New York Times hires a “conservative”: rabid anti-Trump elitist Bret Stephens

The establishment media elitists at the New York Times show yet again with this hire just how out of touch they are with Americans and our legitimate concerns about the nation. Tarring all Trump supporters as bigots and fascists — Stephens is no conservative. He would fit right in at CNN. And, of course, the New York Times.

“The New York Times Affirms Its Elitist Bent With Latest Hire,” by Scott Greer, Daily Caller, April 21, 2017:

Story continues below advertisement

The New York Times probably made a serious blunder in picking its newest conservative columnist.

The Times announced last week that it was adding Bret Stephens, formerly of The Wall Street Journal, to its editorial pages. Stephens has recently gained attention for his virulent opposition to Donald Trump, in spite of his status as a writer on the Right.

Stephens has attacked Trump on foreign policy. He’s attacked him on immigration. He’s attacked him on trade. And he’s attacked him on his character.

The former WSJ columnist has called the movement Trump ushered in fascist and despicable — all of which makes him a “conservative with a conscience” to his new liberal fans….

In contrast, Stephens represents pretty much every facet of the conservative movement that was flouted  by Trump during his campaign for the White House. Cutting government entitlements, nation building, open borders boosterism — all of those positions championed by the new Times columnist were scuttled by candidate Trump. (President Trump might turn out to be a different matter, however.)More importantly than that is the extreme contempt he has expressed for Trump voters and anyone who might defend the president.

Here’s his view on Trump supporters back in 2015, which he has shown no sign of changing:

If by now you don’t find Donald Trump appalling, you’re appalling.

If you have reached physical maturity and still chuckle at Mr. Trump’s pubescent jokes about Rosie O’Donnell or Heidi Klum, you will never reach mental maturity. If you watched Mr. Trump mock fellow candidate Lindsey Graham’s low poll numbers and didn’t cringe at the lack of class, you are incapable of class. If you think we need to build new airports in Queens the way they build them in Qatar, you should be sent to join the millions of forced laborers who do construction in the Persian Gulf. It would serve you right.

Wishing slave-like labor to be impressed on millions of Americans because they have an opinion you disagree with is quite the hot take. To say it oozes total disdain and a false sense of moral superiority over the heartland is an understatement.

It’s also interesting for a man who always wishes for wars he never fights in to want people to physically suffer for their opinions.

Stephens continued in his disgust for middle America during a debate last September on whether America’s elites were to blame for the rise of the future president. The columnist asserted a strong no, along with his fellow debate partner Jennifer Rubin, a supposed conservative columnist at The Washington Post who spends most of her time screeching at the Right.

The then-Wall Street Journal editor said those who are really to blame for Trump are those who voted for him in the primaries and continued to support him in the general election, along with the radio and TV “demagogues” who lent credibility to the Republican nominee.

According to Stephens, Trump voters responded well to Trump’s “message of intolerance, bigotry and fake victimization” because they themselves share those views — and that’s the real problem.

His debate opponents — the Washington Examiner’s Tim Carney and The Federalist’s Ben Domenech — refuted these claims and said America’s elites — as in the class of people who hold the reins of power in the country — are more responsible for Trump’s rise.

“To say that the elites don’t deserve the blame…is to say that the people failed their elites,” Carney said during the debate.

After the election, The New York Times admitted it had failed in its coverage of the campaign and vowed to do better in understanding the zeitgeist in America. While limited to the opinion section, the Stephens hire signals a desire by NYT’s staff to pretend the election never happened and that the opinions of Trump voters don’t deserve to be heard.

In other words, the people failed their elites — and the Times can’t wait to remind its readers of that view.

He is RINO, a Lobbyists paid puppet for saudi’s/pharma, defense industries and Trump was seen as opposed and subversive to these interests , so this scumbag used to oppose and still does.

Left/Liberal/RINO all will continue to smear trump using fake news unless he does what they want .

Here’s a tool designed to help Left/Liberal goons shut down conservative views , Real News that expose them as corrupt/Anti-American as “fake news” in social media.

Here’s how smart conservatives ,anti-jihadi are using the same tool to fight back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9kMT8LBieY

Its Hilarious !

