Ganesha season coming soon

End of the year is Ganesha celebration time. For many Hindus, the entire lunar month of Margali (Dec. 16 to Jan. 14, this year) is observed as Ganesha festival time. A vow is often taken, to attend Ganesha puja each day for the month, for example. Why? Because, at this time, he is very close and easily contacted. The key time is Pancha Ganapati, a five-day festival which starts at Winter solstice (or Summer if you are in the Southern hemisphere), December 21 thru 25. More.

Hinduism Today goes to Washington

On june 4, publisher of Hinduism Today, Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, gave the opening prayer in the House of Representatives. It was only the third time a Hindu had given the opening prayer at a session of congress. Watch the video and be sure to continue to watch after the prayer and through the pledge of allegiance. Because, right after, Representative Ed Royce gives the assembly a bio of the satguru, his work and the worldwide influence of Hinduism Today. For the past several years, Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami has participated in an interfaith panel discussion in Midland, Texas. This year's event happened on April 17. See the video.
