This charming man, indeed.

Morrissey and The Smiths were the soundtrack of my heady twenties. It had slipped my mind until I saw this Facebook post by Morrissey in the wake of the jihad bombing of the Ariana Grande concert.

Story continues below advertisement

This is one of those rare moments when a beloved musician happily surprises you with a poltical statement you can cheer. In this day and age that’s as rare as a unicorn.

Musician and songwriter Morrissey angrily excoriated British politicians following Monday night’s deadly terrorist attack at a pop music concert in Manchester, England, claiming that it is easy for politicians to say they are “unafraid” and to remain resolute while failing to address the root causes of terrorism and hiding behind their own robust security.

In a post to his Facebook page Tuesday, the 58-year-old former Smiths frontman said he was celebrating his birthday in Manchester when news of the terrorist attack broke.
The suicide bombing attack — which occurred at the Manchester Arena following a concert by American pop singer Ariana Grande — claimed the lives of at least 22 people and left dozens more injured, many of them young children.
“The anger is monumental. For what reason will this ever stop?” Morrissey wrote, before continuing to criticize several British politicians, and the Queen of England, by name.
“Theresa May says such attacks ‘will not break us,’ but her own life is lived in a bullet-proof bubble, and she evidently does not need to identify any young people today in Manchester morgues,” the musician said of the British prime minister. “Also, ‘will not break us’ means that the tragedy will not break her, or her policies on immigration. The young people of Manchester are already broken – thanks all the same, Theresa.”
“Sadiq Khan says ‘London is united with Manchester’, but he does not condemn Islamic State – who have claimed responsibility for the bomb,” Morrissey added.
The singer also criticized the Queen for allegedly failing to cancel a party Tuesday at Buckingham Palace, and called out Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham for referring to the terrorist attack as being the work of an “extremist,” and leaving it at that.
“An extreme what? An extreme rabbit?” he questioned.
“In modern Britain everyone seems petrified to officially say what we all say in private,” he concluded. “Politicians tell us they are unafraid, but they are never the victims. How easy to be unafraid when one is protected from the line of fire. The people have no such protections.”
Authorities identified the terrorist who struck Monday night as one Salman Abedi, a 22-year-old British citizen of Libyan origin who had reportedly been known to British security services before the attack. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack on Tuesday.
See Morrissey’s complete statement below.

The Queen receives absurd praise for her ‘strong words’ against the attack, yet she does not cancel today’s garden party at Buckingham Palace – for which no criticism is allowed in the Britain of free press. Manchester mayor Andy Burnham says the attack is the work of an “extremist”. An extreme what? An extreme rabbit?

Agree . Left/liberal corrupt media, politicians will support Islamisation agenda funded by saudis/qatar/OIC.

Like Dems selling out American interests for thousands thrown their way by iranian Lobbyists to support nuke deal http://tinyurl.com/mcake4d

Ban lobbyists from muslim countries as first step to stop the islamonazis.

hell, the Republicans are as much at fault. I’m waiting for even ONE of them to say … “Islam itself is the problem!” until and unless, it’ll continue to spread like the cancer it is. Bush Jr. was a globalist. They’re everywhere. Obama, of course, the devout Muslim he is, did plenty to advance the spread. Hillary, and her sweet Islamic Huma … and it goes on, doesn’t it? We have a lot of hope riding on Trump … we’ll see. some serious action needs to be taken soon.

for some, yes. for many, they’re fast asleep, and wisdom about Islam never comes. It’s right there to be learned and understood in a very short time.

if there were another 100 to 200 semi- to high-profile people who would speak plain language about all this, the people might wake up and rise up … before it’s too late. the clock is ticking down on England, and much of Europe.

absolutely. we are square in their crosshairs. always have been. I figure they’re saving the big fish — a well armed one — for last. they’re well entrenched here. hell, we had a Muslim president. I think they’re going to get a fight here. and it is nothing less than the survival of Western civilization — of civilization itself — at stake.

There’s probably many who would like to, but remain silent out of fear.

That is indeed a surprise coming from a musician. Too bad, he’s still in the minority. But, it’s a start. Ms Ariana Grande would have scored some major humanitarian points if she had stuck around and gone to personally visit some of the victims in the hospital. Or if she had forfeited the money she earned from the Manchester concert to help pay for medical expenses, burials, etc. Not doing that just places her in the selfish, out of touch celebrity category

She is coming back to do a second concert to raise money for the families of the victims. Haven’t heard any details as of yet. It is at least a decent gesture if nothing else.

A ‘decent gesture’ perhaps. However, she now has to live with the fact (if she even has a conscience), the statements she made how she hates America and wished her fans dead…….

I’m surprised he’s still living in the United Kaliphate, I always got the feeling that rawk stars left the UK as soon as they had sufficient funds to do so. I hope he’s not arrested for islamofauxbia.

This would be the same Morrissey who wrote ‘Margaret on the Guillotine’ (i.e. Margaret Thatcher), a song which appears on his debut solo album ‘Viva Hate’. He may have forgotten Tony Blair’s policies on immigration, but I haven’t.

Good on him.
As a musician myself, I’m sick of other musicians being appeasers………just to maybe sell an extra couple of downloads………….or get a ‘like’ from a muslim on facebook.

The answer is imminently that people need to protect themselves however they can as our governments fail us. Leaders who are truly exemplary of the term must be elected and supported and traitors rooted out and made to pay.
