December 21-25:
Hindu holiday time!

Celebrate, rejoice with your family and friends, decorate the house, fawn over the children, exchange gifts and have a wonderful time. Just let Ganesha be the center of it all. You will love this holiday, the children will love you. And Ganesha will smile on all of you.

Hinduism Today founder, Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, said of Pancha Ganapati, "Winter solstice has always been a festive time among Hindus, and a traditional season for the worship of Lord Ganesha—who is very close and easily contacted at this time. Pancha Ganapati is the Hindu expression of this season of worship, gift-giving and celebration."

During this nearly universal holiday season, Hindu children often wonder why everything is quiet at home while everyone else is celebrating with abandon. It doesn't have to be that way. Traditionally, December solstice has always been a high spiritual time for Hindus and a time to gather together, a family time, to appreciate one another and share gifts.

There are special Pancha Ganapati practices that you can do, one for each of the five days. They are fun, inspiring and quite liberating—and they will bring you into a happy mood just reading them over. Or download PDFs and share them all around.

Or you may wish to skip the practices and keep it all very simple. Just decide to have fun and celebrate in a way that is most enjoyable to you and your family. Be happy, enjoy one another, only simply place Ganesha at the center of it all. Ganesha loves these times of celebration, fun and rejoicing.

If you wish to learn more about this great God, read the best book on him that exists, Loving Ganesha, by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, available from minimela.com or read it online or download it, free.
