I have ALWAYS loved the tango – and these clips (even following a link to BHO actually NOT falling down on the dance floor!) have been FAB!! I also remember seeing on “You Asked For It” (more than 50 years ago!!) the famous clip of George Raft, once a great dancer before he became an actor(!), dancing tango-style to the haunting music of “Bolero.” All of that music is just so mesmerizing and beautiful! Thanks, Pamela, for providing such a “lift” in a very difficult world!

It is said that dancing is making love set to music. Nothing exemplifies that better than hot South American dances. Pertaining to this clip, I have only one question; How the heck does she do that on 4 inch heels!?

Aye, that she did, Duchess. She did say that Astaire was a very strong lead but I don’t know if she meant that as compliment or a criticism. She also said that Astaire was a real “B” to work with because he was such a perfectionist. He would demand a scene be shot over and over til he was satisfied. By the time they broke for the day her legs were aching all the way to her shoulders.

Her comment on Astaire was probably just factual, I don’t think they were antagonists but, despite the best of efforts of the studios, there was no real friendship beyond the camera. Whatever the situation they brought great joy to millions over the years (myself included)
