Thank you for the opportunity to win these fabulous beads, and congrats to Jana! Looking forward to the next giveaway. Cheers and a happy and safe 4th. Cathy Barron
Ecuador is a gorgeous country, from tropical Pacific seashore to the jungle and up to its impressive mountains. My husband and I lived in Quito for over 5 years and loved the city and its beautiful and friendly people. I also loved shopping there as they make so many wonderful handmade items, from soft woven textiles to gorgeous ceramics. My only regret is that we never made it out to the Galapagos Islands. :(
Hi Pearl! I attended a couple of classes with you in Dartmouth when I lived in Halifax. I retired a few years back, and now live high up in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador, and also love designing with tagua nuts! Lovely prize for the winner!
Really? You're in Ecuador now? How amazing is that? Lucky you to be able to experience the Andes and have tagua nuts easily available!

Isn't it wonderful there are so many chances to win the beautiful elephant friendly tagua beads? The giveaway last week from Ecuadorian Hands certainly interested a number of people. The beads are natural, lightweight and colorful!

One reader asked if the nuts can be colored. Yes, in their natural state, tagua beads are easily dyed and carved. But note the beads the winner will be getting have already been cut, dyed and polished up by the folks at Ecuadorian Hands.
Most of us have never been to Ecuador but one reader has! Wayne Wiley said, "I am a big fan of tagua nuts having collected tagua carvings for many
years now. It's a wonderful renewable source of "ivory". We visited a
factory in Ecuador recently and got to see them making the carvings and
the buttons. We were amazed at the pod that covers the nuts (really
ugly)."
I would like to thank all the readers who said how much they liked my tagua pendant. Cath Thomas wrote, "I love this pendant It makes me think of Isis horns with solar disc or
the Lunar disc, both ancient Egypt gods attributes. Thank you for
sharing the creation process!"
Tagua beads are really lovely to work with and to wear. So one lucky reader is the lucky recipient of a big batch of them. I numbered all the eligible entries and headed to random.org. The random number generator picked the number belonging to Jana! Congratulations!
