President Donald Trump won high kudos from his American supporters for telling NATO allies during a conference across the Atlantic to start paying their allied obligations — to stop taking advantage of U.S. taxpayers.
Simply put, Trump told a crowd gathered at NATO’s headquarters in Brussels, NATO allied nations are “not paying what they should be paying.” European leaders were not amused.

“European leaders gazed unsmilingly at Trump while he said that ’23 of the 28 member nations are still not paying what they should be paying and what they are supposed to be paying,’ and that they owe ‘massive amounts’ from past years …”
The left-wing media, including the Washington Post, immediately tried to spin the scolding, saying that these nations’ don’t really owe the money because their allotments are based on domestic decisions.
But that’s not actually true.
Democrats and socialists like to drumbeat the idea of paying one’s fair share. But when it comes to Democrats and socialists — they’re exempt from that principle?

Here’s how Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and presidential contender, put it on Twitter: “Proud of @realDonaldTrump for telling NATO deadbeats to pay up or shut up. Dems surely like him calling for ‘fair share!’ Right Sen Schumer?”
Good point.
But it’s one that’s put the socialist leaders of the world in an uncomfortable light. Calling for taxpayers to pay for their fair share as a campaign mantra and political tool to raise taxes on the wealthy and redistribute wealth is one thing. But for leftists, paying their fair shares themselves?
Well, now, that’s hitting below the belt. In leftists’ minds, what’s good for the goose is only good for the gander, so long as their own socialist camp isn’t grouped with either the geese or the ganders.

No pay, no play. The President should have incorporated commentary saying the United States would stop making payments until delinquent NATO members pay their fair share, or the US will withdraw altogether.
The Cold War is over. We can take care of ourselves without European help, thank you.

Agree. And Did you know NATO member Turkey With Obama’s Best Friend, Erdogan as Leader allows harvesting of organs from refugee childrens.
And that includes killing children ! And even UN was aware of it for over 3 years but keeps blaming syrian govt !

Why would anyone fund a group whose member states include a totalitarian, religious apartheid state like Turkey that denies its complicity in genocide and ethnic cleansing of the kafir al najjis? With allies like Turkey how can you state you represent the free world?

To clarify, the funds of which President Trump has made a relevant issue are not owed to NATO but are to be spent in their local economy and on their own domestic military forces. Think about it, if the NATO allies go to a country under attack for the purpose of aiding in its defense in accordance with Article 5, there has to be enough of a resident military presence there to at least have a starting point for strategy and protective reaction.
