One man's banana is another man's art.

Stephan Brusche, 37, says he started drawing on bananas a few years ago with a ballpoint pen for an Instagram post.

"I was pretty amazed how pleasant a banana peel is to draw on," Brusche, of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, said via e-mail.

Once he started, he continued to push himself, using the shape of the banana in different, clever ways and carving the peel.

He doesn't sell the bananas but has captured the images in a Fruitdoodles wall calendar. A book also highlights his drawings on fruits, including kiwis, oranges and apples in addition to bananas.

So what does he do with the fruit after the artwork is finished?

"When I don't eat them right away once I have a good picture I let them be a bit and then throw them away later on. For me the final product is the picture," Brusche said.
