Harvard Smears Virtually Every Site That Isn’t Hard-Left, Including The Geller Report and Jihad Watch, As “Fake News”

113

[the_ad id=”87125″]

The Daily Caller reported Friday that “a list of ‘fake news’ websites recommended to students by Harvard University labels almost every leading center-right website as an illegitimate source of news.” Indeed: it’s clear that Harvard’s list is intended not to warn people away from hoax news sources and stories, but to demonize, stigmatize and marginalize the perspective of the half of the American electorate that American electorate that voted for Donald Trump.

The Daily Caller report continued: “The Daily Caller, The Drudge Report, Breitbart News, The Washington Examiner, The Washington Free Beacon, Independent Journal Review (IJR), The Blaze and The Weekly Standard are all on the list, deemed illegitimate for reasons such as ‘clickbait,’ ‘bias,’ or ‘unreliable.’” It added: “Liberal news sources like BuzzFeed, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, Vox.com and Salon aren’t on the list.” What a surprise!

Story continues below advertisement

“The list,” said Peter Hasson of the Caller, “compiled by Merrimack College associate professor Melissa Zimdars, is recommended to students as part of a Harvard library guide on ‘Fake News, Misinformation, and Propaganda.’” Hasson quite correctly noted that “liberal journalists have struggled to come up with a concise definition of ‘fake news,’ even as they declare war on it. Some liberal journalists have lumped in legitimate news organizations with objectively false websites, leading to concerns that a crackdown on ‘fake news’ will be used by liberals to silence their conservative counterparts.”

Exactly so. There are real fake news sites on the Harvard list, sites that publish wholly false or unsubstantiated stories simply as clickbait in order to generate revenue. But to add to them The Daily Caller, The Drudge Report, Breitbart News, The Washington Examiner, The Washington Free Beacon, Independent Journal Review (IJR), The Blaze, and The Weekly Standard (Never-Trump hysteric Bill Kristol must be climbing the walls over that one), as well as Judicial Watch, The Geller Report, FrontPage Magazine, Jihad Watch and others makes the agenda clear: Harvard, and the Leftist intelligentsia in general, is trying to stigmatize and marginalize every point of view except its own.

Merrimack College’s Melissa Zimdars and those who take her list seriously at Harvard and elsewhere apparently think that if they call every perspective they dislike “fake news,” they will be able to destroy the influence of such perspectives, and attain the hegemony of their own point of view. The only problem with this is that their own point of view contains so many obvious falsehoods and fallacies (Islam is a religion of peace, poverty causes terrorism, etc.) that it will continue to falter at the bar of reality, and people will continue to look to these so-called “fake news” sites for the truth.

Note also that Zimdars labels my own news and commentary site on jihad activity in all its forms, Jihad Watch, as “Unknown.” This classification she explains thusly: “Unknown (tag unidentified): Sources that have not yet been analyzed (many of these were suggested by readers/users or are found on other lists and resources). Help us expand our resource by providing us information!” So a site that purports to identify “fake news” relies on unsubstantiated rumor, hearsay and innuendo to make its classifications. Doesn’t that make Zimdars’ Harvard-endorsed list a quintessential example of…fake news?

This list is just another example of an increasingly obvious fact: in the United States, the Left has come a long way from the Free Speech Movement of the Sixties. As a movement today it is frankly authoritarian, intolerant of dissent, and increasingly intent on demonizing and destroying its opponents, rather than engaging them in rational debate. Liberal journalist Kirsten Powers, author of The Silencing: How the Left is Killing Free Speech, recalls that when she was growing up, “I can’t remember anyone ever suggesting that conservative views were illegitimate and unworthy of debate.”

Now, however, the disparagement of conservative views as beneath serious consideration, and even worse, as manifestations of the moral evils of “bigotry” and “racism” is routine and virtually universal on the Left. The primary response on the Left to the positions enunciated by conservatives is not rational discussion of why the conservative views are wrong and would be bad for society, but moral outrage coupled with ridicule.

The transformation of the Left from champion of free speech to its relentless enemy has been swift: Powers was born in 1969. Why it changed so utterly is unclear, but there is no doubt that the international Left has never been a friend of the freedom of speech. Whenever radical Leftists have taken power, from eighteenth-century France to twentieth-century Russia, China, Cambodia and so many other places, they have begun their rule with a reign of terror that has targeted many or all of the opponents of the new regime. Dissent is outlawed; dissenters are silenced. Conservative activist David Horowitz, a former Leftist, has argued that the Left is inherently authoritarian, to the extent that any Leftist regime will move to crush dissent.

This is generally because as Leftists envision establishing a truly just society on earth, those who oppose them are inevitably stigmatized as morally evil, and consequently are accorded as little tolerance as the medieval Roman Catholic Church gave to those it considered heretics. No less a luminary than St. Thomas Aquinas argued that because the Catholic state had to be concerned with the moral and spiritual wellbeing of its people, as well as their material condition, heretics were enemies of the state, and thus were deservedly executed.