The lame stream media will never figure out that they would make money with less effort if they reported news instead of pushing the “post truth” agenda. As owners of lame stream media outlets discover that lies are not marketable, they will not adjust their technique, instead, try telling more lies to peddle their papers.

as a wsj reader, i watched daily as bret lost his mind when trump ascended. he seemed like an interesting, rational mind until then. i think he has an east-of-the-hudson worldview, and cannot fathom the boiling anger and hatred that many americans feel toward a distant and hostile federal government that in 2016 confiscated $10,000 from every man, woman, and child and used the money to destroy our nation before our eyes

Numerous things Trump has said are indeed appalling. Anyone here recall his saying about a fellow New Yorker, ‘What is She Doing Drawing Muhammad?’ (someone remind me- what was the name of that woman who had the temerity to draw Muhammad?) . His frat-boy comments about women- including his own daughter- also are appalling. Among his many déclassé statements are those regarding Senator Graham. And no, civilized countries do not treat “guest workers” the way Moslems in the Persian Gulf do.

Bret Stephens, hard hitting columnist that he is, is far from “rabid”, and I find it a measure of how unhinged Pamela is sometimes that she casts him in that light. He is truly a worthy successor to the late, great William Safire. I have to wonder why Pamela seems to delight in making enemies among people with whom, ideologically, she has much in common. In that regard, she faithfully follows in the footsteps of her ideological mentor who also was a “New Yorker”. Is it something in the water supply there?

Libs don’t know what a conservative is or where to find any of them, so how do they think they could hire one?

Just another pansy-looking libtard who sees the government as his mother.
If Herr Adolph was pulling his stuff today, in a few years, we would all be speaking German.
Cowardice is a world disease. That is what motivates democrats, ‘cowardice’, they want a handout, they want to insure that they keep their stuff even if they lose their job, always another taxpayer-paid safety net. We, by our sympathy and concurrent actions, have created a country of cowardly “fraidy cats”. Terrified of just about anything and demanding their governmental mother to come hold their hand and make things “right”.
democrats are the enemy.

If someone, somewhere actually believes Stephens’s is a Conservative, I have some ocean front property for sale in Montana I’ll sell this someone, somewhere for a very reasonable price.

Stephens is a “conservative” from Central Casting … his role is to convince drones and low information voters that “conservative” means what Liberals say it means.

A current definition of conservative is “Enemy of the Statists, Communists, Authoritarians, Totalitarians, Islamists, and Fellow Travelers,” which is what it really means now.

Comparing him to excrement is an insult to excrement. btw. Excrement has useful properties.

This guy’s only use is as a Useful Idiot.

Don’t be so mad at the world! Bret Stephens is a fantastic columnist. Take the time to actually read some of this stuff with an open mind. Think about what he writes. It is important that we have fair discourse in this country. And you can help with your little part right now, read different viewpoints including Bret. Enjoy!

Nice to see some love for Brett. Too bad Pam is so butt hurt that she will slander a great columnist. She has her nose so far up Trumps behind that it is embarrassing.

Absolutely love Brett. Loved his columns in the WSJ and I am sure he will continue with the excellent analysis in the NYT. I would recommend that Pam’s readers get a subscription. You will actually learn about the real world.

“conservative with a conscience”
Translation: Not really a conservative despite masquerading as one. A good rule of thumb: If the New York Times praises you as a conservative you’re probably not much of a conservative.

Dumb as a stump the reason he no longer works for WSJ ? As he waves his butt in people’s faces , demanding we all think (?) just like him , and only a bit more servility towards Himself is required . Yup . The Way of Recruiting Fellow Travelers , just act like an ashull until you’ve browbeaten your victims into senselessness .

So who reads the NY Times? It’s an hours drive to the nearest town where it “might be” sold to the public. I wouldn’t know anything about it if I didn’t read about it in the “Geller Report”! I think I represent a lot of people!

Bret Stephens is a serious political analyst and one of a very few actual journalists with knowledge of foreign affairs as well as domestic agendas. it is concerning that he is now writing for the Nytimes that has become a garbage can. the WSJ also turned from rigorous reporting into sloth and fake bullshit and not worth even one penny of subscription money. he may surprise the nytimes, since he has real credibility and takes the time to research that which he is writing about, and he’s got a real frame of reference. i will never again, of course, look at the nytimes because of its disreputable and biased anti semitism and general ignorance and stupidity. fk it.
