J’Accuse Gloria Steinem

Vogue is trembling with excitement.

Everyone is just agog and atwitter over Gloria Steinem’s new series for Vice on “brave women.” Vice has produced Gloria Steinem’s new series on “how violence against women drives global instability,” and it contains not one word about sharia, gender apartheid, sex slaves, or women marked for death by Islamic fatwas right here in America — in other words, not a word about Islamic law.

Vogue enthuses:

Woman’s eight-episode first season will air weekly and, per the show’s log line, will explore “how violence against women drives global instability.” As Steinem declares in a lead-in that airs at the top of each episode, “I’ve traveled the world as a writer and an activist my entire life, and I can tell you that by confronting the problems once marginalized as women’s issues, we can tackle the greatest dangers of the 21st century. Behind every major crisis, there’s an unseen factor at play, there’s a story you’ve never been told. The greatest indicator of the world’s stability, wealth, and safety is the status of women.”

How do you do a show on the status and safety of women in the world and not mention the brutal sharia, the gender apartheid under Islamic law? On the contrary, she goes to extraordinary lengths to omit and censor it.

“In the first episode,” Vogue informs us, “we follow journalist Isobel Yeung to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where she chronicles a terroristic culture of violent sexual assault that’s persisted even since the official end of war in 2003.” Not one mention in the whole of the article about jihad or sharia.”

How can you do a story on the Democratic Republic of the Congo without mentioning jihad? It is at epidemic levels. Women and children in the Congo are under siege. Bishops denounced a “climate of genocide” and the passivity of the Congolese State and international community. They are being hacked to death. “Does the situation have to deteriorate even more before the international community takes measures against jihadism?”

Gloria was there, but Gloria is blinded by her own dogma. Gloria’s show went to the Congo and saw no jihad, heard no jihad and spoke no jihad. How does Steinem do a story on women (and children) in the Congo without mentioning the Muslim Defense International, which in its most recent attack on May 3, targeted women and children? What about an expose on the “sickening” sexual abuse of Congolese and CAR women and children by U.N. officials and peacekeepers? Steinem and her ilk would sooner take the gas-pipe than criticize the UN.

These feminazis have a wall up way bigger than the one Trump wants to build.

Gloria Steinem rose to fame by going undercover to work as a bunny at the Playboy Club; she exposed the boorish atmosphere at “gentlemen’s clubs.” What bravery! What an expose! What nonsense. She knew it would get millions of eyes, for all the salacious reasons she purported to despise. It was muckraking at its worst, and belonged in the National Enquirer. Instead, it catapulted Steinem to the firmament of feminist iconography.

Steinem’s undeserved fame is matched only by the absurdity of the respect she garners, even after she says things such as: “[Muhammad] in his day, he was a reformer on a lot of issues for women.” (Bill Maher show, February 2016)

Yes, Gloria, polygamy, sex slaves, female genital mutilation (FGM), etc.

Or when the biggest feminist icon in the world says about Bernie Sanders’ popularity with young women: “And, when you’re young, you’re thinking, where are the boys? The boys are with Bernie…”

Now this: a pointless series that takes no chances and ignores the real issues, all while being heralded by the shapers and influencers. This is the blind leading the deaf and the dumb.

Imagine the good that Gloria Steinem could do. Instead, she covers for the most brutal and misogynist ideology on the face of the earth. Steinem takes the coward’s way out. Why? She’s 82; she’s not long for this world. She has no children. What risk is there for her, except that it might tarnish her now-worthless legacy?
