Valerie emailed this in and I enjoyed reading it so much, that I asked permission from both Valerie & Dana if I could share it on my blog:
I wanted to tell you a funny story that happened to me and another reader of yours. I was out at Trivia Night with a group of friends including my very pregnant friend, Dana.
At one point I looked over at her and noticed she was writing some numbers down. I later realized she was timing her contractions! They were 5 minutes apart.
She asked the waitress for her bill then in between contractions asked the waitress if her coupon was valid! I told her Money Saving Mom would be so proud of her. 🙂
An hour and half later, she was the mom of a perfect little boy. I thought you should know how your website affects us and makes us think about saving money even when we’re in LABOR! 🙂
Thanks for all that you do! -Valerie

What a relaxing way to labor!
I was waiting for things to progress with my 3rd child, so I decided to squeeze in 1 more coupon shopping trip. Once I finished my trip at ShopRite, I headed to the doctor’s office. I was 9.5cm! I rushed to the hospital and 30 minutes later I was holding my beautiful, healthy baby girl!

I spent much of my labor for my now 11 year old shopping at a Costco an hour away from the hospital. Sadly I don’t think I used any coupons though. lol. When I got home I ate a bagel and then headed to the hospital. I was 7cm when I got there. They broke my water and he was born about an hour later. So much better than the first time when I spent hours laboring in a hospital bed!

A few years ago when my son was born, as we were backing out of the driveway to head to the hospital as I was in active labor. I had my husband stop the car at our mailbox and asked him to put a bill in the mailbox before we left. I knew that I wouldn’t be home for a few days and didn’t want the bill to be late. My husband thought it was so funny that I thought to grab that envelope as we were headed out the door with so much else on my mind!

That’s great! I had my 4th child this May and had planned on bringing along my coupon binder to organize while I was waiting for things to progress but only an hour after my water broke, my beautiful son was in my arms. I went home 24 hrs. later, which probably resulted my biggest savings ever!

What a cute story! After being sent home from the hospital dilated 4 cm with my second child, I spent the evening baking. All day in the hospital all I could think about was the produce at home that would go bad if I was really in labor. When my water broke at midnight, I packed up still-warm strawberry muffins and banana bread for the nurses in the maternity ward.

lol. Good for her! No point in sitting at the hospital having contractions. Might as well wait for a bit.
I went grocery shopping in labor. Hey, we needed food. It was shopping day and there was no food in the house. I’m sure I used coupons too but it was 15, almost 16 months ago, so can’t really remember.

Classic! A couple of days after I had my little boy I left him home with daddy to go coupon! 🙂 Yes, we are obsessed aren’t we!

Haha! AWESOME! Why waste time at a hospital when you can just have a nice dinner with friends? Way to go, momma!
