the two lesson covers
History lessons to be
distributed massively

Regarding the two Hindu history lessons printed by Hinduism Today that we presented in our last newsletter: the Hindu Temple Executives Conference passed a resolution, in September, to blanket the US school system with them. Delegates representing 113 Hindu temples and organizations from North America and the Caribbean unanimously resolved to introduce the two lessons as textbook supplements into 6,000 schools districts in the US . A team of well known movers-and-shakers were appointed as the action team. So, we can expect results and we'll keep you posted.

HINDU HOLIDAY TIME!

"Daddy, why can't we celebrate Christmas?
Why don't we get presents and have
a happy family time like everyone else?"

No, don't break their hearts by saying no. Instead, let them join in the fun the Hindu way. Light up the house with sparkles, share gifts and good times with the children, family, friends and neighbors. December 21-25 is a Hindu festival time, too. It's called Pancha Ganapati.

Hinduism Today founder, Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, launched this holiday some 20 years ago and it has been growing more popular ever since. He said, "Winter solstice has always been a festive time among Hindus especially, and a traditional season for the worship of Lord Ganesha. Hindus often find it difficult to relate to Christmas. Pancha Ganapati is the Hindu expression of this natural season of worship, gift-giving and celebration." Read more about this holiday here.

Manicks with children
Creating a beautiful future for Mauritian kids

Rajan Manick has been teaching Hinduism in Mauritius for 25 years, honing his skills all the while. Today, he is much sought after by people of all ages, including some whom he trains as teachers. "I know of no greater joy than sharing our beautiful teachings," he says. "And I am especially happy to see so many young ones showing a keen interest, lately. The lessons of the Saivite Hindu Religion course we use are marvelous--they distill the key points and capture the children's imagination. Some go home and become teachers to their parents, and some parents come to attend their child's class. It is most rewarding."
