Trade In Your ‘Old And Tired’ Android Phone And Apple Will Give You Credit For A New iPhone

Apple isn’t content with setting sales and profits records off the backs of its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones (Apple sold over 74 million iPhones during Q4 2014, and recorded profit of $18 billion for fiscal Q1 2015). The company is now going directly after Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone users by enticing them to trade in their devices for a brand spankin’ new iPhone at Apple retail stores.

Apple has offered a trade-in program that allows you to trade in an hand over an old iPhone for credit towards the purchase of a new model since 2013, but this is the first time that the company has opened up the offer to customers with competing smartphones. For now, there are no specific guidelines from Apple on how the program will operate, but it should be a no-brainer that the better condition the device is in, the more money you’ll receive.

Apple is likely never to give you as much money as a comparable-generation iPhone (Apple doesn’t think too highly of the competition, after all), and you’d likely fetch an even higher price by simply tossing the device up on eBay, the Amazon Marketplace, or Craigslist. But for people that simply want an “easy out” when it comes to getting rid of their smartphone, it may be an attractive option.

According to The Verge, Brightstar has always run Apple’s trade-in program, and the company will continue that partnership with non-Apple smartphone trade-ins.
