Slavery is sanctioned in the Quran and Muhammad owned slaves. So why shouldn’t Firas Majeed and Shatha Abbas have a slave? But watch for cries that their arrest was islamofauxbic.

San Diego — A handwritten note asking a nurse for help has led to labor trafficking charges against an Iraqi couple who are accused of forcing an Indonesian housekeeper to work without pay in their El Cajon apartment.
Her rescue a few days later is the first time in more than five years the woman, referred to in court documents only as W.M., has been free of indentured servitude, authorities said Friday.

“Today’s arrests bring to light the sad reality of modern day slavery,” Dave Shaw, special agent in charge for U.S. Homeland Security Investigations in San Diego, said in a statement. “… Forced labor, which often involves individuals who are held in isolation, degraded, and most alarming — stripped of their basic human freedom — has no place in a modern society.”
Firas Majeed and his wife, Shatha Abbas, pleaded not guilty in San Diego federal court Friday. They are charged with forced labor, trafficking and confiscating a passport.
The housekeeper pleaded for help in a note to a nurse on March 18, and the note made it to homeland security agents, according to the complaint.
Agents went to the apartment on Mollison Avenue days later on the ruse of an immigration compliance check and spoke to the housekeeper, whose age was not released. Once away from her alleged captors, she explained through an interpreter what her life has been like over the past five years.
She said she sought a job through an employment agency in Indonesia and began to work for an Iraqi man, Dr. Haider Kubba, and his large extended family in Dubai in 2010. She lived with them, working 20 hours a day, seven days a week, for five years, the complaint says.
She cleaned, did laundry, cooked and took care of the children — but was not allowed to leave the house on her own, with the doors and windows being locked while Kubba went to work, she said, according to the complaint. The exception was being allowed to take the trash out, with permission.
The housekeeper said she was never paid for her work, although her employers sporadically sent unknown amounts money to her mother in Indonesia, and some years had passed without payments….

I watched it on Netflix. It looks like now they have dropped it from their lineup. Can’t remember if I streamed it or rented the disc, but I guess it’s a moot point now. It’s a Sally Field movie. She was great. Still is. Gidget goes to Iran.

What a movie we never took notice and a warning call for today.
First time I viewed it was about a year ago.
Another warning was a much older movie staring James Stewart and Doris Day, a oldie by many standards. “The Man Who Knew Too Muuch” Alfred Hitcock movie. The boy in movie unviels Muslim on bus and threatened, only another man saves the day. And later shows how they eat food, and another warning. Looks like movie taken down

Thus complained a Saudi national in Colorado in 2006 who was found guilty of keeping a woman as a slave housekeeper for four years while repeatedly raping her.
Quite a lot of “basic muslim behaviors” are criminal in the West.
Sharia is not compatible or reconcilable with the West.

I hear ya. Seems like I’m seeing more and more individuals here in town getting busted for human trafficking. A lot of them advertise on Craigslist and other websites. Such a shame.

I notice that the Union Tribune neglected to tell us the perps were Muslim and that slavery is Islamic tradition. I think the real phobia is on the left, because they seem too terrified of Islam to tell the truth!

This is pretty common is Saudi Arabia also. A person needs a sponsor to work in the country and the business or individual holds the passport while the hired individual works for them.
This is where the abuse comes in … The individual signs a contract for a certain amount each month for a specific number of years. If the sponsor then changes the job and / or reduces pay or what ever, there is not much the ’employee’ can do else lose the job and have to pay their own way back to the country of origin. Most people doing this tries to take advantage of better pay to support their family back home.
Then they get stuck in a situation they can’t get out of because the persons embassy usually turns the other way and ignores the situation. That is typical of most third world and far east embassies.
The story does not cover when they came to the US, it sounds like it was not long ago as it says most of the five years was before coming to the US. Customs is evidently not checking to closely who accompanies a family and what that status is.

NEVER . He and his followers only accuse the US of having had slavery-even though it was abbolished over 150 yrs ago and nobody in this country is a slave or owned one at present time, and slavery is a crime… But these people who want to feed on black victimhood for their own power, cannot move past that time, while they never mention Islam or SA for sanctioning racism and slavery. Sanders even wants to pay back to AA now-WHO WERE NEVER SLAVES!!! for the institution of slavery that their ancestors suffered. We are to pay for other people’s crimes even though we don’t own slaves and the AA are not slaves!! This is insanity. At the same time they brag about islam and protect it against islamophobia. Slavery was why the South left, even if it wasn’t what the North was fighting for. Lincoln was the Republican candidate, and the Republican platform explicitly included abolition.

slavery was only one of the reasons not the most important though . Slavery only became an issue mid 1863 with Lincoln issuing the anticipation proclamation that freed no one in an effort to revive support for the war . Your great-great-great grandfather would not have joined the war effort in 1862 to free the slaves as it was not an issue .

Once again, what is the problem? Slavery is allowed in islam, so long as the slave is not a muslim, usually. As “W.M” is a possession of her muslim masters in caliph-porn-ya, there is no issue, after all, the residents of caliph-porn-ya wouldn’t want to be called bigots for looking askance at a muslim living freely under shari’a in America.

I’m not sure if it’s disallowed for a muslim to have another muslim as a slave. After all, the woman in the instant matter was Indonesian — where > 90% of the population is muslim (spit).

Quran (8:69) – “But (now) enjoy what ye took in war, lawful and good” A reference to war booty, of which slaves were a part. The Muslim slave master may enjoy his “catch” because (according to verse 71) “Allah gave you mastery over them.” Eevn if they convert to islam, they are still slaves. islam has slavery as a basic tenet.

Taking the woman’s passport was actually a good thing. Next time she leaves the confines of the house to take out the trash run like hell. Falling into the hands of the authorities where she can “spill the beans” works in her favor.

Daily Mail had an article about this case , but it read San DIego couple on its title. When I read it and saw the names, they were not from SD, but muslimes…Misleading title, it didn’t say where they are from, as long as I can remember.. There is a large muslime enclave in SD. One husband killed his wife who was planning to leave him due to abuse. He killed her and set up as if she had been victim of islamophobia… Eventually the police figured it out and I hope the creep is still in jail, for a long time. In his country it would have been ok to kill his wife. I think they were from Iraq and she was much younger than him.
