of the Republicans. Doing it the way I suggest would put this blame squarely on the Democrats were it would belong. It is sad that people will have to suffer because of the missteps of the Republicans, and because of the Democrats making a bad bill and then becoming obstructionists to repeal and replace.
