CBO plans to release its updated 10-year baseline projections of federal spending, revenues, and budget deficits on Thursday, March 24. The projections, which will reflect updated analyses and new information obtained since The Budget and Economic Outlook: 2016 to 2026 was issued in January, will be available on CBO’s website at 2:00 p.m. on the day of release.

At the same time, CBO will release a separate document detailing its updated estimates of the budgetary effects of the insurance coverage provisions of the Affordable Care Act and of enrollment through health insurance marketplaces (sometimes called exchanges). Those estimates, which update detailed projections that were released in March 2015, will be reflected in the agency’s new baseline projections.

In addition, each year, CBO works with the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation to estimate the budgetary effects of the changes to spending programs and the tax code proposed in the President’s budget. That analysis of the President’s proposed fiscal year 2017 budget, which will not include the macroeconomic effects of the President’s proposals, will be available on CBO’s website on Tuesday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m. An analysis including macroeconomic effects takes longer to prepare and will be issued later.
