Walgreens Shopping Trip
2 Suave Body Lotion at $3 – On Sale Buy 1 Get 1 50% off (2/$4.50)
Used 2 $1.50/1 coupon from the 11/17 RedPlum insert
Buy 2 – Get 2,000 points (like $2)3 Purex (33 loads) Laundry Detergent at $5.99 – On Sale Buy 1 Get 2 Free
Used $1.50/2 printable (no longer available)1 M&M’s – $0.99 (filler – This was supposed to be $0.58. The manager had already been called up front twice for my coupons and I was in a hurry so I just decided to let it go. I’ll stick it in my Christmas gift stash.)
Used $4.50 Register Rewards from previous shopping trip
Total before coupons, sales and Register Rewards: $25.78
Total with tax ($0.82) after coupons, sales and Register Rewards: $3.30
Gretchen’s Walgreens Shopping Trip: $25.78 worth of products for $3.30 out of pocket
If you don’t have Register Rewards, you can break this into 2 transactions to not spend as much out of pocket. Buy the Suave Lotion in Transaction #1 and Purex in Transaction #2. Redeem the 2,000 points (earned in your first transaction) in your second transaction. Your total out of pocket would be $3.99 plus tax.

At my walgreens you can only use one coupon on the purex B1 G2. You cannot use a coupon on freebies
Lisa says
Originally, when then plan was first introduced, points could only be spent when 5,000 points were on the rewards card. That has since been changed. You can now redeem them in 1,000 point intervals as well. (1,000+$1.00)
Monica says
Thank you for clarifying that. I guess you just have to ask the cashier. I have about 4,000 points and I have never been asked if I’d like to use them or not during checkout.
Kari Cooper says
I thought you could only use points in $5 increments.. ?
Sheesha says
I was told it takes 3-5 days after purchase for points to be on card
Gretchen says
Actually they show up on your receipt right away and you can use them right away. I have done this multiple times and never had an issue.
Debbie says
Me too.
Haely says
Sorry, I don’t shop Walgreens much but to my knowledge you can’t use points unless they are 5000 or more.
Gretchen says
They have changed their policy and now allow you to redeem points starting at 1,000 points. I do this all the time and have never had a problem. I hope that helps.
