Thank you for asking to receive our newsletter. This is our newsletter #4. See our previous newsletters: #1, May 2008; #2, May 2009 and #3, October 2009. Journals produced by nonprofit organizations, such as Hinduism Today, need the support of significant endowments. Income from subscriptions, advertising and copy sales will barely sustain a shoestring budget. To produce a quality magazine, we need a steady source of funds—which is what the Production Fund provides. As it matures, the fund will allow for great article ideas to be realized, for good writers, photographers and artists to be hired, for reporters to be sent on location anywhere in the world. And it will permit Hinduism Today to establish itself strongly in the realm of digital communications. More than a magazine. Today, the channels for sharing information and ideas are multiplying with supersonic abandon. And Hinduism Today has to keep up. It has to send its precious messages through ever more channels so as to reach people—especially the youth—where their current listening posts are. The familiar printed magazine has become only one of the ways Hinduism Today communicates. This expansion is already highly successful:
The figures are encouraging, and the effort well worthwhile. Next. We now have in the wings: Hinduism Today Facebook, Google Editions (search content of any/all magazines) and, most pointedly, the looming e-books and e-magazines revolution. And yet more will come. Though they have done well so far, the editors feel an urgent need to obtain quality digital tools and hire more trainers and consultants—to do even better today, and prepare for tomorrow's golden opportunities. The fledgling Production Fund is already helping, but it very much needs to grow. Our editors will count on it more and more, as the years go by—to provide the power to broadcast Hinduism's salutary message to hungry souls everywhere. There can be no greater cause. Please consider donating to the Production Fund. |
Meet our gracious Benefactors
The Shailesh Trivedi family
Shailesh Trivedi feels fortunate that Hinduism Today was a part of the family as he was growing up. "It was the perfect teacher. It transformed me, and I cannot imagine my life without it."
The Urmil Shukla family
"We'll continue our support so the magazine becomes widespread and a dominant influence. We want it to be a major player among forces that will shape upcoming generations."
Our goal. In 2009 we launched a project to increase the
Production Fund's
principal by $100,000. This would raise grants to the editors, each issue, by $1,000. It is a modest amount, but will greatly empower the editors.
Please help us realize this goal soon. We invite you to:
