Women Not as Likely as Men to Shrug Off ISIS Terror Threats: Study

21

A new study from Israeli researchers shows that when it comes to fearing ISIS and attacks from jihadists, it’s women who express the most anxiety.

When it comes to ISIS, women much more than men seem to fear the group, a new study from Israeli researchers found.

Men tend to shrug off the threat more, researchers found.

Why?

Story continues below advertisement

Men are more apt to ignore or downplay real threats because of their inability to cope, the Daily Mail reported, citing the study.

The Daily Mail goes on:

“Those from poor backgrounds often carry the same negative thoughts as women towards ISIS’ ongoing holy war, the research suggests.

“The findings, from the Bar Ilan University, Israel, also suggest that being more optimistic may help to combat any fears that ISIS pose on Western society.

“Lead author Dr Yaakov Hoffman said: ‘The findings may have important implications for addressing heightened anxiety in the event of elevated terrorist threats…

“‘Exposure to ISIS media is detrimental to one’s mental health and increases ISIS anxiety beyond one’s level of general anxiety.

“‘Furthermore, the results may suggest that increasing one’s optimism and resilience may mitigate the ISIS threat sensitivity.’

“For the study published in Stress and Health journal, researchers wanted to work out the characteristics of those most likely to be scared of ISIS.

“The 1,007 adults were asked to what extent they agreed with certain statements on a scale of one to five, with the latter being the highest.

“Some included: ‘I am worried about ISIS more than most people’, and ‘the threat of ISIS arouses a strong anxiety in me.'”

Three-fifths of the survey participants said they were not in fear of ISIS for all the questions.

But anxiety over ISIS was much stronger in women, in those who self-identified as financially strapped, and in those who suffered health problems.

And researchers also found the level of fear a survey participant admitted was directly tied to the amount of media he or she watched, post-terror attacks.

Again, from the Daily Mail:

“While fear of the threat the terrorist group poses was strongly linked to the amount of ISIS media consumption someone had.

“In addition to their primary findings, they also found those who showed signs of PTSD were also more affected.

“Writing in the journal, the researchers said ISIS, which spreads across war-torn Iraq and Syria, is a ‘relatively small organisation’.

“But it has managed to alter security measures in many western countries through its ‘efficient’ media campaigns.

“Its horrific terror attacks have killed hundreds and wounded thousands across the UK, France and Germany in recent years.

“These atrocities are often followed up in the media with the warning that future attacks could follow, sparking fear in the hearts of many.

“The researchers pointed to the video ISIS released in the aftermath of the Nice attack last July, which killed 87 including the perpetrator, as an example.

“They said: ‘Even people in countries which were not directly targeted by ISIS may feel anxiety of a future ISIS threat due to its skillful use of social media.'”

Well, there is good reason to have anxiety about ISIS. The key point being that this is rational anxiety. The rabid and mentally deranged dogs in ISIS must not be ignored or down played.

Yes a phobia as in Islamophobia denotes an irrational fear. This fear is fully rational and an honestly logical and healthy reaction to a real threat.

But they are downplayed in Europe. They house them next to schools and the general community with a cop sitting outside, as if the cop himself is safe. The radicalized can’t be saved or aren’t worth any 8 million dollar treatment. They need to extract what life saving intel they can out of them and flush them down.

Not surprising, men where terrorists are a threat, have no balls, therefor no reason for concern.

Not that simple. The 3rd worlders are protected by the full power of the state — police and armies are used by pond scum like May, Merkel, etc. to throw in jail or even kill the native men if they get out of line toward the muztards.

Why do the men not stand up and do something, if nothing else, vote someone else into power?

If you have real feminism, it requites real men and women to super it. The gynosaurs that oppress and allow themselves to be oppressed are destroying themselves.

Liberal socialists, muslims democrats and fools all are totally incapable off accepting what cannot be changed or changing what can be. Like their brain dead dogma, they try to control everything, when in fact, they cannot control their bladders.

Good question. Why don’t they? At least in the U.S. we have an armed citizenry. For now.

No (no balls) cowards evade the truth about a threat, including May and Merkel, out of fear of it. Their arguments are superficial, illogical and irrational justifications for their evasions.

Yes, this makes a lot of sense and is logical. The insulated Hollywood and DC elite can afford their irrational evasions but the more exposed and protective like Mothers recognize a threat regardless of politics. No balls is another view of those that don’t have the courage to admit and face the threat out of fear of it. COWARDS!

Please stop recognizing Daesh as legitimate by calling them “isis”. Subliminal meme’s spread and inspire bravado in our enemy while simultaneously cause despair that even journalists like yourself are under the thumb of Obama. There is no caliphate, no islamic state, and there never will be over my dead body. Thanks for your attention.

Hmmm, I see your point, but they do control the land they claim. I hope they lose every inch but we should take them seriously until they are all dead

In stead of having fear why not fight them until they fear you. Because we all know in the end muzzrats are pussies. Just start by driving around with a heavy truck at your local mosque after Friday prayers. Hopefully they like the picture aftermath.

Women tend to be more socially aware than men and are probably more sensitive to the upheaval mass immigration causes and also more cautious at the news of increased terror attacks.

I think fear of rape plays a part.

I don’t think it’s as simple as the ‘study” makes it to be.That being said, decades of putting leftarded pols in office has caught up.
“You don’t need guns, the police will protect you” has been the mantra for many years, and a pile of BS too. When you give up your firearms you give up your being a “citizen” and you turn into a “subject”,one that anyone with a firearm or a heart full of violence can dominate.
The REAL cowards are the islamofacists.Women should be more worried than men as they are far less equipped to deal with violence and the COWARDLY jihadis ALWAYS gravitate to the soft targets for a larger kill score.
Women, children, the weak, elderly and the unaware and unarmed is who they target. They don’t either fight or shoot back….
Lack of ability to organize effective resistance plays a part.Act alone and you are GUARANTEED to go to the graybar forever.Organize resistance and the Gov’t minions under leftard/muzzrat control come at 4 AM and kick in your door.
Give up your firearms at your own peril.
THANK YOU FOR 2A FOUNDING FATHERS.

I thought it was women who generally sympathized with Islam, though, I mean, you see so many of them marrying Muslim men in the West and converting. Or maybe this study applies only to Israeli women, who are much more exposed to terrorism?
