Trump frees Muslim Brotherhood operative from an Egyptian prison

Earlier this week, I applauded the news that an Egyptian American woman who was imprisoned in Cairo for several years  was freed after Donald Trump struck a deal with the Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sissi.

But now it turns out she is Muslim Brotherhood.

Story continues below advertisement

Who told him this would be a good idea? Who in the Trump administration vetted her? If it had a smell to it, why touch it? Too many others without questions should be released. There are or were several Christian leaders in jail in Egypt for converting from Islam, etc.

Aya was arrested “on seven counts, including operating an unlicensed organizations, inciting street children to join pro-Muslim Brotherhood protests and sexually assaulting minors.”

Who is Aya Hijazi, the American freed from jail in Egypt?

By Louisa Loveluck, Washington Post, April 22, 2017:

President Trump met with Aya Hijazi on April 21, an Egyptian American charity worker who was imprisoned in Cairo for three years. (Taylor Turner/The Washington Post)

BEIRUT — During nearly three years spent shuttling between an Egyptian jail and a Cairo courtroom cage in a case dismissed by human rights groups as “bizarre,” Aya Hijazi’s American citizenship did not seem to count for much.

She was a dual national at a time when Egypt was gripped by the widest-ranging crackdown in its modern history. Her case had become a national scandal, cast by state media as a victory of law and order. And despite calls for her release, the Obama administration seemed to have little leverage with the Sissi regime to make it happen.

But on Friday, she entered the White House as a free woman, having flown home on a U.S. government plane after being acquitted in a Cairo court.

The court’s decision came after months of backroom negotiations between the Trump administration and representatives of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sissi.

Hijazi, 30, grew up in Falls Church, Va., graduating from George Mason University before moving to Egypt for further study. She went on to found the Belady Foundation, an organization that aims to shelter and rehabilitate marginalized street children.

As a crackdown on civil society groups was gathering pace in May 2014, police raided the Belady Foundation’s Cairo premises. Hijazi was detained alongside her husband, Mohamed Hassanein, and others at the foundation. She would have to wait four months to even find out what she had been arrested for.

Despite flimsy evidence, the group was eventually charged on seven counts, including operating an unlicensed organizations, inciting street children to join pro-Muslim Brotherhood protests and sexually assaulting minors. The group denied all the charges, and human rights lawyers said the evidence against them was fabricated.

The state’s own forensic report found no evidence that any of the children in their care had been sexually abused. Reports suggested that a boy they had allegedly kidnapped had never been to the Belady Foundation, and he was later found in another province.

[the_ad id=”90673″]

As Hijazi’s imprisonment wore on, the case only unraveled further.

A senior Interior Ministry official told the al-Arabiya television network that the police raid on the Belady Foundation had not been authorized through proper channels, and that his officers had found no signs that children were being held against their will.

At one point, one of the children who had testified against Hijazi even wrote to her in prison, apologizing for a statement that he said had been given under duress.

Her trial was repeatedly postponed, often without a clear reason. When Hijazi did appear in court, she cut a quiet figure in the defendant’s cage. In one memorable image from a hearing last month, she appeared in a different world altogether, lost in the pages of Maya Angelou’s memoir “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.”

In a statement published after her acquittal, Human Rights Watch was quick to point out that her case was not unusual. “Aya Hijazi, her husband, and their colleagues are finally free, but the system that subjected them to a travesty of justice for nearly three years remains unchanged,” said Joe Stork, the organization’s deputy Middle East director.

What the…? Several Christians languishing in prisons in Egypt, likely never to get out, or to be executed possibly, and trump works to free a muslim brotherhood pusher and possible pedophile? Like you, when i first heard the story- I was like ‘awesome!” But now, learning this, it stinks to high heaven-

If similar effort were directed to freeing Christians in Islamic prisons, then at least we have “parity”. However, this writer sees no directed effort at freeing Christians with the vigor, pomp and circumstance with which this woman was released.

This President had better wake up to the true nature of the enemy in our midst.

Yes, It’s hard to defend what Trump just did. Maybe he’s just got too much stuff on his plate these days. I hope it doesn’t mean he’s soft on Muslim fundamentalists. But then again, why hasn’t he done something about these organizations embedded here that have direct ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. I’m starting to get concerned.

I think a lot of people are starting to get concerned- but we’re still willing to give him some time to prove himself- a lot of folks i think voted for him ‘with reservations’ – they were afraid his liberal roots would come out once he got elected- and havign invanka and jared basically influencing his decisions isn’t helping ease people’s fear of him turning on republicans- He’s flip flopped on several things that have a lot of folks concerned- before election he called climate change a hoax (i disagree- it’s real, BUT we’re just not the cause of it) now he’s unsure if he’s gonna pull out of paris agreement- and complaining the agreement is ‘binding’- He said Mexico gonna pay for wall- now he’s begging congress to pay for it (Personally i don’t care who pays for it- spending a one time fee of say $25- $50 billion dollars will save us between $400 billion dollars per year and $600 billion- these are old estimates by the way- but that is what it costs this country every year when illegals commit crimes, hurt folks, send our money over the boarder etc). It would be well worth the money to pay for it ourselves! He was goign to do away with IRS and now he isn’-t- was gonna repeal and replace HC law- now it’s obamacare light apparently- He was gonna deport all illegals and muslims, which would get wild cheers everything he said it- now he’s telling ‘non violent illegals’ that he isn’t targeting them- There are a number of major key issues he’s flip flopped on that have folks very nervous about him- It’s still early- so we’ll give him more time- and yes, getting htigns done in government is hard- but my goodness- many of hte key points he ran on, which convinced independents and even some democrats to vote for him, he’s flip flopped on- other things he has kept his promises on- major things-

Too bad we lose, and in the long run all you know will be saying I told you so.
You give a sad list of his major reasons we fell for, and he has failed on every one of them.
Just what will you need to convince you that this is truly the end.
Also see the you tube vid I placed elsewhere for his Bannon replacement, it’s enough for me.

She was charged with inciting children to join pro-Muslim Brotherhood protests. Where is the evidence she was a member? There was no evidence she was guilty of any of the charges, and she was subsequently acquitted. What evidence exists that she belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood?

Agree. Nowhere in the article there is any link to Muslim brotherhood.

But why Trump does not talk about releasing christians and their brutal persecution in Egypt, Iraq (both so called allies).

while he bombs Syria , which protected christians and other minorities till sunni saudi/Obama funded jihadis began to takeover

Or the ‘Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with Islam’ ‘Mad Dog’ Mattis or any number of other MB operatives whose identities remain unknown, beyond the fact they are legion. Barry and Hillary placed them there. “Extreme vetting” died when Gen. Flynn and K.T. McFarland were shown the door.

The longer Trump ‘delays’ designating the MB as a terrorist organization and treats them accordingly (which I, personally, doubt he’ll ever do), the fewer days we have left as a free, Constitutional Republic. That is a fundamental fact for which previous few will even acknowledge…

It’s a real pity Flynn lied. He knew Islam, knows it is cancer, but made a serious error that has cost the president a sound advisor. The the liberal media hates him is testament to his being the right man for the job. The fact is, he let himself and the people down.

Second guessing why Trump does what he does when it comes to foreign affairs, wars (and even choosing his own cabinet as the snakes are all over the White House and many are invisible, for all intents and purposes), is useless. We know the president no longer has power over these matters as they are, have been and always will be completely controlled by the globalist shadow government we’ve had for many decades. Remembering this, we should accept our own responsibility in, at least, giving President Trump a brand new Congress that will work WITH him and FOR us. That would make his job easier for him to keep ALL of his promises, which, never forget, is his goal.
