Caudalie French Kiss Balm

I love it when a skin care brands makes a tip toe into make-up. I believe these tinted lip balms from Caudalie have been long in the works, so it’s good to see them in reality.

As you can see, there are three shades. They’re all very lightly tinted so don’t expect any kind of a lipstick effect: these are definitely more balm than tint. The lightest shade, Innocence, is more or less clear, while Seduction has a pink petal hue and Addiction is more berry. The latter two shades do show up in the swatch but it will depend entirely on the base shade of your lips as to how much they will actually colour them. There is a very slightly sweet ‘taste’ to the balms but it’s not overwhelming by any means.

They’re nicely juicy in texture but without a high sheen finish so if you aren’t a glossy fan these will suit you down to the ground. I don’t yet have the full ingredient list, but Caudalie’s USP is polyphenols from grape extracts and of course, this is a key ingredient for the new balms, launching in September. I like packaging – very in keeping with the brand – and I think it’s not a bad buy at all for £10.
