There was concern that the average consumer would become more frugal as a result of the crisis. We’d take on less debt, and live more fiscally responsible lives. As if it were a bad thing, to live more within our means. I'm looking at you, Peter Cohen. It's hard not to laugh at some of his conclusions.
Others suggested that wages, standard of living, and jobs would decrease as more companies went offshore to cut costs. They did not take issue with this. They were more fearful of a protectionist political backlash to follow. For them, it was more important for people serve the economy, than the other way around.
Very few seemed to display any sense loyalty to their fellow citizen or country, with Cam Fine a notable exception. He is the true hero here, with a fiery critique of Wall St getting bailed out, while Main St was forgotten. He's the only reason this review isn't a 1-star.
With aristocrats like these, who needs enemies?
