Load the Press

Load fresh flowers into the press, being carefully they don't touch or they may stick together. For thicker flowers, it is helpful to thin or remove parts that will not be seen once flattened. Pressing takes practice. It is recommended to start with thinner flowers, such as pansies or violas.

Microwave

Do an initial burst in the microwave, following the instruction booklet. Drying times are dependent on the wattage of the microwave and the moisture content of each flower. Drying is done in multiple short bursts, instead of one long burst.

Check the Flowers

Wipe moisture off platens (plastic plates) and carefully open the press to check/touch your flowers, feeling all over. If they are sticky, then they need another burst. Repeat as necessary, letting your press cool if it is getting too hot. If the flowers have a papery feel, but not crispy, then they are dried.

Create

The pressed flowers can be stored for later or used right away in resin jewelry or other projects, cards, framed art, etc. Let your creativity flow!

    Such a unique and easy to use product. I preserve dried flowers in resin and this has been such a time saver. In literally minutes you have a perfectly preserved flower. I always err on the side of caution and microwave the flowers in short bursts of 10-15 seconds and let it cool between the bursts. The device should never get so hot that you can’t touch it. I’ve never had any burned or overcooked flowers doing it this way and it definitely beats pressing them in a book. I can’t wait to buy these as gifts for a few other plant lovers in my life.

    Easy to use dried the flowers in a matter of minutes. Will take some practice to get the positioning perfect but well worth the money spent. Word of advice add a layer of paper towel between the linen and the plants. My first attempt several stuck to the linen and ripped apart when trying to remove them. But once cooled made some really pretty examples of flowers and did not discolor them the way that traditional drying often does. Is great for those bright flowers that fade to pale colors when dried pressed between the pages of an old book. This is the smallest of these particular drying units offered and will be purchasing the larger one in the future but for my first attempt at microwave drying worked really well. I even recommended this to my daughter who homeschooles her children and they are creating a book of wild plants and what their holistic use is. I would recommend to a friend or family member.

    Works great for pressing small flowers and flower petals. Easy to use and clean. Because the instructions are vague, I had to use it several times with several different types of flowers to figure out the duration needed for use in my microwave. I find that the small size works best for small flowers and flower petals. It also works best when using the same type of flower or flower petal. I noticed that mixing different types of flowers in the press at the same time will cause some flowers to "overcook" and others to "undercook". If using the press for the first time, make sure to have some extra flowers to test if possible so you don't mess up the ones you want to use for your project(s). It also helps to heat the flowers and flower petals in increments not longer that 20 seconds at a time. Depending on the flower size I adjust the time from 30 - 60 seconds total cooking time. I start with 15-20 seconds and then gradually do spurts of 5-10 seconds. This way it's less likely to overcook the flowers and they retain their color nicely.

    It worked pretty well for a short time. Some flowers do well in the microfleur, some turn out not nearly as nice as traditional pressing methods. I used it no more than 50 times over the course of 3 months. Sadly, I was pressing a flower in the microwave with this microfleur and there was a burnt smell towards the end. I took it out and saw this scorch mark. The outside stayed together but the pieces of cloth and the thicker material got badly burned. I have no clue why. It was fine before when I’d used it for the same length of time and the same kind of flower (30 seconds). Considering I barely really used it, this is a big disappointment.

I took it out and saw this scorch mark. The outside stayed together but the pieces of cloth and the thicker material got badly burned. I have no clue why. It was fine before when I’d used it for the same length of time and the same kind of flower (30 seconds). Considering I barely really used it, this is a big disappointment.
