Democrats Block Witnesses From Testifying in House Intel Probe

28

Democrats in the House are doing what they do best — opposing — and blocking as many witnesses as possible from coming forward to tell in Capitol Hill testimony what they know about Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

Adam Schiff has been leading the charge for Democrats in blocking Republican witnesses.

Staffers in Congress said one of the witnesses, an informal adviser to Carter Page, one of President Donald Trump’s campaign officials, was supposed to speak before a House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. But Democrats stalled the testimony, saying they needed more time to prepare.

The Washington Free Beacon has the story:

Story continues below advertisement

“‘He’s the guy that many Democrats have been pointing to as the supposed mastermind and you would think they were interested hearing his story,’ said one Capitol Hill official.”

It’s Rep. Adam Schiff, the chief Democrat on the committee, who’s leading the charge to stall testimony.

Again, from the Free Beacon:

“Schiff has asserted in the past that evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign is “more than circumstantial,” contrary to other intelligence and congressional oversight members who have said there is no evidence.

“On Sunday, Schiff appeared to back off his earlier comments somewhat. Pressed on ABC News to explain the nature of the evidence of collusion, the lawmaker said: “Well, I think there is evidence. I can’t go into the particulars of our closed investigation. But I also think there is also evidence of obstruction. But in both cases, I would say, whether there is some evidence doesn’t mean there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt.”

“Schiff was referring to obstruction of justice charges against President Trump. His mention highlights a new tactic adopted by Democratic critics of the president regarding the Russian investigation: playing down charges of alleged collusion while playing up claims of a cover up.

“Schiff was referring to obstruction of justice charges against President Trump. His mention highlights a new tactic adopted by Democratic critics of the president regarding the Russian investigation: playing down charges of alleged collusion while playing up claims of a cover up.

“The same people that say that there’s no evidence of collusion say there’s no evidence of obstruction,” Schiff said Sunday, noting claims presidents cannot be charged with that crime. “I don’t buy that,” he said.

“Schiff told ABC that the allegations of collusion are focused on Russian hacking of private emails and making them public, and that Russians were working with Trump campaign staff and coordinated the influence operation. “But I’m not prepared to say that there’s proof you could take to a jury,” he said. “But I can say that there is enough that we ought to be investigating.”

“Schiff was not asked about why witnesses have not appeared before the panel but said the committee is “far closer to the beginning of the investigation than we are to the end”—suggesting Democrats plan to draw out the probe for many months.

“The FBI has been investigating charges of Russia-Trump campaign collusion since July, based in part on a controversial private intelligence dossier produced by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele.

“Many of the dossier’s claims, including charges that Page met with Russians intelligence figures, have been debunked.

“In addition to Page, the House wants to hear from several current and former intelligence and law enforcement officials, including fired FBI Director James Comey and Adm. Mike Rogers, director of the National Security Agency.

“Paul Manafort, who served for a time as Trump’s campaign manager, also has said he is willing to testify before the House panel. Another figure in the controversy, former Trump adviser Roger Stone, also expressed an interest in testifying in a public hearing in March.

“Page, however, was the only witness who had been scheduled to appear before Democrats blocked the testimony.

“The House committee is also investigating whether the Obama administration improperly requested the unmasking of Americans’ identities that were kept secret in classified transcripts of communications intercepts.

“On May 31, the committee subpoenaed records from the FBI, CIA, and NSA related to requests for the identities of Americans caught up in foreign intelligence surveillance. The request is related to unmasking requests made by White House National Security Adviser Susan Rice, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power.

“Some records have been supplied to House investigators, but more information is being sought by the panel.

“Additionally, the House panel announced it has issued subpoenas to Trump’s former White House National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn, and Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.”

It’s interesting that Democrats, who supposedly want to know what Russia did in regards to the 2016 elections, and whether the results were compromised in any way by untoward foreign interference, are blocking so many key witnesses from telling what they know about Russian intervention. It’s almost as if they don’t really want to know — because they know it’s all bunk.

These cuckolds are the very reason Trump is in the Whitehouse now. Real conservatives were tired of these gutless wimps sitting on the laps of the democrats as the democrats tweak their ears, and laugh at them behind their backs. Nothing has changed.

