Best of luck - your photography tips have helped me SO much! Will you be recording the session and maybe including recorded highlights in future blogs or on YouTube for those of us who can't make it? Wish I had an up-to-date passport!
Thanks for the wonderful comments. I'm not quite a guru but I have learned many things the hard way with help from others. So I am just passing them on.
No Pat, we aren't going to be recording the session! Wish you could come too.

Does having to photograph jewelry give you grief? You're not alone. Photographing jewelry is something most of us never bargained for when we start selling jewelry, promoting tutorials and workshops online.... and blogging! It needn't be so excruciatingly painful.

The passage of this blog is also a log of my own progress as an amateur jewelry photographer - from the very first awful pictures to much better and more recent photographs. The journey has made a profound difference to my own attitude. In the beginning, I was ignorant of anything other than just pressing the button but as I got better, I began to enjoy photography and can now say it is another creative hobby.
I've learned from reading, trial and error and most of all from Lex McColl, the professional product photographer behind the Modahaus tabletop studios I use today. I've shared Lex's tutorials, my acquired knowledge and sometimes fumbling experiments in jewelry photography in many blog posts.
The presentation is free to all members and first time attendees. The society charges $5 for non-members. Bring a pen and paper to jot down notes.
There will be a range of photo accessories on display. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own cameras for the discussion afterwards.
What I will cover :
Why good photographs matter
Why jewelry is so hard to photograph
Types of Cameras and Ease of Use
6 Must Know Basic Camera Tips
Camera Settings You May Not Know About
Diffuse and Reflect the Light
Light Tents and Photo Studios

Quick Tips
Branding
Many photographs will be used as examples.