The modern Left, in a similar vein, so closely identifies its agenda with all that is good, that it considers those who oppose its imperatives to be beyond the pale of reasonable discourse and decent human beings. The foes of the Left must therefore be shouted down, discredited, and destroyed altogether. Harvard is busy doing just that.

harvard is now the equivalent of a store front community college in a seedy old shopping centre, that like harvard, has had its best before days long gone. Attracts only students that are too stupid to do anything but absorb liberal socialist convulsions, then suffer for years paying back student loans for useless indoctrination.

Harvard’s a fake college. Why? Because with enough money, a student simply buys his/her way through to obtain any kind of a degree they want.

It was probably part of the package to support him.As we know, they don’t “donate ” as we know it. They invest or buy into —expecting a return–usually a platform for propaganda, a power in selection processes and policy making http://www.campus-watch.org/article/id/4600 Percy Sutton accused Obama of being funded to Harvard by the Saudis. Was that ever resolved ?

Erica:
Yes. I am referring to the same payments that Percy Sutton referred to. The ‘donation’ appears to have been a way to get Obama into Harvard Law. Normally, applicants had to score in the top 0.0 1% on the LSAT test to get into Harvard Law. Obama is too dumb for that. He has an IQ of about ~120. That’s better than the average (100), but not as good as other Harvard Law applicants.

While I understand your commentary to Spencer’s article, I do not believe this is actually about Harvard. This is about the Left’s inability to appropriately deal with the fact that “we the people…” duly elected Donald Trump to the presidency and rejected the Democrats. They are still in such shock that they are badmouthing Trump whenever and wherever they can. Their negative commentary and refusal to even give Trump a chance to run this country from the perspective of a chief operating officer, instead of the approach taken over many years to run the government from the political power concept and for the insiders only, which we have seen has almost brought this great country to its knees, is realistically what this article is all about. Today, the liberal news media continues to run demeaning so-called stories such as that foreigners will not come here to visit because they are afraid, and the liberal news media claims that is all because of Trump. That is such nonsense that I will not even read that article, as to do so, would be tantamount to my concluding that there is substance to such nonsense. The continuing attempt by the Left to be smudge anything or anyone who does not fully accept their claims is becoming sickening to me. They refuse to see the reality and will not give any credit to what and how Trump is trying to save this country. So far, he has done nothing but act to protect its citizens, save a failing health care system, rebuild a wholly inadequate military, restore our borders, reject administrative rules that are choking our industry, promoting the return of American companies, etc. and all the Left does is find manufactured negatives to throw at Trump. Furthermore, the Democratic politicians are all about negative comments as well, and I have lost total respect for a party that I thought was once considered reasonable, as now it appears that they care little about “We the people…,” and it appears to me it’s all about retention of power. What this country actually needs is a timeout to gather ourselves, rethink what is actually happening and band together, relearn how to compromise to save the free world. Unless we do that soon, our youth and future generations are going to be left with a Cesspool of problems.

Part of the problem is people tend to read headlines, skim articles and form opinions in a very short time. The acting impression is what counts. Once an idea is implanted, the potential of it growing and influencing others thoughts and ideas is ver strong. harvard, by allowing its name to be associated with cult ignorance, has tarred itself with the same brush.

I would agree with you. Today the ACLU and Obama’s “lawyers” are being used to promote more of what I refer to as “manufactured headlines,” all of which is intended to besmirch Trump and his administration. I am sick of that type of conduct, as it accomplishes nothing, although you are right that those out there who only see the headlines and are unfortunately incapable of reasoning and concluding that this conduct is Obama’s Democrats and the media’s continuing attempt to continue their attack on Trump’s legitimate election victory. I know that Trump is not perfect, and I ask who is, but he is our president and he should be respected and given the opportunity to help this nation. Unless the Democrat’s come to that same conclusion the smear tactics will continue unabated. When will this country come to its senses? Even some of the Republicans are failing to recognize that they must band together and defeat those who refuse to accept what those of us within the reasonable and right thinking electorate determined was in our best interest to save this nation, and that was rejection of the Democratic hand out philosophy and the acceptance of seeing our government run efficiently while protecting its citizens..

Harvard declaring “FAKE NEWS”? Let’s check out their “FAKE ELITISM”…

According to the HARVARD student and athlete applicant guide (from their web-site), “Harvard rejects literally hundreds of candidates with 1400-plus SAT scores… in favor of students with LESSER academic achievements… 90% of each class is comprised of students who meet a combination of factors, including intellectual ability, UNUSUAL ATTRACTIVENESS of PERSONALITY, outstanding capacity for leadership, creative ability, athletic ability, maturity and motivation for a liberal arts education and GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION.”

TRANSLATION: One does not “compete” to get to Harvard… one is “appointed” as a like-minded Liberal, willing and able to follow the globalist agenda. The HARVARD “success rate” (whatever that is) does NOT disproportionately exceed non-Ivy League schools with similar student demographics, and NEVER DID.

Oh, yes, and don’t forget- “8 out of 10 Harvard students graduate with honors and half receive A’s”, as “Evaluation systems have students grade professors, thereby providing an incentive for teachers to go easy on their future evaluators.” (USA Today 2/7/2002)

And… there’s this little “gem” from CBS-
“Catholic Church Condemns Black Mass Reenactment At Harvard University By Katie Brace (WBZ-TV May 8, 2014 9:51 PM) “ … “The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is hosting the Satanic Temple from New York. The Black Mass is scheduled for Monday night in the basement of Memorial Hall.”

