President Trump’s nominee to be the next Army secretary withdrew his name from consideration Friday, Pentagon officials confirmed to Fox News, after he was accused of making anti-LGBT and Islamophobic remarks.
Mark Green, a Republican state senator from Tennessee, stepped aside after what he called “false and misleading” attacks against him which had caused his nomination to become a “distraction.”
“Tragically, my life of public service and my Christian beliefs have been mischaracterized and attacked by a few on the other side of the aisle for political gain,” he said in a statement first reported by The Tennessean.
“While these attacks have no bearing on the needs of the Army or my qualifications to serve, I believe it is critical to give the President the ability to move forward with his vision to restore our military to its rightful place in the world,” he said.
Several Democrats and some Republicans including Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., had taken aim at comments he made in September in which he said transgender people are suffering from a disease. McCain called the comments “disturbing.”
Also in September, he said a stand needed to be taken against “the indoctrination of Islam” in public schools. He also referred to the “Muslim horde” that invaded Constantinople centuries ago….

I am a Protestant, so I do not mind differing from the RCC, the Vatican or the Pope. According to the Koran, the Mother of God/ the Virgin Mary, was the daughter of Amram (3: 33), father of Moses & Aaron.
I also do not mind arguing with the Koran, so you and I have something in common. I believe the Koran is a lie and I believe that Allah, being the best of deceivers (3: 54; 8:30), deceives first and last those who follow him.

I’ve read some of those you refer to (as a 75-year-old widow and retiree I have time). I think the report that shook me most (because I much younger) was that of the Japanese shooting those Australian nurses in cold blood. They made them hold hands and wade into the sea and shot them in the back. The Rape of Nanking was a horror.
Rwanda was a nightmare: our son was there just afterwards and the things he told me kept me awake for many nights.
Being a South African I know, of course, what the British did here: concentration camps, etc.

I agree he should not have withdrawn. On the other hand it is good to know upfront that he is a pussy and easily intimidated when push comes to shove.
Hopefully Pres. Trump will nominate someone who can take the heat, and take the battle to the enemy.

Once again, this begs the question, “What is Trump doing about this?” It, also, infers he’ll do nothing.

The problem is: People have become complacent, they would rather watch the cooking channel, golf channel or Monday Night Football. They live in their own little universes and the biggest challenge to them is getting little Johnny to soccer practice on time or little Susie to her dance lessons.
