Garrett McCord was trained in pastry kitchens throughout the Sacramento area before leaving the kitchen to get a Master's Degree in composition and rhetoric with a focus on food writing. Garrett's writing and recipes have appeared in numerous online and print publications for the last 15 years, culminating in numerous best-selling books and cookbooks. Garrett's books and cookbooks including Melt: The Art of Macaroni and Cheese, Stewards of Spirits, and Examining the Exclusionary Rhetoric of the Slow Food Movement's Recipes and Literature. Garrett has been contributing to Simply Recipes since 2006. He currently works as a freelance writer, grant developer, arts activist, and legislative specialist.