And these “elites” now ascertain “Fake News”, eh?”

Colleges, since Carter, have been paying for every minority student that receives a degree. Doesn’t matter if the student actually EARNED that degree, just as long as the college or university gives the minority a degree, the U.S. government gives the college or university a large check. It goes back to a plan to “fast track” minorities. When I worked for a Fortune 100 company, we had minorities come to work there who could barely speak English and most certainly were not Engineers. Yet, they had a degree from Harvard, Princeton or any other college. Our society is killing itself while trying to make others feel good about themselves. It could also be a continuation of the communist manifesto. Whatever it is, some people have to realize they are just oxygen wasters.

When islam started, muslims had no country. Today muslims have 50 countries. This means on average, muslims take over 1 non-muslim country every 28 years. Even as your are reading this, muslims are trying to take over non-muslims, all over the world —

– Muslims are trying to take over india’s kashmir right now
– Muslims are trying to take over china’s xinjiang right now
– Muslims are trying to take over burma’s rakhine state right now
– Muslims are trying to take over israel’s palestine right now
– Muslims are trying tying to take over philippines’s mindanao right now
– Muslims are trying to take over kurds’s kurdistan right now
– Muslims are trying to take over russia’s chechnya right now
– Muslims are trying to take over thailand’s south thailand right now
– Muslims are trying to take over maghreb right now

And many more. Muslims are in development mode accross europe as well – Muslims do not assimilate. As a result, muslim zones and muslim colonies have started forming and growing inside european nations, that prefer to live according to the islamic way. When the muslim population rises from 5% to 35% in these nations, one can easily imagine what will happen. Even at 20%, muslims will start demanding separate muslim colonies all over europe, where they are concentrated. Conflict would start growing, and so will the attacks, which would be seen as ‘internal conflict’. And eventually, non-muslim governments will tire of all the fighting and let go – Like soviet already did when it collapsed. Many separate muslim countries were created because of it. The same will then happen all over europe. Lest we forget – The entire middle east was non-muslim. Today it is muslim.

More and more people are realizing that all the left are interested in doing is NAME-CALLING TO SHUT DOWN DEBATE because they do not have any real arguments. Just like Hillary’s campaign.
Shocking to see Harvard is a part of that – no longer the premier place for ideas; one wonders now if it ever was, or just coasting on reputation and foreign money.
FOREIGN MONEY! Hardly are those words out when a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi troubles my sight …

Harvard university is guilty of covering up crimes committed by Muslims to appease islam. Therefore Harvard is complicit in aiding and abetting extreme islamists in carrying out there crimes against humanity.
To ignore crime is a crime in itself.

What crimes have they covered up? If they have, why haven’t you notified the police?

By blacklisting Pamelageller.com they are complicit in covering up crimes by Islamists. It’s called logic.

Anything coming out of Harvard today for public consumption has very little credibility. What a shame.

After reading this I can safely say that after attending a little ol’ cow college in the hills of West Texas, I’m just as smart as the typical Harvard graduate. I dropped my subscription to Weekly Standard because of their leftward drift.

Since the mixed multitude took over Harvard in the 1960s it has become a pay for a degree setup. The academic standard has the level of a good grade school. They are on Native land and need to close their doors and return that land to its rightful owners.

Sad that old, once venerable Harvard University, has itself become a fake. It is no longer a bastion of higher learning, but a center for indoctrination of Leftist dogma. They don’t even bother to try to hide their Marxist leanings anymore. They’re proud of what they’ve become: Un-American.

Harvard University was founded in 1636 with the intention of establishing a school to train Christian ministers. In accordance with that vision, Harvard’s “Rules and Precepts,” adopted in 1646, stated (original spelling and Scriptural references retained):
2. Let every Student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the maine end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life (John 17:3) and therefore to lay Christ in the bottome, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and Learning. And seeing the Lord only giveth wisedome, Let every one seriously set himself by prayer in secret to seeke it of him (Prov. 2:3).

3. Every one shall so exercise himselfe in reading the Scriptures twice a day, that he shall be ready to give such an account of his proficiency therein, both in Theoreticall observations of Language and Logick, and in practical and spiritual truths, as his Tutor shall require, according to his ability; seeing the entrance of the word giveth light, it giveth understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130).Harvard Motto?….
Now,God is out of the picture and their motto is simplified to one word VERITAS (Verity” or “TRUTH” !! And is that what is being sought by the students being “educated” there? Yeah, right.

► Pamela Geller’s plumb crazy anyhow – raised from birth, like her parents before her, to hate Moslems and drive them all from her State

Certainly no journalist, but a skilled and clever provocateur if ever there was one

I don’t know this Spencer guy yet

Gee, why would the kafir al najjis hate moslems allahtard? Maybe because your damned, dumb, Jew hating death cult calls for the extermination, subjugation or enslavement of anyone not-a-muslum as is demonstrated in every, last one of your sh!ttystans today?