Right but it is a lot more than weakness. The DC Republicans are complicit it what is nothing more than a prelude to impeaching Trump. They have the power to close the entire charade down but don’t. There is no evidence of collusion or that Russia favored Trump or had an effect on the election, and that the president is not liable for obstruction because he has the constitutional authority to order the termination of the investigation or give Flynn a pardon. They know that the only action that can be taken against Trump is impeachment. HE CANNOT BE CHARGED WITH A CRIME UNTIL AFTER HE IS IMPEACHED AND REMOVED AS PRESIDENT. Therefore all of these investigations and the taxpayer funded Independent Investigator are working on finding stuff that supports their argument for Trump’s impeachment. Part of that process is to persuade the public of Trump’s malfeasance to soften the blow back when they impeach Trump. And this reminder, a president can be impeached for anything, it doesn’t have to be a crime. Impeachment is a political trial, not a criminal trial. I suspect that one of the articles of impeachment against Trump will be endangering the planet for withdrawing from the Paris Accord.

Then, like has been mentioned, the vice president would have to take over office, which would allow him to pardon the impeached president. This could work out to be catastrophic public relations event for the democrats especially if criminal spin off investigations into their legislation under o’bimbo is dragged in.

Obama, Lynch, Comey, and the Russian connections to the Clintons and Podesta will never be considered. This is a impeachment lynching of Trump and then case closed. The Republicans could get a special prosecutor appointed for the crimes any of the real suspects easier than this one but they won’t. They are gutless, clueless and some of absolutely complicit to protect the establishment powers. Unfortunately as much as Trump deals with and debates the details I suspect he doesn’t see the big picture either. Either that our he is achieving a herculean strength when he bites his tongue when he talks about and compliments the Republicans leadership.

It is possible to understand the insipid spineless example of ineptitude many elected Republicans openly display. Why are they not grilled by there supporters?

mainly because there is a massive misrepresentation in the media about what this is all about, and the Republicans are complicit with that as well. Even Gowdy yesterday was defending the importance of his committee getting all the facts about the Russian interference while side stepping a question about the continuing inferences of Trump campaign collusion, which would not be a crime even if there was a recording of Trump asking Putin to help him win the election. Even if Gowdy gets it, he is putting the value on getting his face and patriotism on the news as more important than what this impeachment witch hunt.

So well said! When America needs strength it has these gutless, pansy excuses for men, in fact traitors to their party and president. Kristol behaves as if he has gone mental – like Chris Matthews. They should team up. Would these individuals really prefer Hillary Clinton in the White House? If so they have judgment and mental issues.

Special counselor Bob Mueller personal vendetta against President Trump is now hurting this country wealth safety and honor Mr. Deputy Attorney General Rob Rosenstein?

So instead of appealing to the weak mainstream news media looking for one sensational soundbite photo op to sell one after another. How about rescuing this country population from these Deep State corrupted political investigations hurting our country?

And that this country Washington DC establishment media led by the New York Times still wants to keep dividing our country’s population into political racial groups that are always fighting in a cutthroat way with each other that has always felt very sinful to me.

Yes, stand up and be counted because the Washington DC establishment Deep State started criminalizing politics thereby breaking our social trust by crossing the line that we all agree to before. Tell me what is worse than a political welsher who doesn’t pay off his bet?.

Every day in every way democrats look stupider, more dishonest, it is apparent they are trying to hide a lot of things they would prefer not to be know. Counter attack with an investigation of hillary and o’bimbo would force them to fight on multiple fronts, guaranteeing that the truth would eventually come out.

Adam Schiff, scumbag CNN’s go-to guy, a “mastermind”? Anyone who has watched this fool of a man in committees investigating pretty much anything, not least Clinton’s emails, knows that when confronted by Trey Gowdy, Jason Chaffetz and others, Adam Schiff is as dense as a log of wood. He has the mental alacrity of an an oaf and less speed than a mosquito.

He exudes dishonesty and a total lack of integrity. The fact that he behaves like this
also reflect his lack of intelligence. He and the Democrats are on a fast-track of
losing members every day.

Adam “Shifty”, Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer, H. Clinton as well as B. Obama are
the obstructionist, mean spirited, power hungry, elitist, lacking in integrity politicians
that made myself and my family and extended family leave the Democratic party.
We want our leaders work for us “The People” NOT for themselves by always looking around for how to gain most voters/votes. If you work for the American, hardworking taxpayers and always keep that in mind you may gain back the peoples trust. I hope
Republicans watch and learn from this. (Democrats numerous losses)
